OMFG! STAR WARS SEQUEL TRILOGY!
Bah blaba bab ulab ba bala bla...
http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=16780 Quote:
Personally I'm guessing that it's more likely that there'll be Star Wars related projects such as Short Films, Cartoons, Comics and the like but if they actually make three new films, then it's possible that Lucas will only provide the plots for them and have new Directors (like he did for the original trilogy, kinda). ANOTHER LINK to TFN: http://www.theforce.net/episode3/index.shtml#23010 Oh by the way, if you're only coming into this thread to say the Prequel Trilogy sucks, go fuck yourself. |

it could be for other projects. indiana jones? day of the tentacle? who knows. I think it's bad enough, the hate that a lot of former star wars fanboys feel toward Lucas now, just think what it'll be like if they don't like a third trilogy. I can just imagine stupid little pricks complaining that they don't have an original cast.

Isn't it still possible to use the original cast? I mean, sure the movies will have to be based 20+ years after ROTJ to keep up with the actors' aging, but it seems possible. Unlikely, but possible. I guess I'm just a fanboy with a crazy dream...

This is good news, but also not good news. I was looking forward to George Lucas working on something besides Star Wars for a while. I hope if they do go ahead with the next three movies, he doesn't get too invovled so he can do other stuff.

Outside of Harrison Ford (and the late Sir Alec Guiness), that cast was the lamest bunch of C-Actors to ever disgrace the screen. Star Wars is great because of the story, not because of Mark Hamil or Billy Dee Williams.

Oh god, the only way this would not piss me off is if Lucas would calm his ego down a bit and let somebody else write and direct it. I like all the movies that have been released, but let's face it... the majority of them have lousy dialog and poor attempts at humor. The only thing that's saving them is the coolness of the Star Wars Universe.

*drools* That'd be great, but it would be even GREATER if lucas DOESN'T use 100% computer generated animation. E2 was just a sad sad movie filled with over-worked computer generated animations...
But other than that, I can't wait for the day I shit my pants while waiting in front of the line to get tickets...

like i have said all along, i won't believe it till i have a ticket stub, in my hand. there are a thousand and one reasons why 7,8, and 9, might never see the light of day.

I can't imagine what they would address in a sequel. The Expanded Universe books pretty thoroughly cover every year from the day after the Emperor fell to 25 years later and I seriously doubt they would make a movie about the books. Maybe they will do a history of the Jedi and Sith or something...take it back a couple hundred or thousand years pre-episode one. That is something I would enjoy seeing

it would be cool... maybe the generation that's growing up now that did love Ep1-3 would be excited to have their kids see 7-9

Lucas always envisioned this, even as IV was released. Of course, back in '77, everyone wondered if he would have the stamina/backing to do it. But I had hopes. Now, after seeing there hasn't been a really good SW after No. 5 (sorry, ewoks ruined No. 6 for me), I am afraid to even go into the horrors of 7, 8, and 9.

Maybe he should get some of the writers of the 'expanded universe' to fill out some story ideas for him. (Kevin J. Anderson; Timothy Zahn et cetera) That a maybe use a lighter hand in the CGI department. Special effects are nice, but they shouldn't overshadow the story.

Amazing how Peter Jackson can put out a trilogy with awe-inspiring CG effects in just 3 years while it takes Lucas 3 years per film. Unacceptable. All 3 prequels should have been out by now. If it takes 3 years to make a film, you are doing something wrong (ie entirely too much computer stuff)

Ok, with the current age that the original actors are at, this launches them way past Thrawn, Jedi Academy, Rogue Squadron, etc. This puts them at the New Jedi Order. I personally love this series (I wonder if I am the only person who does) however, it does add some illogic to it because, why jump right into a Spoiler: Yuuzhan Vong series without some sort of alterior explanation? I don't know, because the people that will view VII VIII and IX will be the devotees who have read the books and know at contain at least a passing knowledge of what's going on. So I personally hope for a NJO movie series, but I wouldn't be opposed to some of the other stuff in there. This must be remembered though, Lucas may do something that is independent of the story line that is going on now in the books, not remaking them, but adding a complementary set to them.

I don't have any objections to the NJO series being made, (I've just read the first one, so far), but it still pisses me off what Salvatore did to Chewbacca.

fuuuuuck yeah!
I hope they go with the logical progression of the series though, and ditch the CGI... afterall, if the first 3 one had all the slick (shitty) CGI, the second 3 the fabulous 3d models... perhaps the third 3 should be done with cardboard cutouts? yes, I think that would be dandy.. |

Personally, I enjoyed Episodes 1 and 2, and am looking forward to Episode 3. Was there stuff that could have been done better? Absolutely! Were they worthy of the original trilogy? Not even close! But I was still very entertained by both movies. As far as I'm concerned, bring on Episodes 7 to 9!

I'd like better dialogue and better casting out of the sequel trilogy than we've gotten so far with the prequel trilogy. I don't know how to solve the second, as for the first: George, let someone else write your fucking scripts!!!
I read through those supposed plot summaries, and they sound exciting enough. I just can't really imagine a Luke Skywalker not played by Mark Hammill, or Han not played by Harrison Ford, etc.

I'd love Star Wars sequels, but as much of a Star Wars dork as I am, I wouldn't want any of them to be about the previous movies, or star any of the original cast. That's just a really bad idea that has way too many possibilities of being fucked up. I'd rather see a new story be told that takes place after the original trilogy with new characters and a new look to the series.
I hate to bring videogames into this section, but Knights of the Old Republic proved that the Star Wars universe can be simply amazing despite having anything to do with any of the movies. I enjoyed this game more than the prequels. It's all about execution, characters, directing, and a damn good screenplay. A trilogy of sequels could work very well, and it is pretty damn exciting to see information about it, but I just hope for my life that they don't star the original actors. Get a damn good screenwriter, a damn good director, and a line-up of damn good actors. The Star Wars universe is already there, the storytelling is the only thing that needs to be done. -Lasereth

Well, I was thinking about it, and I don't really *get* the idea of 9 movies. The first 6 are about Anakin's fall into darkness and eventual redemption. What are the last 3 supposed to be about, now that Anakin's dead? Honestly, the clone idea sounds contrived to me.

On one hand, I'm excited about the possibility of more Star Wars. On the other hand, I've been pretty disappointed with the prequel stuff. I'm really afraid that Lucas will trash what little is left of his own legacy. If he is wise, he will have OTHER people write his scripts based on his stories, and OTHER people direct the films.
