Nice to see ROTK on there so prominently. I guess I better get out and see Mystic River now... Has anyone here seen Osama? Never even heard about it. Is it about who I think it is?

Thanks for posting this!

Actually Osama isn't even about Bin Laden; I saw the trailer for it a while back and it's about an Arabic girl (named Osama strangely) who joins the Afghanistan (i think?) army as a boy to fight for her country, or something like that.

You can view the trailer here:
http://www.apple.com/trailers/mgm/osama/

And I am glad Charlize Theron won for Monster; I haven't seen it yet but I can tell from previews and clips I've seen she deserved that; I think she'll win the oscar.

Diane Keaton winning for Something's Gotta Give is poo; it wasn't THAT great a movie...sure it was funny, but oscar worthy!? HAH puh-lease. But then again, looking at the people who were in the same category as her, no wonder she won...

I am kinda surprised Sean Penn won for Mystic River. Mystic River is a GREAT movie, but I kinda thought Tom Cruise was gonna get it for The Last Samurai; he did a great job in that movie.

If you haven't seen The Last Samurai or Mystic River, check those out.

You were surprised by Sean Penn? Really? I was more surprised by Tim Robbins. I thought that award should have gone to Albert Finney. I can't comment on Diane Keaton winning, because the only movie I saw nominated for that category was Lost in Translation. Scarlett Johansson definitely deserved to be nominated though.

was Albert Finney nominated for Big Fish? Because I haven't seen that one yet. I think Robbins did an excellent job in Mystic River but again, I haven't seen Big Fish yet.

No complaints except that Ken Watanabe deserved to win Best Supporting Actor for The Last Samurai, heck he should've won every award including Best Animated Feature.

I watched until about 10 or so, then got bored. Honestly, the Cecil B DeMille award for Douglas was the dullest thing I've seen in a while. I'm generally pleased about the results, and even more pleased that Jackson didn't wear shorts to the ceremony. Would it kill that slob to comb his lank, stringy hair, though? Honestly, man, I know you are just coming into prominence with these movies but you've had a few years to adapt. Clean yourself up.

I watched some of it....not too many surprises for me.

And I cannot describe how happy I am that Sex and the City won't be nominated for anything next year, because I am so sick of looking at Kim Catrall's ugly-ass dresses....god bless, why must bad taste so often prevail? But among the best dressed...Queen Latifah, Jennifer Aniston (HOT!) and Cate Blanchett, who looked postively charming.

There is no way in hell she is better then Megan Mullally from Will & Grace. That pisses me off... they just gave her the award 'cause it's her last season. And I'm very happy it is.

Hehe, i giggled at him, because he looked so out of the place in that stupendously shitty tux. And i was really hoping he wouldn't be wearing shoes.

While i agree with you that i think Megan Mullally is a better actress, I can't say i agree that they gave it to her JUST because it's her last season. If that were true, it would have made sense that a show like "Friends" would have swept things up, which it obviously didn't, and was sorely ignored this year.

I actually think he would have looked better in his usual shorts and parka...

Anyways, maybe the Oscars will actually give PJ and LOTR the props it deserves instead of turning their snooty noses up at so called "lower class films".

i agree with all of those movie awards...
expect Diane Keaton (should have been Scarlett Johansson), and LaPaglia shouldn't have won anything... that guys shit... fancy calling yourself an Aussie and getting round speaking with a fake American accent... wanker... Sheen and Sutherland would have been much better choices.

everything else was good.

would've loved to have seen that wanker Nicole Kidman present to an award to that wanker Tom Cruise... but hey, come on, that wanker won't ever win anything.

can i also just say, what a phenomenal line-up there was for the 'Best Actress -- Miniseries or Made-For-TV Movie'...

Meryl Streep, Judy Davis, Helen Mirren, Maggie Smith and Jessica Lange... now thats a talented list!!

Nice to see Bill Murray get a deserving award...about time.

Can someone tell me what is "The Office"? Is it an HBO show?

I'm with King on this one: Sarah Jessica Parker for Comedy-Actress?? She only got it because the show is ending.

I was astonished when I noticed it was the "61st Annual" Golden Globes. Over sixty years, and the industry gives it the respect of a glorified paperweight next to the Emmys and Oscars.

I also hope Return of the King's star keeps on rising and this isn't just a consolation prize. IIRC, the previous two movies were also Oscar-nominated for Best Picture but have so far gone home with mostly technical awards.

I'm so glad that someone else realized what an amazing job this man did acting this film.

I loved this movie, and I think his role was easily the best acted role in this year.

Although... I'm torn between him and Viggo... but who doesn't love Viggo?

I was actually pleased with the results for the first time in a while. Hopefully the trend of awarding the movies and people that deserve to win will continue into the Oscars.

I agree, Return of the King deserves to just sweep the awards this year, in my opinion.

It's an awesome British sitcom set (funnily enough) in an office.

Ithink you can catch it on BBC America or something

You can also get the first season on DVD. I picked it up for about 30 bucks the other day. The extras are pretty much just an hour-long interview documentary with the cast and the director. The entire season is only three hours long--six half-hour episodes--so you can watch the whole thing one a quiet evening or rainy weekend.
