The Salton Sea -A movie Recommendation
This movie has a twist in it so I don't want to give it away. Basically the movie is about Crank, Crystal, Meth -whatever you want to call it. It's more than a drug culture movie though -it has some insights into human nature that are interesting.
It stars Val Kilmer as a speed freak/police informant who hangs out with some losers and busts various scumbags. Basically the movie starts when the police he works for -cut him loose. He then tries to score one last time with a meth cook known as "Pooh Bear" -so called because he has no nose. (So named because Winnie the pooh got his nose caught in a honey jar.) Anyways it's a good movie and I recommend it. Some pictures: |

Val Kilmer's tattoo in this is what got me to finally rent the movie, and I was very pleasantly suprised. The twist was definitely something I didn't see coming, but I agree, a definite two thumbs up!

Very cool. Pretty simple story but well executed. I loved his style in the movie. Really 'good on the inside but crazy on the outside!' style

Salton Sea is badass. Just when you start to get bored and think its just about tweekers geeting stoned all day, BAM, it flips on you into the real story.
If you like Salton Sea, checkout "Wonderland" with Val Kilmer as John Holmes in a true-story of his washed-up druggie days of crime. I really dig Val Kilmer's choices in film lately. They all seem to have some artistic form. He's definately not doing movies to make money. |
