4 episodes left in the season i think.
i'm not sure we can rule out drugs/suicide since the show seems intent on beating that horse to death. pregnancy would be interesting but I think they'll avoid it because giving someone a kid does nothing for the show and I seriously doubt that Fox is going to go the abortion route. I keep wondering when the're going to give seth and summer a serious storyline instead of using them only as comic relief. The ryan drama is getting to be a bit too repetative -- how many times can that guy get in a fist fight before everyone changes the channel? |

No, technically we're still watching the first season. It's just that fox has taken such long breaks that it seems like we're watching the second or third season.
Pregnancy would be a good guess. There are all sorts of possibilities that would fit in with The O.C.'s style. Perhaps Theresa is pregnant with Ryan's child. Or maybe Julie is pregnant with Luke's. I can't see Marissa or Summer getting pregnant. My guess would be Theresa.

julie pregnant with Luke's child? That's far too out there, and would have every single parent activist group on Fox's case like you wouldn't believe.
I'd bank on something like Jimmy being pregnant with Kiersten's sister's kid or something. (can't think of her name, just that she's hawt)

i think the julie pregnant thing is too far out there -- i'm with batman, it'll probalby be teresa if anyone. The'll be a big work up about if the kid is ryan's (which should facillitate another round of punching eddie -- woohoo.) but in the end it will be eddie's kids which is A-OK for fox cause the're getting married and the right wing shouldn't get too piced off at them .

So, brianna and I were talking yesterday, and she posited that Fox will continue to kill off all characters until the only people that are left actually like Coop.
Yikes, I say. Seriously, what is up with Caleb? Does he really "know" all there is to know about the slutty Coop? (this, for the benefit of anyone clued out, does not yet refer to Jimmy, who will soon be sleeping with Sandy if he doesn't rein in his gonads) Speaking of which, the prize for "worst kept secret relationship" will be going to Jimmy and Haley. Honourable mention goes to Luke the Blurter. Get well, Lukey, and maybe you can spin-off "The OC - Pacific Northwest" [/sass] |

This is season two... the show was a mid-season replacement. The first 6 episodes were ordered for a summer release. If they'd bombed there would never have been a season two...

Any word on them running some sort of full season marathon on FX this summer?
I've only watched bits and pieces of this show but I'm sure I would love it if I watched it from the start. I've got the biggest crush on Adam Brody since he was on Gilmore Girls

Good episode this week. I'll definately be looking forward to the final episode of the season. I loved Sandy's reaction to Jimmy punching Caleb.

My wife and I watch it every week, and the main entertainment value for us is;
1) Who will Ryan tackle this week? 2) How will Ryan and Marissa find yet another way to start completely over? Also, we're both big fans of Gilmore Girls, and Seth Cohen was a regular on that show up until this season. The funny thing is that on Gilmore Girls, they wrote him off the show by having him suddenly move to California. Cute.

So, now we have the upcoming wedding (ooh, I wonder what will happen there...), the teen pregnancy, the interfamilial dating (Jimmy, Hailey, Kirsten), and a growing number of love triangles:
- Seth/Summer/ Summer's Father/Anna, - Kirsten/Hailey/Jimmy, - Ryan/Theresa/Marissa, - Julie/Caleb/Luke, - Sandy/ his left eyebrow/his right eyebrow .... what will be next? Any predictions as to who fights at the wedding? Any predictions as to who, if anyone, actually gets MARRIED? All snarkiness aside, this show continues to be strangely appealing (something I may never live down in my household). Also, did anyone else notice that in the episode where Seth is trying on clothes to go meet Summer's father, that his teeth were ridiculously white? (almost in contention with Ross's, on Friends) Last edited by kulrblind; 04-30-2004 at 05:52 AM.. |

My predictions:
Fights at the wedding: Marissa and Ryan Haley and Jimmy Seth and Summer Julie and Caleb will get married. Teresa will turn out not to be pregnant or pregnant with her ex-fiancee's baby and she'll move to Atlanta or wherever.

