Requiem For A Dream, at the end, when Jennifer Connely's charactor is told by the old man at the party to do "Ass to Ass" I looked at that, and it really made me think what drugs could make people do. Great movie!

When the first gay n*****r walks onto the screen, you know you're in for a real treat. It is almost to impossible articulate, in words, the sheer, visionary brilliance of this film.

Julien Garneau-Proulx gives the performance of his life as the janitor's son. Although he spends most of his time cleaning his father's bath house, and he dies rather early at the hands of the Super Gay N****r, he leaves an unforgettable impression on the audience.

The music is amazing as well. "Gay N*****s Eat Pigs and Fly on Penises Made of Ham and Brown Ham, Because They're Gay N*****s" is an oscar-worthy song. This song plays during the scene when Gay N****r Jim rapes a toilet and explodes, and unless you're souless, it will make you cry.

The stuff of legends . . .

While my initial reaction to the above was, "what the fuck?", I have- after some measure of thought- come to the following conclusion:

If they're going to make a movie satirizing a topic as potentially racially- and homophobically-charged as "Gayniggers From Outer Space" (the actual title), we should all be comfortable with laughing at it.

The only way we can truly progress towards being a truly harmonious and enlightened society as a whole, is to reach mutual levels of understanding, am I right?

While it might seem on the edge of appropriate, I think it's a fine example of things that break down walls of anxiety that surround certain topics- i.e., feeling apprehensive about certain types of humor. Just laugh, that's why they made it.

I have two more.

Saving Private Ryan - Most of this movie is genius, but two parts especially are phenominally captivating. The first is where they storm Omaha. Absolutely surreal, if you can't handle gore, try, just for this. The next, and my favorite is the ending when you finally get the big picture and the old man is crying at the grave with his family, he tells his wife "Tell me I've been a good man." and then there's a shot of the American flag blowing in the wind, fade to black.

That's one of the few moments in a movie a man can cry in front of his friends without them calling him a pussy.

Mafia - A video game! It just so happens to have an unreal cool story though, and the ending is absolutely crazy.

Braveheart, Saving Private Ryan moments I totally agree with, but I didn't think Return of the King was all that emotional. Those comments suprise me. The Champ -man, I hadn't thought about that but it was a pretty emotional scene too, and I had forgotten about it.

My addition:
Super cheesey, I know, but in Armageddon, the whole kid that doesn't know who his dad is, much less what he is doing until near the end, and the toy space shuttle storyline really got to me for some reason.

Finale's to Heat, Blade Runner, and Donnie Darko are quite poignant to me, add to that Leon (The Professional). Rutger Hauer played Roy Batty to perfection, his death scene was so incredible, one could really understand the anguish at losing such a mind, such mind-blowing experiences..

OK, so they're not movies, but here I go anyway...

-The last episode of "The Wonder Years," when adult Kevin is talking about what happened to his life, and you hear these incredible stories about these characters that you care about so much. Oh, man. Just reading the monologue makes me tear up.

-Not everyone's seen it, but you all know exactly the type of scene I'm talking about. There's an episode of Animal Hospital where a guy brings in his old dog to put it to sleep, and he has a moment where he's got the dog lying on the table, waiting for the shot, and he's just petting it and talking about how he's been a good dog... ouch. I don't care what cat people say- people get links with their dogs that are something else entirely.

Also, in Hardball with Keanu Reeves - when the little boy is killed by random gunfire and Reeves gives the eulogy about the little boy.

The last episode of Babylon 5, when J. Michael Straczynski turns out the lights on the station and then the whole place is destroyed with ships of all the major alien races witnessing in salute... Ivanova's monologue "B-5 was the last of the Babylon stations, there will never be another. It changed the world, and it changed us...." Beautiful. I cried.
Not a movie, but hollywood wishes they could get than kind of emotion on a regular basis.

Kill Bill: Spoiler: When The Bride enters Bill's condo, walks through with a gun, and walks outside. Her daughter and Bill are outside pointing the toy guns at her, saying "BAM!". Bill falls to the floor, playing dead, so does B.B. The Bride has tears rolling down her face. She realizes that B.B. is her daughter. That whole sequence, even the "Shogun Assassin" sequence was absolutely touching.

In the never ending story when atreyu is leading artex through the swamps of sadness and he starts to sink. Jesus is that sad, but the most moving moment ever captured on film is the israeli army killing a palestinian man and his son who are hiding behind a piece of concrete. That clip would drive me to kill the people doing it.

After seeing that movie many, many times, I'm still moved by the former cowboy asking Doc why he's involved and sticking by Wyatt Earp's side.
"Wyatt Earp is my friend."
"Well hell, I got lots of friends."
"I don't."

And that always sets me up to bawl hard at the end when Wyatt Earp says "Thanks for always being there, Doc."

Also, La Vita Bella, when Joshua finds his mother at the end. The kind of joy that makes you cry, you know.

God i feel like such a nerd for getting incredibly emotional during the whole Empire Strikes Back carbon freezing of Han Solo... the entire thing just gives me goosebumps.

