Smallville - I want a big fight!
I know he dosent have half his powers, and I like the x-files episodes, but I want a slugfest. And not a woosie one with his dad again. A mean, nasty Superman 2 brawl that takes out half the town and some nearby farms. Hit each other with lampposts and cars, get knocked into buildings and splinter trees. Moving so fast noone knows whos involved, the can blame it on a tornado or earthquake. Have Zod pop thru a portal, or the ship morph into Braniac, or Lexcorp build metallo, or someone from the future like eradicator or mongol decide to kill Clark while he is a kid. Im getting sick of him not doing anything but easdrop and look in the girls lockerroom. Time for him to cut loose with all the powers and see what hes made of.

They may have a fight like that at some point, sure, but remember the context of the show in itself. We're meant to simply be watching him as he matures, discovers who he is, and how his powers develop, coupled with lovely teenage angst and all that jazz. That's the root of it. All of the fights and meteor freaks are outer context and supplementary sustenance, the real stuff is in story arcs. Besides, using all his powers and going ape is rather a climactic event, they'll put something totally badass like that near the end of the series (And so far, they're planning on 5 seasons, a good plan i think.)

dude, i am so there with you on this one. teeny bopper demographics be damned, they need to keep a lid on the tiger-beat lana lang weepy eyed shit and remember to kick some ass once in a while to keep the hardcore comic book crowd around. if the writing keeps heading down the toilet this fast, i'm not going to stick around for five seasons. this current plot arc is agonizingly lame and they are relying on the same devices way too heavily.
i thought i was alone on this, but if you haven't checked out Omar G's brilliant smallville commentary on television without pity, you are missing a marvelous bit of hilarity. http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com/show.cgi?show=81

I like that they have Lois Lane as Chloe's cousin. Hopefully they will introduce her as a character in the next season. It would be even better if they just dumped Lana from the show completely.

Chloe changes her pen name permanently to Lois Lane, And Darkseid sends a squad of parademons back in time to kill Clark. The Bat sends Hal, Wally and Diana back undercover to deal with them without Supes finding out. He does, there is a big fight and they blow up a forest and some grain silos. And someone accidentaly calls Chloe 'Clarks wife' in front of Lana. That will liven things up.

Ya I'm also waiting for some more action to happen. It is getting less and less about figthing and more about the girls. It just needs to bring in some more ass kicking. I don't get the WB so i have to download all of the episodes each week, in the progress of doing that now.

I feel you guys on the desire to see some serious ass kicking. Personally Clark is too frickin wimpy. He always has a sad look on his face. GROW SOME BALLS!! He is the strongest person on earth but he acts so weak. He needs to just get with Lana so we can see her as naked as the WB will allow and fight some super villian...maybe they can develop a finishing scene where Clark punches right through the bad guys chest!! Now that would be cool....and also very true to his abilities.

I think that was forshadowing that Chloe IS the proverbial Lois Lane? In the ep Lois was mentioned Chloe said she had no interest in journalism and had given Chloe permission to publish articles under her name.

Ah, while we did hear the fact that lois didnt want anything to do with the paper, and did give chloe permission to use her name, we saw in later episodes, like the one where chloe handed her the talon, that she would indeed step up to the challenge and write for it. We also saw in the episode of krypt/tuck, where she went to the ladies lab to find out whats going on, and all the trouble she went through to find out about chloes death. She will become a reporter, and I think that is thanks to chloe, so no, chloe will not become lois lane, and I dont think they would introduce lois back into smallville as a regular, becuase while they have messed up the original story line a little, they will not go as far as to burn it completely.

GOD YES. I've been convinced that Braniac is chilling in the krypton-mobile the whole time and wants Clark to take over. Obviously this is not your fathers Jor-El telling Clark about his manifest destiny. I, personally, would like to see a Marvel crossover (think superman vs. Capt America or someone), but that won't happen. At least introduce an equal to Clarks strength. Bizarro? DOOMSDAY? Maybe save that one for later. This weeks episode looks more like a sex-fest. Didn't we just have a sex episode in that love-gatoraid ep.? Gah.

I don't watch this show much and I tend to detest Superman on general principal but why do you want him to be getting into knock down drag out superhero fights now? Clark is just a kid still and it doesn't really fit with the history of the character well to have him getting into these superpowered knuckle dusters as a kid. This is fine. Wait for the movie to come out and then you'll have all your superpowered fights fulfilled.

To address Lockjaw's question: the reason I'd like the good old beat down is that the blatently sexual episodes are getting a little tired. We have a wonderfully large dose of angst, and we get to see Clark get a lot from Lana, Chloe, and a plethera of other chicks. That's all well and good, but Superman has some damned good powers. Does anyone remember in Superman the orignal series (episode 95, "The Mysterious Cube", 1957) when Superman walked through a wall? I'd like to see more of that. Remember his breath and vocal abilities? I suppose we'll have to wait for that. So far in this series we have super strength, super speed, super hearing, super x-ray vision, and super heat vision (not counting the ability to fly because that was Kal-El, not Clark). Maybe the writers don't want to overshadow the Dawson's Creek element. Or maybe that's too cynical.
Action Comics #1, the debut of Superman, claimed only that its hero could "leap 1/8th of a mile; hurdle a twenty-story building... raise tremendous weights... run faster than an express train... and that nothing less than a bursting shell could penetrate his skin!" As the years passed, however, the chroniclers endowed the Man of Steel with ever more spectacular powers to enable him to meet ever more exacting challenges.* Today Superman can withstand the heat at the core of the sun, soar through the air at a speed thousands of times the speed of light, and extinguish a star with a puff of his breath as though it were merely a candle on a birthday cake. Perhapse this is supposed to be a kryptonian developmental study..we get to see small powers develope into great powers over a great many years, just as we saw in the Superman of the comics. In his development he tries to mask his powers, as he still does not have the alter-ego to vent his duplicity. That seems to be an explaination of why he doesn't use his powers like he does in the later comic books. We were spoiled with what we get to see him do now, so we feel let down in his Smallville humility. Crap. Rambled on again. |

I would like to see him get out of Smallville more. The episode with Bart saying "why can't we go to Florida" was awesome. In fact, having a young justice league would be really neat to watch.

It would have been great to see him fight the whole football team a few episodes ago. When clark plays football he uses his powers but so sutblely that no one is suspects anything. He always waits for the girl to get knocked out before utterly destroying the his opponent, He and Lois could have taken on 4-5 of the football players and she wouldn't suspect anything.
As for really big fights between clark and someone of equal strength A multi episode story arch ending with an big fight as the season finale would be awesome and much better than the sex story archs they have been using for the past few seasons.

the problem with superhero fights in Smallville, is that superman is pretty damn much invulnerable. Makes fights boring and the outcome inevitable. Fighting through kryptonite is getting really boring. Plus, Clark is not the best fighter and looks clumsy as hell. Smallville shouldn't be watched for superhero fighs.
