I really do think that Anthony and Scott are lasting way longer than they should have.

Not to mention, most of these categories are stupid. Showtunes? Give me a break.

K-Wise 04-14-2005 07:21 PM

Yeah even though I like Scott(his voice) I feel his time on the chopping block is coming up soon. It's getting pretty good this year. I don't think they've ever really had this much variety eh?

Asta!!

mrklixx 04-14-2005 07:32 PM

I thought Scott was great at the beginning, but he seems to have no stamina, and unlike some of the other people who are getting better with each performance, IMO he is getting worse. And neither Scott or Federov will ever be as talented as Nadia is.

K-Wise 04-14-2005 07:54 PM

^ Yeah I can agree with that whole heartedly.

Asta!!

darkangel 04-15-2005 07:52 AM

Agree with all that has been said. My dad was pissed that Nadia left because she was his favorite and most marketable in his opinion. It's time for Scott and Anthony to get the boot.

thales 04-19-2005 12:15 PM

OK. Regardless of what happens tonight, I believe the bottom three must be Scott, Anthony and Anwar. The other four are far better than those three. Depending on the performances, either Scott or Anthony should be the one to go. Whichever survives this week, the other should go next week. Leaving Anwar as the last of those three to go.

That would leave Carrie, Bo, Constantine and Vonzell as the top 4. Once it gets to those 4, I have no freakin' clue.

K-Wise 04-19-2005 12:22 PM

^ You and I both man. And I hope it's Federov, but if it's Scott I'll prolly be cool with that too.

Asta!!

ShaniFaye 04-19-2005 05:09 PM

There is no way I can pick a bottom 3 tonite....amazingly Scott did one of the songs I love a lot and he did it well. I cant stand Macarther park but Carrie did it very well. Bo picked the perfect song.

I think this week the voting will reflect a popularity contest not a singing contest

I'll take a stab at it.

I agree that Scott did well and his performance might well lift him out of the bottom three (it certainly lifted him out of my bottom three). The obvious loser of the night was Anthony...God he sucked. I also thought Anwar version was mostly out of tune and he should join Anthony in the bottom three.

But if Scott's not in the bottom three, who should join Anthony and Anwar?

My choice is Carrie. Yes she is one of the better singers in the competition, but sometimes that's not enough. Her problem last night was (i) song choice and (ii) she was "pitchier" last night than ever before. But that wouldn't necessarily be enough to drop her into the bottom three.

What does get her in the bottom three is that the woman seems to have no emotion. She smiles and acts all "cutesy", but I always get the feeling that she's working too hard to hit the notes and less so on connecting emotionally with the song she's singing. There are many examples of successful recording artists who only have OK voices, but can emote. There are very few examples of such artists that can't connect emotionally. The eventually find themselves singing on cruise ships and wondering why they never made the big time.

Do I think Carrie should be voted off this week? Not at all. But I think she should be in the bottom three.

K-Wise 04-20-2005 09:29 AM

^ I completely agree with the above statement about Carrie. Watching her last night was strange. Because while the vocals were actually quite good the performance itself was boring. Poor girl she doesn't have a whole lot of stage presence...she can't move lol. She could learn a lot from Vonzell. Technically Carrie may have the better voice but Vonzell is more of a package than her because she can work a crowd. I don't want Vonzell to win though ;).

I too think she of the bunch COULD go in the bottom three but I don't know if she will be or if I would put her there myself. I have a knack for not giving Scott enough credit for how many actual fans he may have..I'd think he has one of the lowest fan bases but after seeing him beat out Nadia I honestly don't know anymore.

Bo definitely picked the perfect song. Dude kicked ass last night. I was waiting for that. Bo has a problem too that he can't get out of blues rock too well. I'm glad he had the Ides Of March to pick last night. Because I hate to say it but over the previous weeks he was getting kind of boring and his voice was starting to sound monotonous a bit. But last night he was all on. Afterwards I was like "Yeah! Alright!"

This was exactly what I was trying to say about Nadia.

K-Wise 04-20-2005 05:37 PM

^ No Nadia's voice was actually QUITE good. Much like a young Tina Turner. And she had loads of presence. I was definitely saddened when she left.

Well looks like Anwar is now gone. It should have been Federov but it was Anwar...I probably would have put Anwar ahead of Scott too actually....Anwar isn't as good as Paula or the others made him out to be but he was far from the worst singer at this point. I'm not too saddened as I wanted him to go eventually but I do think he should have been givin a LITTLE bit longer of a stay.

