I saw it. I don't know whether to outright hate it or enjoy it. Shocker of all shockers, the line up of beautiful women were able to sell more lemonade than the mostly average looking (some downright dorky looking) men. They criticized the one guy who was trying to sell the $1000 lemonade by saying "you weren't really selling lemonade" while at the same time lauding the women on their efforts when they were only selling themselves.
The guy that got fired didn't do anything. Did you see him chasing after the bike rider like a spaz? He had a good comment at the end when he said "I guess we've proved that there's no relation between IQ and selling lemonade". It's a realization that he should take to heart and he can substitute any activity in lemonade's place. He seems to think that a high IQ is, in itself, an accomplishment. The guy (Sam I think his name is) that almost got booted is annoying. As Trump said, he may succeed or he may go down in flames. I think he'll do the latter. It'll be interesting to see what the coming weeks bring.

I saw the first half of it yesterday. Thought it was an ok show. I was suprised to see that the girl's side was having so much difficulty in getting their side of things sorted out. The guy's side had everything all figured out.
I'll try catching more of this show if I can find the time. Looks kind of interesting. |

It was a very interesting show. But am I the only one who thinks I could have sold more lemonade in their positions with less business expeirnce then they all had?
I hated Sam. He was such an ass kisser. The only thing he was good at was sticking his nose furtner up anyone's ass that would accept it. Yeah, he would have been a hero if he sold a glass of lemonade for $1000. But in the twenty minutes he spent selling that, he could have sold 20 glasses for $2 and at least made something. And really, what are the chances that someone is going to spend $1000 on fucking lemonade? I think if I was a potential employer looking to be impressed by him, I wouldn't have been. Sure, in business risk-taking is good. But, there is taking a risk that is most assuredly not going to pan out, and then there is recognizing the fact that it won't pan out, and taking that time and using it wisely by selling things that will sell.

i despised Sam with a passion, but i pretty much disliked them all, they are the epitome of the kinds of people i'm not fond of in the world...but i still became addicted to it...how sad. So i'll probably keep watching, with the fervent hope the Sam loses.

Yup I definetly wanted to slap Sam upside the head as well. I really like the show though: Mark Burnett is a genius and he's created another hit with this one.
Side note: Ivanka Trump is a student at my college. She's actually not bitchy.

In episode two I didn't think the girls deserve to win, I was even insulted by thier ads, it like playing down to men, like the only thing they thought about is how big there dick is.
Sam escaped another one, I mean falling alseep my god, surprise to see, what his face go, but he should of listen and meet with the boss, from the preview Sam is the head guy next week soon be interesting, my guess is he will pull it off and win. |

My god, how does Sam skate by?
And how stupid were the men to not meet with their client before designing a ad campaign. Idiots... they deserved to lose.

Not meeting with the client is absolutely inexcusable. Not that it helped the women at all since the photo shoot and most of the "ideas" were created isolated from the information gleaned from meeting with the client. The pictures they had taken were aestethically beautiful, but the content of the ads were terrible. I wonder how much of that beauty was from their idea and how much from the photographer they had with them.
The men were horrendous. Jason was the worst and he rightly should have been fired. Sam is funny as hell and I'd keep him around just for kicks if I were Donald (after all you want the show to be interesting to get ratings). He is in a strong position right now if he can get a win under his belt he'll be even stronger. He's faced the chopping block twice and survived. Donald can associate with Sam because he's kind of an outcast and I suspect Trump was as well. I think him being in a leadership position next week will serve him well if he doesn't have a meltdown first. Troy may have given him the center he needs with that whole "country" thing. Troy's reaching out to Sam may have been the best thing that's happened in the show so far. He stepped up to help out his team mate when there was nothing really in it for him. As far as Sam sleeping, it bugged me a little bit but Jason didn't give him anything to do. As a leader he should have given Sam more work. You can't have an ADD personality like Sam bored. If he hadn't fallen asleep he probably would have created havoc with those on other projects.

