Barbara Streisand confirmed for Meet The Fockers

One of my most anticipated films of the year, the sequel to 2000's Meet The Parents, Meet The Fockers looks like it's finally getting going. Here's some of the latest...

Quote:
Barbra Streisand is in final talks to join Dustin Hoffman as the parents of Ben Stiller's character in Universal's Meet the Fockers, set to go into production later this month. The film, which Jay Roach is directing, is slated for a Dec. 22 release.

Variety says that while 2000's Meet the Parents centered on Stiller's eager-to-please character trying to win approval of his girlfriend's dad, the tightly wound ex-spook Jack Byrnes played by Robert De Niro, the sequel follows the clash between the Byrnes and the free-to-be-you-and-me Fockers.

Streisand's last onscreen appearance was eight years ago in romantic comedy The Mirror Has Two Faces, which she directed and produced.
I can't really see Dustin Hoffman OR Barbara Streisand in these roles but nonetheless I'm sure it'll work and will be hilarious.

I saw an interview with Teri Polo, who plays Ben Stiller's g/f in the first movie when she was on Jay Leno, and she said Spoiler: one of the parts of the script she contributed to was the naming of the matriarch of the Focker Family, rightfully called Mother Focker. How hilarious is that? Anyways, I can't wait 'til December when this comes out. Should be hilarious.

Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller are great together I just downloaded Starsky and Hutch holy freakin funny movie, I recommend everyone see it. Meet the Fockers should be even funnier than the first one I hope although the first one was hilarious, it's a tough act to follow.

I can't wait for "Meet the Fockers!" I wouldn't be suprised if the role was written with Streisand in mind. She is THE mother in law from hell.

I see her as more of a free-spirit mother-in-law.
Kinda like her characters in "The Owl and the Pussycat" and "What's Up, Doc?".

I hope that's the way they go with it.

From Comingsoon.net...

The Barbra Streisand Archives fansite tells us that entertainment program Extra yesterday showed the first footage of Streisand on the Meet the Fockers set. Universal is shooting the sequel in Pasadena, CA for a Dec. 22 release date. Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, and Blythe Danner reprise their roles from Meet the Parents while Dustin Hoffman plays father Focker.

In the sequel, Pam's (Polo) parents get to meet Greg's (Stiller) parents, the Fockers. The hyper-relaxed Fockers and the tightly-wound Byrneses are woefully mismatched from the start, and no matter how hard Greg and Pam try, there is just no bringing their families together--which all adds up to a disastrously funny time of "getting to know you."

Check out the screen captures of Streisand on the set by clicking on her picture below:

She looks kinda "different" but I still think it's gonna be a hysterical movie.
