Simpsons Movie

http://www.cinescape.com/0/editorial...his_cat=Movies

DVD Fanatic has an interview with THE SIMPSONS producer Mike Reiss and landed a whopper of a scoop: word that development on a SIMPSONS theatrical movie is underway and that there's even an estimated release date for the project!

"It’s been 13 years of wanting to do THE SIMPSONS Movie," explained Reiss to DVD Fanatic. "Finally FOX said, 'Let’s just do it!' We never had the greatest idea that was compelling but FOX said, 'Maybe if we start paying you, you’ll get inspired.' And sure enough it worked! We’ve got a very good and interesting idea and it’s different from the show. You know, it’s like the SOUTH PARK movie where it’s just a bigger, longer, amplified version of the show. I can’t tell you anything specific about it. My wife doesn’t even know the secret."

Reiss estimated that we could wind up seeing THE SIMPSONS on the silver screen as soon as the summer of 2006 or possibly during that year's holiday season. "It's a reality after being just sort of this phantom idea," adds Reiss. "I think it is really gonna happen."

2006? can't wait!

pta200 02-17-2004 12:37 PM

awsome!

Redjake 02-17-2004 01:27 PM

That show is gonna go on FOREVER. This is seriously insane!

If it ever does end, I'm gonna cry...:(!

But anyways, I'll anxiously await the movie. I don't think that they could fuck anything like this up, since every episode is something new. The movie will just be like another episode...only lasting about an hour and a half this time.

Spartak 02-18-2004 12:57 AM

Yes, but its an hour of AMPLIFIED Simpsons comedy :D!

Wow, I can't wait! Hopefully the writing will be spot-on.

Batman976 02-18-2004 07:53 AM

I think I'd rather have a Futurama movie. Not that I wouldn't go see a Simpsons movie. It should be good.

the_marq 02-18-2004 09:18 AM

They seriously need to convince Conan O'Brien to contribute to the script. Otherwise severe suckiness will ensue. He was the best thing that show ever had going for it.

I still love the Simpsons, but miss the Conan episodes.

moonstrucksoul 02-18-2004 10:48 AM

i hope that it is great, is it just me or is 'the Simpsons' losing its' massive audience, and appeal? i feel that way, I still love the show, but i am not highly motivated to watch every week.

wordssmith22 02-18-2004 06:45 PM

please please please...

don't have the same slapstick homer that's been playing for the past few seasons. it's really weak and it's the thing that has killed the series the most for me, as an avid fan. hopefully they get back on track, like the guy said with Conan, and all that.

VF19 02-18-2004 07:20 PM

This will be a major hit, possibly up there with LoTR and HP.

Great, cant wait.

diergray 02-18-2004 08:20 PM

I can't wait to see it. The South Park movie was brilliant. I expect no less from the Simpsons.

goddfather40 02-18-2004 08:51 PM

This is way overdue. I predict, if it is good, that it could cause sort of a "Simpsons renaissance," which would be totally cool.

ace81385 02-18-2004 10:26 PM

Ive been waitng my whole life for this WOooT!!

cleanx 02-19-2004 02:03 AM

simpsons are great but i think its gonna suck
i havent been likeing the new episodes for the last 2 years

hulk 02-19-2004 06:27 AM

You know why? It's incredibly hard to come up with new material for a half-hour episode if you've been running a show for years and years and years. This movie, though, should allow for some of that classic feelin' to get back in =)

next: Family Guy does america
Cheerio!

bookerV 02-19-2004 08:14 AM

at last!!

ever since that halloween 3D episode i've heard ramblings of a simpsons movie in one form or another. its good to FINALLY be able to have it confirmed with a date.

i heard on the radio yesterday morning that there were plans in the works to finally make a movie, but its very nice to hear a date set on it. looks like no bungee jumping for me for the next couple of years, i dont need to take any chances. must see simpsons movie!!

PoteMatic 02-19-2004 09:52 AM

I love the simpsons i cant wait.

Can't... because Beavis and Butthead already did it. :)

johnsmith 02-19-2004 11:11 AM

As much as I enjoy the Simpsons, I think this will kill the series. Taking what works for 20 minutes of programming and trying to make 1 1/2 or 2 hours of it work is very difficult.

World's King 02-19-2004 07:18 PM

Mmmmmmmmm... movie theater popcorn... Ahhhhhhhhh.

I have a hard-on right now.

kpxrob 02-21-2004 09:58 AM

a simpsons movie would be great! i would definetly go and watch it. hehehe cant wait

philosopherking 02-24-2004 10:17 PM

Mike Reiss spoke at my school back on the 18th, talked a bit about the movie. Sounds like it'll be pretty good, although he jokingly says that it will most likely "blow ass".

sadatx 02-25-2004 12:23 AM

I can't say I'm as excited as everyone. I'd hate for the movie to come along and just suck (or "blow ass" as Reiss said).

So hear's some cautious enthusiasm.

brandon11983 03-01-2004 04:32 PM

I'd see it just because it's The Simpsons. I'd have high hopes that it justified the new, unfunny episodes.

Zander 03-02-2004 01:18 AM

Am I the only one who doesn't like the Simpsons?

 Hillarious, but true. I knew there had to be one person in this world. Now I know who it is.....sort of.....

LordEden 03-05-2004 12:45 AM

Never been a big simpson's fan, but I do know alot of people who don't like them. I try to watch the show when I can, especally the older eps, classic. I'd love to go see it on the big screen. As for it not being to swtich mediums, the same thing was said about south park and it fucking rocked. I think they can do it and I can't wait to see it.

mastboyx 03-08-2004 01:58 PM

i love the simpsoons!!! yeaah i love the simpsoons!!!

MexicanOnABike 03-13-2004 12:38 PM

this season sucked! yes, there was a few laughs but not nearly as good as a few years ago... GIVE ME A GOOD FUNNNNNNY STORY!

justinh28 03-15-2004 02:03 PM

the guy that does the simpsons is seriously the most creative person

aarchaon 03-17-2004 06:58 PM

Huzzah.

Aletheia 03-18-2004 12:04 AM

Hopfully it will be nothing like the new eposides and more like the older, better Simpsons.

Bobaphat 03-18-2004 12:18 AM

This will either be really great, or an absolute tragedy. I am definately hoping for great. As homer says, I want them to keep on making the simpsons until it becomes unprofitable, and hopefully this movie keeps teh profits pouring in
