Help me choose a 32" TV and where to buy !
Guys I am looking for a 32" TV. Bestbuy and Circuitcity both sell cheap Apex/Sylvania 32" for about $250- $280, however I am wary of these brands. All the Magnivox/Sharp/ JVC sets are about $330. I have checked out the cheap sets and the name brands in person and there isn't much difference (even the sales person said you're just paying for the name).
So my questions are: 1. Are the name brands worth the extra price? 2. Are there any good places to find reviews of 32" TV'S? 3. Are there any online stores that sell TV's like this cheaper than Bestby and Circuit City? (keep in mind shipping charges). Thanks for any info ! |
I love my SONY XBR WEGA flat screen tubes.. :) Here at the office we don't buy anything BUT SONY unless it also has a TRINITRON tube, which reads as being a SONY products.
IMHO opinion you should be able to find a SONY WEGA flat 32" almost twice what you are mentioning, but I can tell you for fact, that most TVs are made to be disposable when they are in the lower range of the market. good luck! |
Get a JVC. Best damned TV's period! My dad has a 40-something inch JVC and it's awesome. I have a 27" JVC. Ha ha, my friend has one, and so does his girlfriend. These TVs are simply awesome. I'd go for the JVC ASAP.

On the note of Sony products, one of our employees worked for Sony about 6 years ago as a service tech. He worked in a 250,000 sq. ft. warehouse full of defective product. He was once told from the CEO of Sony USA... and I quote: "We don't want to be the best, we just want to be the most." That wouldn't fill me with confidence in their product. I also feel/know that they are overpriced. |
The Sony's are WAY out of my price range. I'll consider the JVC's more now. Thanks guys !

Circuit City's website gives customer's reviews and ratings under each of its products. I've found this to be helpful in the past.

Yes, I have read those, but I heard that some unscrupulous companies pay people to write positive reviews. This isn't a big problem if there's lots of reviews for an item, but most of them only have around 10.

Oh man.... so yesterday I went out and bought a 32" Sharp tv at Bestbuy for $299. It came with a free decent tv stand as well. So I get home, assemble the stand, and heave the tv on top of it. I turn it on and notice a static-y line on the left side. I assume this is because I didn't screw the cable tv tight enough on the back. Try as I might the line keeps fading in and out. Also, there's areas of blurriness that show up periodically while watching cable, which get even worse during DVD's.
I am returning this piece of sh*t and getting a flat tube JVC or Toshiba. ARRRRRRRRRRRGH |
Age old saying "you get what you pay for".
That's all i got to say.. |
