Death of the Buffyverse
(I know there are SOME Joss fans around here...)
So, the WB decided to cancel Angel. Bleah @ them...I was pretty surprised, the ratings seemed to be rising. And after seeing a list of shows that WILL be coming back...well...I just don't get it. And from Joss? This was posted at www.bronzebeta.com: Quote:

That's too bad for the fans.
I can't get WB, but I've watched Buffy on FX for years and liked it. I didn't get into Angel though when it came out on TNT or TBS or whatever. The one I was pissed off about them cancelling though, was Firefly.

Other than that ep, though, things have been pretty good. "You're Welcome" (with Cordelia) and "Damage" (with the psycho slayer) especially...

I was (am) a big fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but oddly enough I started watching it after I had been watching Angel.
I've been a fan of Angel but have been frustrated time and again with the direction the show has wandered. I loved the first two seasons but the last two were a jumble. There were some real problematic turns (IMO). However, I still like the characters, the universe they are set in, and have faith that at least 75% of the episodes will be good. This season has been an interesting reboot of the show and it seems to be going somewhere interesting. It is the only show (I used to watch Angel and Buffy back to back) left that I watch on a regular basis. This sucks...

...an Angel movie... that would work for me. It's already a very cinematic tv show.

I was greiving over the end of Buffy for quite a while. Angel had gotten pretty sad though not quite as bad as Buffy's Initiative series. I saw the first episode of this last series last week and it seems to of fixed itself quite a bit. Im excited for a good series. But now that excitement is tainted as I know it will be the final series. I hope it at least goes out well like Buffy did.

Angel has had its problems, like Buffy -- too much unremitting grimness, among other things -- but it was perking up this season. One of the great things they did early on is show how the whole demon/magic world could exist in LA and just be ignored by "normal" people, accepted as some kind of cultural background noise that looked kinda weird but that nobody wanted to spend time looking at too closely.
That was actually the great metaphor of Angel -- all the stuff that's happening around us everyday, that we don't pay attention to. Sure, in the real world the stuff we ignore is not demonic -- but it can be pretty strange, and pretty harmful. I liked the first year or two best, but I liked more shows than not this season, especially the one about the Mexican wrestlers. And my favorite Angel episode, from the second season, will always be "Are You Now, or Have You Ever Been..." about Angel in the '50s. A brilliant piece of work. |

I dont think Angel ever got to the level Buffy was at, especially Series 1 - 3 of Buffy, but it was still a really good show, it sucks that it is getting cancelled. I cant believe the Buffyverse is really dead though, maybe a new slayer show could come out, with a different angle? I heard they were pushing an animated show based around Buffy in Junior High...
I think Angel always struggled to find its stride or make up its mind just what sort of show it wanted to be, but it still had great characters and a great potential to work with.

Buffy hell. Get Willow on there...now! Every single episode that they have left! Quick...it's their only hope!
Yeah...I'm biased a little.

I can see Joss getting another show off the ground in a few year's time... The Buffyverse is too rich a souce to not mine it.
As for the animated buffy (used to have it as my avatar but lost it when my laptop was stolen) it died on the vine. In the meantime I get my rocks off watching the DVDs of old eps, watching Angel (the puppet episode was great BTW) and playing the video games on my X Box...

An online friend is helping out with http://www.savingangel.org/index.html ...great site, if anyone would like to help out. The focus is getting Angel to another network, rather than trying to convince the WB to keep it.

Sorry to disagree, but in my opinion, Joss Whedon = bleh.
On another teen kicking ass note, I still miss Dark Angel. I know the show kinda sucked, but that's not why I watched it. lol

From IMDB-
Fans Protest the End of 'Angel' Fans of Buffy, The Vampire Slayer spin-off Angel have joined forces on the internet to protest the axing of the supernatural show. Last week, bosses at America's Warner Bros (WB) TV network announced Angels fifth and current series would be its final, which has prompted more than 45,000 Angel devotees to sign an online petition at [url]www.Petitiononline.Com - LINK to keep the drama alive. And a representative at WB admits the fans' efforts may not be in vain, explaining, "It (helped) Roswell. It was as good as gone and the big fan campaign brought it back."

...... maybe someone with some money an power will relize Joss's genius and make another series in the same world or carry on angel..... but luck isnt that nice
I personally would like to see a willow series so far alot of focus has been on vampire/slayer but this world is perfect to see a good witch series <though I want to see a vampire series as well> lmao anyway I hope things work out cause right now I really really really DISLIKE WB and thats being diplomatic

*sniff* I'll really miss the Buffy-verse. Some buddies and I used to gather every Tuesday specifically for Buffy and it's made my Tuesday's seem a little more bland this year.
Now to lose Angel too... Guess it's time I checked out the comic series, I need some kind of Buffyness...

Did someone say Willow?
Damn, I was truly disappointed when on the last episode of Angel they couldn't track her down... I was hoping for a guest appearance... Oh well.
