this may have been suggested in the past, but I think it would be a good idea to have as a stickied thread in this forum. Just trying to contribute to this wonderful place.

I say we all contribute to a massive list of great DVD titles - I spent the better half of an hour today trying to write down DVDs that I needed to add to my collection, but I was having trouble thinking of the sheer number of great films out there. So I got this idea - someone who would be willing to undertake the task of setting up this list (or it could be split up by genre) would simply weed out the films that were listed more than once and put together a list of great movies to buy on DVD - so that whenever someone is looking to add to their collection, they can just consult the tfp entertainment forum and check it out.

Since I'm too tired and doped up on allergy medicines to think properly, I'll just start by proposing the way it gets organized...here are my suggestions for some genres...if we all pitched in and did this, it would be huge, and split up several ways, this is just a suggestion of how it could be done.

Drama/
Drama/Crime/
Drama/Family/
Drama/Mindfuck/
Drama/Drug/

Comedy/
Comedy/Slapstick/
Comedy/Teen/
Comedy/Drug/
Comedy/Situational/

Action
Action/Adventure
Action/Hong-Kong
Action/Kung-Fu

Anyway. I don't really know what's going on thanks to these allegy drugs, so that probably looks really bad and would be too much work...but it's just an idea...

I started a thread once about the Top 100 DVD Census that was done by various DVD and home theater forums. It seems to have drifted into oblivion now, but that would probably be a good place to start. The list can be found online here:

Good idea, but people's tastes can vary so much that there will be a bunch of, "Are you kidding, that movie sucked!" kind of posts.

yeah, but it would be a good idea to get just any movie that anyone thought was worth owning, then people could copy, paste, and edit according to their own tastes...
