Koyaanisqatsi and the "qatsi" trilogy - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

Has anyone ever seen any of these? They are by Francis Ford Coppola and music by Phillip Glass. It is hard for me to explain but i was just wondering if anyone has seen them and maybe could recomend some movies that are similar in nature.

I saw Koyaanisqatsi years ago and enjoyed it, it was quite hypnotic, but I've never really seen anything quite like it aside from some expirimental films when i was at art school...

The second movie in the trilogy is Powaqqatsi and im not sure the name of the third one but I dont believe it is out yet just incase you where intersted in seeing any of the others. Yah it is definitly hypnotic.

The films were actually directed by Godfrey Reggio; Francis Ford Coppola's only involvement was an executive producer, and only for the first two movies at that. The third, Naqoyqatsi, was released in the United States on September 2, 2002 and has been available on DVD as of October 14 this year.

If you can locate a copy of Anima Mundi, it's worth the effort, even if only as a peek at another of the director's collaborations with Phillip Glass.

i saw the third one. i'd never seen anything like it and i liked it a lot. kind of reminded me of a more dark, serious, fantasia. and i loved that yo-yo ma played in it. and the connections between everything..

good stuff.

Yah I am eventually going to get around to ordering the third one sometime but I am not sure when. My sisters x-boyfriend is going to Temple University in Phili and studying under the same person that yo-yo ma studied under or something like that im not to sure.

I've seen the movie. It's amazing. Although its been barrowed from, no movies come to mind that are similar to the series.

I have seen Koyaanisqatsi, and have the soundtrack. I love it. What I think is starnage about it, is trying to explain it to someone else.
"Yeah, its shows lots of sped up film of people going to work, and traffic flying by etc."
"I know what you mean. Sounds cool. Where can I see this short?"
"Short?"
"how long is it?"
"It's a feature length film...an hour and a half"
"!"

Or at least they were my thougths on first hearing of this film. I imagined it would be entertaining for the first five minutes, but I decided to check it out, mainly due to the fact that I love the music of Philip Glass so much! I was blown away! An amazing film!

I have not seen the other two, I haven't been able to get a hold of them on rental. I will probably buy them sometime.