Was anyone else disappointed with tonights season finale? I guess I was expecting more crazy stuff to happen, and for it to leave me hanging a little more? I mean c'mon they're not actually going to get rid of Seth and Ryan as charecters so...I dunno I don't see the big draw back come next fall. The whole episode just seemed kinda bland to me I guess, no real crazyiness or excitment like there normally is.

BBBIIIGGG disappointment for a season finale!
Yccchhh! And here's the official Fox blurb about tonight's show: The O.C. The Ties That Bind 60 mins. You are cordially invited to the wedding of gold digger Julie Cooper and filthy rich Caleb Nichol. So don't expect a happy ending. “People will be upset, but they won't be disappointed,” hints producer Josh Schwartz, who refuses to spoil the drama's hush-hush first-season finale. What he will say is that “it's not a laugh riot” and that the hour “tears the world apart” for several players. What this means for Ryan, Coop and the rest of the Newpsie scene remains to be seen, but count on at least one fistfight. Because, you know, that is how it's done. Visit our The O.C. ShowGuide Cast: Adam Brody, Benjamin McKenzie, Kelly Rowan, Mischa Barton, Peter Gallagher, Tate Donovan, Alan Dale, Amanda Righetti Content: Suggestive Dialog Release Year: 2004 So, other than Sandy's eyebrows knocking together, where was the fistfight??

I watched most of it. From what I saw Theresa was contimplating getting an abortion. She later changed her mind, decided to keep the baby and move back to Chino. Ryan made the choice to leave the oc, and move back to Chino to support Theresa, as he is asuming he is the father. Umm, Julie and Caleb got married. Ryan and Marissa danced at the reception, Marissa said she loved Ryan. Ryan had the patented silent reaction. Seth got all pissed off about Ryan moving away, and tried to make everyone feel sorry for him, because now he will have no more friends. So he ends up sailing away into the sunset. That is what i got from it, i missed the begining, and alot in the middle.

I guess I'm not too surprised by the lack of action. After all, they threw every combination of sitcom occurrences at us in all the other episodes.
Seth sailing away (presumably to Tahiti) on a tiny catamaran with no food or water is a pretty stupid plot line. I mean he's been mooning over Summer his whole life and knew Ryan for maybe a year and he's gonna abandon "the love of his life"? Come on. Maybe he's just sailing his cheesy little boat to some other marina to get some cash for it.

I liked the episode... I thought there was some sweet irony that Caleb is going to be broke and Jimmy will have millions... Imagine the look on Julie's face when she finds out.
Ryan going back to Chino... clearly he can't stay there forever so something has to happen. My bet is Theresa miscarries or they both move back to live in the pool house when they find they can't go back to Chino. Seth sailing off... Clearly tahiti isn't in the cards, I don't think he's that stupid. Likely ran off to Catalina to get a summer job. Marisa is on the booze in her Xanadu like mansion. How long before she reveals that she only moved back to make her Dad rich again? God it must suck to play that character...

I guess I'm from a completely different generation than today's kids, but ONLY on TV do I see young men act relieved and happy that their girlfriend decided AGAINST the abortion.

I don't know that he was all THAT relieved... resigned is more like it.
But then it is hard to read one smoldering look from the next...

I bet Teresa ends up having a black baby, Ryan gets upset and moves back with the Cohens. Also, I predict next season Seth dies of cancer.

In any case, I think that Ryan WILL return to the OC, simply because he's the key character. Without him, none of the other characters stories become developed or are interesting at all.

how do we have an entire episode centered around an unwanted pregnancy where we don't know who the daddy is and NO ONE mentions birth control? why was there no, "hey ryan, you slept with her once, did you use a condom cause that little fact may clear a few things up." ?
i also enjoyed how they never said the word abortion.. it must be on the new FCC dirty word list. |