Just remember, Clay Aiken is having an amazing time right now. Therefore, to be an American Idol runner-up is not the end of the world, or a career. There are so many excellent performers this time. I feel sure that the top two or even three will launch a successful career.

mrklixx 04-21-2005 04:19 AM

Did anybody else catch Federov totally blowing his cue in the group song? Other than that, though, I thouht it was thier best group song so far.

"American Idol" host gets star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Associated Press

LOS ANGELES - The "Idol"-maker has become an idol himself.

"American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday in a ceremony attended by his TV colleagues, "Idol" judges Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell.

"Listen, Simon," Jackson said to Cowell, during their ceremonial speech. "What would we say about this day?"

"Ill-deserved," the famously grumpy Cowell replied, dryly. "I cannot believe that April the 20th is going to be Ryan Seacrest Day. I am officially taking this day off my diary."

Seacrest, 30, a 15-year radio veteran, confessed, "I remember getting up this morning at 3:30 a.m. on my way in to do the morning show, and I thought, 'One person is going to come today. . . . . I thought this would be the most unpopular star dedication ever."

Seacrest drew at least a few dozen fans, but, as usual, it was Cowell who seemed to steal the spotlight.

After the ceremony Seacrest told Associated Press Television News, "I actually thought it was a joke when I heard that they were going to do this."

Cowell seemed to share that sentiment, "(This is) one of those things you dread. It just makes me unhappy. I think other people doing well, just naturally makes me unhappy - especially if they're friends."
I mean the dude couln't even maintain a day-time talk show! And only a few dozen fans showed up? That sounds like a Hollywood legend to me.

K-Wise 04-21-2005 03:47 PM

This looks interesting......

http://apnews.myway.com//article/200...D89MO09O0.html

LOS ANGELES (AP) - ABC will air a news special examining what the network called "explosive" allegations about the hit TV talent contest "American Idol."

The hourlong "Primetime Live" report by anchor John Quinones is scheduled for 10 p.m. EDT Wednesday, May 4.

Describing "American Idol" as a cultural phenomenon, ABC said it will "explore explosive claims about behind-the-scenes activities" at the show.

Details about the planned report were unavailable, an ABC News spokesman in New York said. A call seeking comment from Fox was not immediately returned Monday.

"American Idol," in its fourth season and one of television's top-rated programs, gives singers a shot at a record contract.

Judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul winnow the field down in the early rounds, with viewers then deciding on the finalists and the winner.

Past idols are Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard and Fantasia Barrino.

The show is valuable not only to Fox but to 19 Entertainment, which oversees recording deals for "American Idol" stars as well as merchandising, touring, sponsorship and movies.

While ratings have remained strong, there's been consistent fan grumbling about overloaded phone systems that have made it tough for some viewers to cast votes.

"American Idol" also has been shadowed by contestants who were bounced after they failed to disclose personal information.

Corey Clark, dropped from the show in 2003 after producers learned about a past arrest, reportedly is trying to sell a tell-all book about his experiences with the program.

K-Wise 04-25-2005 06:21 PM

^ I'm gonna have to keep my eye out for that one. I've already seen simliar things with behind the scenes interviews..one with Ryan's ex co-host. He didn't say anything particularly scandalous though.

METHOD MAN!!!

Method Man was in the audience!! Holy f***** buckin! And listed as "Scotts Friends" no less!! Man I never woulda thought he even watched the show! To have one of my heroes and one of the most respected emcees in the game watch the show makes me think maybe an emcee could still get respect for his craft even if he was on American Idol...I'd still never audition but it's cool none the less!

Crazy!

Asta!!

K-Wise 04-26-2005 05:27 PM

Oh and everyone pretty much sucked tonight. I was dissapointed. At this stage I expected to see 5 great performances and I didn't see one truely great one. Federov was actually one of the better performances of the night. I think the bottom 3 this week should be Vonzell, Scott(though I'd still it rather be Federov), and Constantine/Carrie...neither did anything for me tonight..except Carrie hasn't really been doing anything for me for weeks now. My only argument for her is that she is the only one of her kind left on the show. Theres 2 rockers, and 2 R&B/Soul singers, she's the only country singer left. I'd rather see a country girl win it than another R&B/Soul singer but I'm still gunning for a rocker this year.

Asta!!

