I doubt that this series will have any connection whatsoever with the previous series. The previous series begins with Batman first appearing in Gotham and completely contradicts this version.

This is good, I think. Every once in a while, you need to reboot. Not every other year, like they seem to do with the Legion of Superheroes, but every 15 to 20 years for a movie franchise seems a good rule of thumb for me, especially when the first run started out mediocre and went downhill from there. The animated Mask of the Phantasm remains the best Batman movie for my money.

I also wondered a bit about the fight scenes. BUT then, I thought maybe it was deliberate: as part of his training. It makes sense.

The way they shot the fights worked in some cases, but not in others. When he was fighting Falcone's thugs after taking most of them out one by one it worked great to convey the sense of confusion that the thugs felt. All they saw was a blur of some bat-like creature and the audience saw the same thing.

The only time the quick cuts bugged me was when he was fighting more trained individuals, in those fights I would agree that a less chaotic feeling would have been better to show off the skills of the fighters.

Quite right! They're doing it with Bond, Superman, and a few more to come soon. Now seems a time to try and work out any kinks that made their way into epic film collections. What remains to be seen is if all the reduxs (is there a plural for redux?) do as well as Batman Begins. I hope I can enjoy Bond and Supes as much as I did Batman.

Saw it last night, and thought it was really good. My only complaints were the fight scenes (as has been said) and I thought that the voice while he was in the batsuit sounded forced a lot of the time. Beyond that, I enjoyed it terribly. Great movie.

I LOVED this movie like none other. I thought it was the best superhero movie I've ever seen. I loved how dark the film was, and how real the character was. It also explained a lot about where he got his fighting training which none of the other movies, as far as I can recall, even mention.

I was very skeptical about this movie considering the last batman movie was so horrible. And I have hard time accepting anyone else as Batman because of how well Michael Keaton portrayed the character.

Overall, I did enjoy this movie for what it was, and it made me want to go home and watch all of the other ones (besides Batman and Robin). It was nice to find out more of the story.

Things I didn't like:
Christain Bale's voice while he was Batman
Fight scenes (they didn't show enough)
The extremely long intro (basically, there also wasn't enough Batman)

I'd have to agree with not liking Christian Bale's voice when he was Batman, but other than that I thought the movie was very solid. IMO it was the best of the series.

I saw this flick a few nights ago, and while I really enjoyed it, I had a few qualms with the movie.

I loved Christian Bale's performance as Bruce Wayne. I agree with what some have already said, however. When in the Batsuit, he over-acted. Is he trying to win an Oscar here? I just found his acting those scenes to be way over the top.

Overall, very good flick, Three Stars

Just gonna spoiler tag the whole thing cause I'm lazy.

Spoiler: I thought the movie was great. Let me be the first to admit that I'm not very familiar with the comics at all. I've seen the movies, some cartoons, and the really old show when Batman wore a felt-costume and Robin had the "Holy super-pun, Batman!"

I'll say what I didn't like. Although I really liked the history of the man and his transformation, I had a hard time getting into the whole idea of a super-secret cult that has the power to bring down civilizations basically. From reading the posts here, I'm guessing this plot was in some of the books or comics or something and it's all fine~ that's cool. It's no worse than Arnold trying to freeze the whole city, but for a movie that did a good job of trying to make everything seem more "real", this was a little much for me.

I agree with what many already said about the fight scenes. Some were good because I think it emphasized the confusion and such that Wayne's training emphasized. But some also seemed sloppy.

I didn't notice the music in the movie AT ALL. So I guess I can't say that it sucked, but usually music enhances movies a lot. The Batman theme in the original was awesome and I would have liked something like that here.

As for his disgruntled voice when in the Batsuit... It didn't bother me. Maybe he was overdoing it some, but I just figured 1) he's trying to hide his identity and 2) he's trying to instill fear in his enemies. When he strings up that one crooked-cop and his grilling him, and he says "I swear to God", and Batman says "Swear to ME!!!"... Well I thought that was the sweetest part in the whole movie. Even I was like "Holy shit don't mess with that guy!"

