How Have Movies Concerning Drug Use influenced you?
There is another thread in Tilited Health and Fitness about having sympathty for drug addicts.
But I wanted to take this question to the Entertainment Forum because movies have really had a big influence on me concerning the drug culture and lifestyle. How have movies like "Trainspotting", "Requiem For A Dream", "Valley of the Dolls", "Blow" etc. made you view drug use and the people who use them? Also please feel free to list any other movies concerning drug use that have impacted you, i just named some well known ones for examples. |

That said.. movies like Trainspotting and Requiem defintely turned me away from trying drugs (mainly umm Heroin).. but then you look at things like Half Baked and Human Traffic that kind of make you say "hey it's cool.. give it a try". Then there's stuff like Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas that both makes you and not makes you want to try drugs... |

I think that Requiem is a movie that should be shown by parents to kids that they think might entertain the thought of drug use. It's not like I was into drugs before seeing it, but afterwards I was definitly not into it. I just sat there in a stunned silence for awhile.

Have ya ever seen the movie "Spun"?
watching this movie made my heart do a double-tap mentally AND physiologically. Having lived the life portrayed in this movie for a period of time, I identified both with the characters AND the special(spatial) effects It took me back to a place I wasn't sure I was glad to be... but when it was "said and done"...it was a hoot.

I would have to say that Requiem had the biggest impact on me by far...I practically felt sick to my stomach after watching it, and won't even go near drugs or anyone who uses them now.
Trainspotting kind of puts a touch of humor to it, but when Renton has his overdose moment, it definatley freaked me out. Another really good movie that'll change your thoughts about drugs is Gia, with Angelina Jolie. It's sooo sad/depressing. I'm not kidding when I say that I had a headache all night long from watching it. I don't know why, it just messed with me a lot...it's so realistic, that you can almost feel what she's going through the whole time...

Trainspotting always made me curious about trying herion. But I find that drug and shooting up as completely disgusting. It just seemed like a dirty habit. I also feel that way 'bout speed. An example of where life begins to imitate art is the movie "Less Than Zero". Morton Downey Jr... 'nuff said.