I don't think she's particularly good looking. Maybe if she loosened up a little and got rid of the prissy/pissy look she always seems to have on I'd think differently.

yeah this is definately one of my new favorite shows. I was actually surprised at that.
I hate Sam with a passion, but I get the feeling that he's going to be the team leader in this week's episode and that we're being led to believe that the men lose, but I bet they win, thus making Sam look like he really deserves a part in the show since he'd be the first team leader to have a winning project...which will suck. He's annoying as hell. |

I can't believe the men lost again tonight (1/21)...they are just getting their asses handed to them. Did you see Sam's murderous gaze when he was fired? I thought he was going to explode! Bout time he left though, hopefully the guys will pull out their first victory next week without his distractions.
I hate reality TV, seriously, but I love this show. |

I'm with gunawan04...
That look Sam had was just too good. I was waiting for him to jump up on the desk and kick the crap out of Trump. This would, of course, lead to a team of bodyguard's bum-rushing him with firearms and nightsticks. ^_^ I'll be pullin' for the guys now that the Einstein-wannabe is gone. |

Sam's been shafted!
I seriously thought he was going to embarrass himself when he was fired. The utter look of shock in his eyes! Priceless. He composed himself, though, and walked out with some dignity. Imo, either one of those two farktards with him should have gone before Sam did. Sam livened things up, at least.

Unfortunately I only got to see some parts of it as we were torn between the two with American Idol just slightly winning out. (Yeah yeah I could have taped it but that's too much effort).
I saw that the guys failed miserably at getting the golf club and they only bargained the leg wax down by $4. I'm surprised no one has used the "I'll get your business on tv if you give me a good deal" angle yet. Any other highlights you'd like to share about the show last night? What was the final tally between the girls/guys, how much did they start out with, etc?

The look in Sam eyes was great, like the couple of others I too thought he was going jump on the table and try to kill Trump. With the leg wax, isn't there do it yourself kits, the women are just killing them, but now with the distraction out of the way, perhaps the men can bounce back.

I was disappointed there wasn't some penalty for not bringing everything they were supposed to back. I also thought the teams should have done a lot more phoning around looking for better deals (unless they did and we just weren't shown that) and maybe even assigned just one person to each item.
I say right now that I'm glad Sam was fired, but if the next few weeks are boring I'll change my mind. |

Well the women are only winning because they are using sex to sell which is an unfair and questionably unethical practice. Not to say that I wouldn't do it any differently in their shoes, but they do have an edge up being that they deal mostly with men.

You know, I'm not saying I don't respect Trump or what he's done for himself, clearly he's a great businessman, but I would love to see him try to sell lemonade on the street. I mean sure people may buy from him just because they'd be buying lemonade from Donald Trump, but if he could somehow don a disguise or something and just be an unknown. I'd like to see how he, the expert, would have done it without using his name.

But yeah I didn't get to watch as much of last week's episode as I wanted b/c of American Idol being on at the same time, but I caught it just in time to hear the words I wanted to hear, "you're fired" come out of The Donald's mouth when firing Sam. The guys better kick it up a damn notch this week and win one b/c the ladies are wreckin' shop! |

These are the "best and brightest" business people they could find? I wish I had to compete against them on a daily basis. Not an original idea in the bunch.
Let's talk liability risk vs profit for both teams last night. Women were putting the restaurant at huge risk by pushing drinks so heavily AND by drinking while working. Men were being deceptive in their portrayal of Kwame and could easily have tarnished the reputation of Planet Hollywood (not that it's got a reputation anymore, unless you're going for a bankruptcy filings record or something).

Watching both sets of people running the restaurant made me realize this show is a joke. How these people were considered some of the best in business, I am still baffled. Last edited by Plan9Senior; 01-30-2004 at 11:10 AM.. |

I'm really sick of the women using sex to sell. Granted, it seems to be working, but I thought that Trump's woman exec made a good point when she told the women that yes, they were doing a good job selling stuff through sex appeal, but you can't run a company that way. Not a good company, anyway.
I wonder if this "corporate shuffle" that will take place next week was in the original show plans or if they called an audible when the competition got so lopsided? |
