Ringu 2
I just watched the sequel to Ringu, it picks up RIGHT after the last movie ends, which is cool
Its scary as hell, i think im going to have nightmares. If you can pick it up do it now... watch it with the lights off and be prepared to be scared shitless |
I agree.. Ringu 2 was scary as fuck.. the prequel Ringu 0 was even worse.
The japanese know how to make a good psychological horror dont they? |
is it dubbed or subbed? i know they are making an american version coming out in the near future
|
its subbed
I really wanna see ringu 0 now that you say its even scarier gotta search for it now |
ace, buy it..seriously..
if you like the series.. just buy it http://www.pokerindustries and http://www.ilovehkfilm.com |
yeah i have Ringu and Ringu 2 on hard copy
because i watch them over and over when i said search i meant "search ebay" If i support something i buy it |
They're far superior to the American version, though it's good and shot beautifully I think the original Ringu's are fantastic. The US one seemed to be made for people who don't want to figure things out for themselves (ie, people who don't like to think).

I tihnk itd be way scarier with out sub titles i havent seen it and i dont know why it just seems like it would be.
|
The problem i noticed with Ringu 2 is that more often than not the subtitles would fall on someone in the foreground wearing light coloured clothing, or on something light coloured, so you couldnt always read what was being said.
Kinda frustrating, but if you concentrate you can do it |
I had the same problem. It didn't have quite the same effect as in Goldmember though!
|
The American Ring is the only movie that has really truly scared me, I was totally freaking the night I saw it. Guess I'll have to check out the Japanese ones if they are as good as you guys say.

they dont like it because it's not "scary enough" for them.. and the special effects are kinda plain. Still the american ring scared me and i saw it first, but the japanese ringu gave me nightmares for MONTHS. I used to have a ring on my TV and it severely creeped me out at night...
*tries not to think about it* |

As the problem with most asian vcd's. Try to get the DVD instead that usual lays the subs on top of the picture. Or if your lucky some vcd's out the subs off the video in the space between the movie and widescreen |
That's really cool, I didn't know a sequel and prequel existed. Thanks for the info.

hey i actually FOUND a copy of Ringu 0 at a DVD-eo store in Vancouver in the import section and i rented it.
It wasnt as scary as ringu 2, but it did give some very important back story for the other two. See them in the order they were made though, Ringu, Ringu 2, Ringu 0... And yes, i saw Ringu before the american version and i liked it much much more than the american version... the american version was just...... meh |
I LOVE The Ring and very much enjoyed Ringu when I rented it.
The Japanese film's pacing is MUCH slower. Which really works in its favor--it builds suspense much more steadily than the US film. There are places where the story was Americanized--the ex husband no longer has weird psychic powers, for instance. While I loved the US version, the Japanese film was clearly superior. On the other hand, Naiomi Watts. <img src="http://ringworld.somrux.com/images/watts_lace2.jpg"> Nuff said. |
Yeah, I'd hit it, several times, can't wait to see her in King Kong!
p.s. she takes it off in Mulholland Drive too! p.p.s. She's actually a fantastic actress too. |

I didn't think The Ring was that scary at all. While I was in the theater, there were certainly some suspenseful areas, but nothing like "what they said." It wasn't any scarier than the usual horror flick. People were like "the horse running off the boat!!OH MY GOD IT WAS SO SCARY!!" but I thought it was funny. Maybe it's just me, I don't know.
Signs was supposed to be scary too, but that was a joke. Excellent movie, but it was more sci-fi than horror/suspense. |
I was just about to say how I wanted to see Ringu, but I can't find it anywhere. I decided to check Netflix just now and see that they have it. Excellent :)
|
What's really scrary is the effect it's had on my working life...
See I work at a brewery, and there's a machine that takes a picture of the top and bottom of each returned bottle and on the screen we can see it looks just like the ring. It still kinda disturbs me... |
