Enterprise: any fans?
I must say that I watch any ST series if I can. STTNG still stops my remote in its tracks.
I've been sort of back and forth on Enterprise until last night episode. I thought it turned the series around a bit and I hope it is the begining of a trend. It reminded me of the last few seasons of DS9 where sweetness and light were not the order of the day. Any other Enterpise fans? Any thoughts on the "new direction" we've been promised? |

Man! I need to get a satellite dish. Don't have cable out here so far in the country, and what have I been missing? What new direction?
I am a fan of ST, but thought no new series, and never did care too much for DS9. I would LOVE for the Vendetta novel be made into a movie!! Yeah!

I've really enjoyed the series up to this point. The last season finale cliffhanger was great. Granted, at times it can be a little "goody-goody", but I think the characters are starting to realize that they can't just go galloping in to the Universe telling people how to run things.

I like it and I watch it when I can.
I think some of the characters are a little contrived, and sometimes the acting just makes you want to sweat sugar, but overall it's a pretty good show. I agree with rekinom, I'm more interested in the meat and potatoes of the past enterprise, not interested in the expanding appetizers. And I need/want some tie ins to help me understand the connections between the other series.

I apologize for resurrecting this thread, but I've found information on the series that's new to me, a devout fanboy of the series.
The following is a link to a video featuring a better opening theme (which throws out the crappy theme song and gives it a true Star Trek beginning) and also has Scott Bakula's Capitan Archer giving "Space, the final frontier" speech. Finding this really helped to give me closure about the ending of the series. Please enjoy. Last edited by Willravel; 02-25-2007 at 05:59 PM.. Reason: link died |

We're still trying to get it picked up by sci fi, but they'll need a lot of help to fund it. If you're so inclined, please write your favorite commercial company and let them know you'd but their product if they chose to endorse Star Trek Enterprise, and you have hundreds of friends who would, too. It worked for Farscape and Firefly.

well to be honest, Star Trek needs to go off the air for awhile. They've lost their direction. They started a downhill slide in DS9 (to boldly stay put where no one has stayed put before) but resurrected it in later seasons when they made it interesting with intergalactic war. Voyager was OK (though it was no TNG) but then Enterprise. . . it was like they hired a bunch of T&A writers to come in and try to write a space show. Seemed like every other episode the hot vulcan came down with some disease that could ONLY be cured if a male member of the crew (curiously never the doctor) rubbed her naked body down with oil. Don't get me wrong, star trek has a long tradition of eye candy, but this was ridiculous. They let the sex not only get in the way of the story, but screw up the story by making it implausible (um. . give her a shot. we don't need to cop a feel to cure intergalactic flu).
Then there were the issues of running into aliens that we weren't supposed to run into until TNG (ferengi being one of them). The whole show was stupidly managed from the beginning. I'm all for more trek on TV, but only if it's good. They need to take a break until Berman retires. |

God I hated DS9, It may have been better if they'd found a an actual actor to play Sisko. I consider Avery Brooks the token black captain of star trek, no talent what so ever....

I never really watched enterprise. after the slug episode, i gave up. but it did have a great start.
as for the other comments, Voyager was great apart from a few moral crap here and there. but the whole borg deal with seven was awesome and the other dimension species was FUCKING AMAZING. overall, it was a great serie. Ds9 was slow to start but i felt like it had the best storyline to work with. i mean with planets and a space station, if they needed some space travel, they could take the defiant but for everything else, it was cool to be at 1 place. plus, near the end with the dominion war, it rocked! they had some of the best space fights in ds9.

However, DS9 was really, really good after the first couple of seasons and once Worf joined in. TNG ages worst of all, IMO.
