Yep, I like Nny. I feel unqualified to describe it in depth, having only read it and Squee for the first time about two months ago. But...
JTHM is a seven-issue comic by Jhonen Vasquez, the guy responsible for the Invader Zim cartoon. Well, mostly responsible... just like Ren & Stimpy before it, Nickelodeon screwed around a lot with the finished product. But that's neither here nor there. Johnny is a serial killer, and he wastes anyone who slightly pisses him off, whether it's somene who laughed at his hair, or the guy who turned off the slurpee machine at the convenience store. He also hallucinates extended conversations with a pair of styrofoam doughboys, and a dead rabbit nailed to the wall (and later, just its floating severed head). A comic about a murderer doesn't really seem like the best source of comedy, but the book really is funny, and toward the later part of the series, it shifts away somewhat from the bloodspray. You can get it and Squee (which collects many of the incidental JTHM stories) in GN form, and I recommend it.

Actually, the qoute is
"Well FUCK YOU, Mr.Bear! You speak Lies!" Just being obbsesivly nitpicky. Has anyone seen Vasquez's new mini Comic, "Everything Can be Beaten"? Jhonen did the Charector designs and wrote it, but someone else drew and colored it. It's very nice, and only 1.50.

I loved Invader Zim. The episode scene where (Ger pretends to be "Mr. Government Man" and tries to save Zim and their spaceship) Zim is flying away on PIG and sees the reflection of the crazed alien-lover junkie in the water, screams, turns around and slaps her. She flies away in a slow motion matrix style (not really but there is little to what I comapre it to) then (scene) is sped up and she lands in an explosive fall into the lake. I repeat that in my mind and laugh everyday (well, anytime I happen to see that episode). Scary, aint it?
Nickolodeon was sooooo unworthy to air that show.

Don't get me wrong, I love it too. My favorite's the one where Zim steals everyone's organs, and stuffs them inside himself until he's just this big bloated sack of guts, with intestines hanging out of his mouth. Very dark, and I was impressed they were able to get away with it on Nick. It could have been something straight from the pages of Squee.

That's not what Jhonen says. In his own words:
"I could write about a transvestite circus midget, and that midget would be every bit me, because he comes from MY mind, like all of my characters. What defines me as myself is the set of thoughts I choose to ACT uon, not just what I think... That guy in the book is JOHNNY! Not me. Vasquez doesn't give interviews often, but there's a pretty good one at Suicide Girls. It's pretty long, so I'll just post a link, but everyone should check it out. http://suicidegirls.com/words/Jhonen+Vasquez/

No worries. That's one of the problems with this form of communication- it's sometimes hard to interpret entirely what someone's saying just from text. That's why I love smileys!
Speaking of that subject (Jhonen's actual life), I think one of the funniest things in any of the books were the bits where he portrays a day in his own life. Y'know, the one where he battles Satan in the convenience store, and lives in a castle laboratory on a hill.

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac – any fans on out there?
I absolutely love this comic book. Now I am not a comic book sort of guy. In fact one could say I hate the damn things, but this one is so different. This is black humor at its best. It’s all about Johnny (or Nny) who lives the ordinary life or a total psycho: killing door to door salesmen, torturing priests, massacring whole clubs and cafés full of stereotypical college posers, painting walls with blood, talking to styrofoam pillsbury dough boys gone mad, floating rabit heads, you know, the usual stuff. Yet this isn’t just grotesque shock humor. The comic is intelligent, witty and does a great job at criticizing society. Its a work of genius.