On my first viewing of the film I barely noticed the score too, but on my second every note hit it home. I've since bought the OST and have to say it's one of the best scores I've ever heard... I'm so glad films are producing good scores again, it felt like we had hit a dry spot for a while.

Just saw this again on the weekend and I still think it's a triumph of a super-hero movie, but I will say that the "missile firing mode" in the batmobile was an obvious move to make the car cooler and sell more toys. With the rest of Batman's arsenal approaching the fringe of believability, this stuck out like a sore thumb.

I'm not easily impressed by superhero movies, but this one blew me away.
Christian Bale was great and the supporting cast was outstanding with the exception of Katie Holmes and that annoying little kid.
My only major complaint was the quick cuts during the action scenes which literally made me sick.
I'll look forward to the next one. Unlike other prospective trilogies, I get the feeling this one will improve as it goes along.

It was pretty good. I liked most of it, but I'm pretty sick of the shaky-cam fights. I didn't like it in either of the Bourne movies and I didn't like it now.

It definitely redeemed the last few Batman travesties.

I saw it again this past weekend. It's the first movie I've ever went back to the theatre to see. IMO it's that good. I MAY see it a third time before it leaves theatres. Extraordinary.

I think my favorite scene was the first time we saw him in the complete outfit at the dock scene. He's just drug the mob boss out the top of his limo, says "nice jacket" to the homeless guy, then suddenly he and the boss go flying straight up. I think that is one of the cooler scenes. ever.

Finally saw the film last night and was very impressed. Definately the best live action Batman ever. I would say that it was pretty near note perfect in its storytelling.

I have to agree with the comments on fight scenes. My guess is that the approach was taken a) because the filmmakers liked the aesthetics; but more likely b) they had to hide some of the short comings of the costume.

Despite the costume being one of the best to date, I was still a little stiff in the cowl.

Spoiler: I also enjoyed the fact that they managed to incorporate two villians into the film and had it make sense. Scarecrow works for Ras al'Ghul in a logical fashion. It didn't just feel like we were piling on the villians so we could have another star in the picture (following the mantra that more is better).

I'm hoping that, like me, the producers and those responsible have unreasonably high standards for the costume. It seems that way, as they were keeping it off camera as much as possible and in the dark. Perhaps they'll improve it for the second installment?

Possibly the best one but I do enjoy the original (that is the non adam west original) and "returns". Hope this series stays as good as it is now because you know they'll make more of them

wow this movie was good.. like others thsi is one of the first movies i saw twice in the theatre. The 2nd time around cleared some stuff up like why did he go to attack mode in the "batmobile" again when he did not even fire anythign. Also his batman voice didnt bother me until like the end, i kinda thought it sounded like him jus a little harsher and others have pointed out that it "is" to hide his identity. Overall great movie!

fav line: "Gotham isnt beyond saving"
ahaha yea and that "swear to me" was pretty funny.

I thought this movie was brilliant, in fact I would have to say it is my favorite superhero movie.. and I almost always wait at least 6 months before such a pronouncement, but this movie was THAT good.

My wife who barely tolerates Sh movies, looooooved this one. She was leaning on the seat in front of her about ten minutes in.. a sure sign of boredom, I asked if she wanted to go see something else ( thinking she wasn't into it) and she turned to me with the look of a kid getting his best xmas gift ever and said ... "this is so fucking good!"

About Liam Neeson, I will say I was quite bitter about his role.... why couldn't Qui-Gonn have n=been this good a Jedi, much less a teacher?

After a very disappointing time seeing the new harry potter movie, we came home and popped in the Batman DVD that a friend had given us. We were so busy with wedding stuff we didnt get to see it in the theater and Dave had already watched it when he was home sick. He was begging me to watch it (Im not much in to comic book/superhero stuff)

I finally relented. WOW, I wanted to start the whole dvd over again when it was over. It reminded me of how I felt when I saw superman in the theater all those many moons ago.

