L & O revolving door
Lenny Briscoe is leaving Law and Order. Jerry Orbach is stepping aside after 12 seasons--although he may have a role in the new spinoff---yes, a 4th Law and Order show.
Cast changes usually mean the end of the line for a show. How has Law and Order survived--and spawned a whole line of shows--despite frequent cast switches??? Obviously the writing is great, but average viewers tune in for familiar faces and not great scripts. I think it's the sound effect between scenes. I could be wrong. |
No!!!!
He's the main reason I watch that show. I love his character. Law & Order is only "cop" show I watch. SIGH Mr Mephisto |
Sam Watterston is the main casting reason that I watch. I generally don't care a great deal about the detectives (except for the male detective in CI, he's great). I miss Angie Harmon and whatshisname Adam Schiff.

I have never been a fan of Briscoe and the regular Law and Order myself. Sure, as a die-hard L and O fan, i do enjoy the show but I would much prefer SVU and CI.

I don't care much for the premise of SVU. It's too narrow. The cast is interesting enough that I watch it every now and then, but it's my least favorite of the three. The original is my favorite.

The actors and the characters they play have almost nothing to do with why L&O is so popular. The whole point is that the "case is the thing." I seem to remember hearing this from one of the creators (Dick Wolf) maybe four or five years ago. That's why they don't spend much time with the cop's private lives...no one cares.
I just watch to see the case unfold and don't care who the cops or lawyers are. |