Requiem for a Dream really destroyed my world for about two days, I couldn't sleep, didnt really eat... the entire movie was so powerful it killed me.

Old Boy, at the end when he opens the purple package and discovers the truth... great acting!

Two Towers, when Gandalf charges down the hill and the music is playing, and the sun beams over the hill, god i've got insane goosebumps just thinking about it... most powerful scene in the entire trilogy

Second to this would have to be Boromir's death, wow... Sean Bean has got to be one of my favorite actors all time.

Oh Platoon! Elias' death is haunting... just chills the bones, I am going to watch this movie tomorrow now just to experience it again.

Godfather, when Michael's wife (her name slipps my mind sadly) is outside his study, as the two goons pay their respects, and the doors close... wow, that's powerful!

(I am not an emotional person, but basically the whole end of the movie, no matter how many times I've seen it, has me bawling practically.

so many scenes, but my favorite one is where Rick and Victor are in Rick's office, and Victor is trying to get the exit visas. When into the bar come a bunch of Germans singing German songs about the piano. Victor heads down the stairs and has the band play Les Marseilles, and the entire bar basically out sings the Germans.... (OK, and get sthe bar shut down too)
Awesome movie if you haven't seen it.

The very end of the movie, we're looking at his grave marker and the survivors are placing a single stone on top of his marker. The stones add up and the camera pulls back to show the line of people snaking off into the distance...

The full weight of what one person was able to accomplish is haunting.

This scene hit me quite hard in a indirect manner. I was watching the movie together with my 4 year old daughter and towards the end, where the movies gets quite sad, i looked at her, and she had big tears rolling down her cheeks. She was quietly crying for the Giant... THAT choked me up

Lots of good ones have been posted... Don't know if someone mentioned it, but at the end of Apollo 13 when they were returning through the atmosphere, and 4 minutes had passed and everyone wondered whether or not they made it... Then the cameras picked up the return module parachuting down and Tom Hanks comes through on the radio, and everyone in the NASA control station jumps up and starts cheering. That makes me cry every time.

*Requiem For A Dream - it's hard to pick only one moment out of this movie, so i'll just name three . The entire end sequence, the first scene (where Harry and Tyrone take the tv from Harry's mother), and this following bit of dialogue -

Sara Goldfarb: I'm somebody now, Harry. Everybody likes me. Soon, millions of people will see me and they'll all like me. I'll tell them about you, and your father, how good he was to us. Remember? It's a reason to get up in the morning. It's a reason to lose weight, to fit in the red dress. It's a reason to smile. It makes tomorrow all right. What have I got Harry, hm? Why should I even make the bed, or wash the dishes? I do them, but why should I? I'm alone. Your father's gone, you're gone. I got no one to care for. What have I got, Harry? I'm lonely. I'm old.

*Also, Amores Perros - the part where the "homeless" man comes back to his shed to find that the dog he saved had slaughtered the other dogs. It's crushing enough taken at face value, but when looking at it as a metaphor for humanity...

*Se7en - Mills' moment of realisation at the climax, the scene where Mills, Somerset and his wife are having dinner (these two being interrelated as one intensifies the impact of the other)

*Blade Runner - scenes already mentioned

*Donnie Darko - final scene where Gary Jules' cover of mad World starts playing...plenty of other great moments in the film but this is the best

I have to say the two scenes from animated movies that have been mentioned, The Iron Giant and Transformers, both get to me everytime.

I am also always moved by The Color Purple where Ceily and her children are reunited. I hold it together pretty well until the son says "Mama" in that odd African accent.

Lately I have been thinking about a scene from Boogie Nights. It is not particularly moving, I just feel that it is extremely well done. The scene I am talking about is when the main character and his 2 junkie friends go to the drug dealer's house intending to rob him. They take a bag of fake cocaine to sell the guy in order to get inside. All three of them are strung out and the suspense in the room is almost overwhelming. The combination of the visual atmosphere, the nervous tics and twitches of the 3 junkies, and the crazy chinese kid randomly blowing up firecrackers was making me nervous. Everyone in the room knows what is coming except the drug dealer and the junkies are freaking out about the possibility of being found out about the fake drugs and nervous about the robbery. The drug dealer is high and very animated, making every one even more nervous. I think at one point he starts to wave his new gun around. The entire time his armed bodyguard is standing silently in the background. But I think the key aspect of the scene is the music. The drug dealer is blasting music out of his stereo. He keeps going on about his own personal mix tapes that are all these pounding 80's songs. At one point, the tape suddenly cracks to a stop, resulting in complete silence while it changes sides. Eventually "Sister Christian" comes on and the building crescendo before the "motorin' " part just takes the suspense thru the ceiling until the whole scene explodes.

The one that gets me more than any other, though, is in 'To Kill A Mockingbird' when all the black spectators in court stand up for Atticus Finch. Wow. Nowadays I start crying about 5 minutes early just anticipating it.