Never thought I'd find myself agreeing with that statement. It seemed like he was the only one even close to singing in key. Just about every one of them made the crappiest possible song choice.

thales 04-27-2005 06:46 AM

It's all academic anyway

Me too.

That said, my bottom three this week should be Scott, Carrie and Anthony.

Funny, I said last night before the show that I have been waiting for Constantine to falter a bit. Before we got into the final 12, he was pretty much average. For the past six weeks, he has been consistantly entertaining. But last night, moving into the realm of contemporary music, he pretty much sucked.

While Anthony was better that Constantine last night (I thought), he has blown chunks the last six weeks. Constantine has been consistently good until last night. That has to count for something.

I guess it doesn't really matter in the end as Scott will most likely be the one to go tonight...

thales 04-28-2005 05:10 AM

Constantine?

Constinatine? CONSTANTINE? Are you fucking kidding me!?!? And Scott wasn't even in the bottom three!?!?

The last truly entertaining "Idol" is gone (Bo is great and Vonzell is good, but they're not particularly entertaining). Every week, I always looked forward to hearing what Constantine was going to sing.

My only theory on this idiocy is the following:

(i) A lot of viewers must really hate Simon and his "Pack your bags" comment must have put people into a voting frenzy...(i.e. - one vote for my favorite/one vote for Scott). In many ways, Scott not being in the bottom three this week was a referendum on Simon.

(ii) Constantine hasn't pick up any votes over the past few weeks. As others have been voted off, those votes have gone to Carrie, Vonzell and Anthony.

Anyway, I'm willing to bet that Bo's vote totals go through the roof next week as the vast majority of Constantine's votes will likely go to him. It's just a shame that Scott and Anthony are still in this and Constantine is out.

While I thought Scott leaving this week was a sure thing, I think this week's vote seals the deal that Scott will be a goner next week.

Ultimately, I wish each contestant had two numbers: one if you want to vote for them and one if you want to vote against them. That would make it interesting.

K-Wise 04-28-2005 03:36 PM

^ I feel the same way man. I was Sooooooooo pissed that Constantine left last night. I know some will laugh at it but he was actually my choice to win it all. I didn't like him at first but like you said he got consistently better as the weeks went by. Bo got monotonous to me...I always found Carrie to be boring..good singer, sometimes great, but NO presence at all..the only other person I liked as much as Const was Nadia. Well now I'm definitely gonna start voting..and voting for Bo..cause that fuckin sucks.

Strange I got my wish for bottom 3 I just hoped it was gonna be FEDEROV!! Grrr

Edit: Let me also say that if Bo gets voted off I'm not even gonna watch it anymore and may never watch it again! Bad enough Latoya got voted off last year while 2 people who didn't deserve to be there kept getting votes..if that..well it's already happening this year but if it continues I just won't watch. Everyone else should stop watching too.

Asta!!

cellophanedeity 04-28-2005 06:18 PM

Scott cheated! He did the whole family thing "He's just an average joe! and a great son!" then sang the dancing with daddy song. then he was told to leave!

Damn middle America and it's poor taste! (except everyone here of course)

I hope Bo wins. Or Vonzell. Everyone else isn't very good, IMHO.

Lead543 04-28-2005 06:23 PM

I hope Bo wins too. You gotta love a guy named Bo Bice, with shoulder length hair.
:)

Derwood 04-28-2005 06:23 PM

As long as Idol has people vote to keep people on instead of vote to kick people off, the best people won't win. It's just our nature. We don't vote for our favorites because we assume that they will move on because they're good and that the sucky people won't because, well, they're sucky. But if people could actively get rid of the sucky, the best would always rise to the top. Who would actively vote AGAINST Constantine?

Doctor_Max 04-28-2005 06:44 PM

Scott and Fedorov both don't deserve to be anywhere near that far. That said, I think in the next two weeks we will finally see them gone. The other three have been consistantly good.

And is anyone else starting to get annoyed with Paula nearly in tears when Const left? God, that was pathetic. Sure, he may be a great performer, but he WILL get signed. Don't cry about it.

Sensei 04-28-2005 11:04 PM

I had some money on Bo but I got out of that bet after the big Cocaine Possession story broke.

Well apparently past criminal charges haven't hurt Scott's chances, or any pop/rock stars for that matter. If the Grammys were to exclude everyone that has ever had a drug charge in their past, they'd be able to air it on a commercial break for AI.