Im a HUGE Liam Neeson fan (we are talking huge) and to see him play this character was a big big big treat for me.. Dave is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to comic book stuff (I bet he and Gilda would have some great conversations) so after the movie he explained this that and the other and what wasnt "right" about some things, but that they way they presented it, it "worked". I can honestly say that were there to be another one we'll be at the theater opening weekend to see it (Dave is really hoping it WILL be a joker movie, as thats his all time favorite character of all time lol)

Mogan Freeman, I would watch him do just about anything and this movie was no exception...he was just sooooo "him"

Gary Oldman is in my top 10 as well....he was awesome awesome awesome

Anyone who thinks they might not like this movie, needs to throw away EVERY conception they have of batman and anyother superhero movie and do themselves a favor and watch it.

oh and I thought the batmobile was kinda cool. Batman Begins was indeed a great title for this movie

I agree. For that matter Spoiler: the microwave emitter was set of on a boat. Boats are on water. The boat didn't suddenly drop onto a pit of steam. Was the microwave set on popcorn or something?

I'm not much of a comic book fan, but Liam looked a lot like Ducard was drawn in the comic books. Of course, the Ducard and Ra's characters were combined for the sake of the storyline in Batman Begins. They are different people in the comic book.

cabbit Upright Location: Riverdale IL	Possibly the best one but I do enjoy the original (that is the non adam west original) and "returns". Hope this series stays as good as it is now because you know they'll make more of them

Lwang9276 Crazy	wow this movie was good.. like others thsi is one of the first movies i saw twice in the theatre. The 2nd time around cleared some stuff up like why did he go to attack mode in the "batmobile" again when he did not even fire anythign. Also his batman voice didnt bother me until like the end, i kinda thought it sounded like him jus a little harsher and others have pointed out that it "is" to hide his identity. Overall great movie! fav line: "Gotham isnt beyond saving" ahaha yea and that "swear to me" was pretty funny.

Eviltree Psycho Location: British Columbia	I loved the movie, it was so wicked. Afterwords I was wondering: Spoiler: the microwave generator evaporates water, correct? people are a large percentage water, correct? Why didn't the microwave emittor boil these people? or the big river there? other than that, I really had no other problems.

spongy Psycho	I thought this movie was brilliant, in fact I would have to say it is my favorite superhero movie.. and I almost always wait at least 6 months before such a pronouncement, but this movie was THAT good. My wife who barely tolerates Sh movies, looooooved this one. She was leaning on the seat in front of her about ten minutes in.. a sure sign of boredom, I asked if she wanted to go see something else ( thinking she wasn't into it) and she turned to me with the look of a kid getting his best xmas gift ever and said ... "this is so fucking good!" ShaniFaye Submit to me, you know you want to Location: Lilburn, Ga	After a very disappointing time seeing the new harry potter movie, we came home and popped in the Batman DVD that a friend had given us. We were so busy with wedding stuff we didnt get to see it in the theater and Dave had already watched it when he was home sick. He was begging me to watch it (Im not much in to comic book/superhero stuff) I finally relented. WOW, I wanted to start the whole dvd over again when it was over. It reminded me of how I felt when I saw superman in the theater all those many moons ago. Im a HUGE Liam Neeson fan (we are talking huge) and to see him play this character was a big big big treat for me.. Dave is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to comic book stuff (I bet he and Gilda would have some great conversations) so after the movie he explained this that and the other and what wasnt "right" about some things, but that they way they presented it, it "worked". I can honestly say that were there to be another one we'll be at the theater opening weekend to see it (Dave is really hoping it WILL be a joker movie, as thats his all time favorite character of all time lol) Mogan Freeman, I would watch him do just about anything and this movie was no exception...he was just sooooo "him" Gary Oldman is in my top 10 as well....he was awesome awesome awesome Anyone who thinks they might not like this movie, needs to throw away EVERY conception they have of batman and anyother superhero movie and do themselves a favor and watch it. oh and I thought the batmobile was kinda cool. Batman Begins was indeed a great title for this movie __________________ *I want the diabetic plan that comes with rollover carbs.
