Apocolypse Now... original vs. redux
 

Personally, I prefer the redux over the original, but I must admit that the original is better for re-watching.

I've only seen the redux version :)

Although, i daresay that i could tell which scenes were added, as they weren't essential, however they added some dimensions to the story-line (without seeming too bloated).

I'll have to watch it again though, but the redux version has about an hour of extra footage and goes for 200+ minutes! So you'll need some spare time for it :)

redux or not, awesome movie, especailly Brando at the end! :D

I almost always prefer a more fleshed out story, and Apocalypse now is no exception.

Definitly redux. The plantation scene gives a better look at the French presence in Vietnam, and the additional playboy bunny scene adds a lot in showing how insane things were.

Apocalypse Now is my favorite movie. I've never seen Redux, and I almost don't want to. The movie was great the way it was, and I don't think it needed anything added to it. Of course since I haven't seen Redux I can't say which is better. All I can say is that for now, I'm going to stick with my original.

I think Redux is just drawn on to long. I watched it with a friend who had never seen the original, and he thought it was abit boring at times.

I have to agree with Batman976. Apocalypse Now isn't my favorite movie, but it's still great and I'm scared to see redux. I'm afraid it will ruin my love for Apocalypse Now somehow.

This post caught me off guard so much that I started laughing.

By the way, what is the difference between the two A.N.s? What does Redux mean?

Anleja - Redux is the re-released version of Apocalypse Now with 40 minutes of additional footage that Francis Ford Coppola had to leave out of the original.

Personally I think both cuts are excellent, but Redux is better.

Most people may have found it too lengthy, but I loved it.
