That's really funny considering the Fight Club and Terminator 2 DVDs are considered the best DVDs ever released. I'd pick those up first. It doesn't matter how much they cost -- it's worth it.

You might want to check out Reservoir Dogs, Seven, Indiana Jones, True Romance, The Usual Suspects, 12 Monkeys, From Dusk to Dawn, American Psycho... I don't know. It's hard to recommend movies for people you don't know. Check some descriptions out for those movies. See if anything sounds good.

archer2371 12-15-2003 08:25 PM

Boondock Saints is a definite must buy. Indy is a great DVD collection, and lest you forget, the Lord of the Rings DVDs, they're just freakin awesome. Also, Pirates of the Caribbean is pretty sweet.

Lasereth 12-15-2003 10:26 PM

I would advise buying the Boondock Saints DVD (one of my favorite movies) but over 10% of the movie is cut out due to censhorship. Yes, the movie is rated R, and yes, it's on DVD, and yes, it's censored. Don't ask me why, but it is. I've seen the full version, and once you've seen it, you can't go back. I heard a rumor about an uncut version of the Boondock Saints DVD coming out, but I don't know if there's any merit in it. Great movie, I simply wish an uncut DVD would come out. Some say the movie has no point and that it's simply another action movie. Not many action movies turn gunfights and forensic re-creations into art.

Lase, I have a dled version of Boondock Saint on a cd. Can you tell me about a couple of the censored bits so I can tell if I have a censored version or the whole thing? How long should the uncensored version be?

Cynthetiq 12-16-2003 07:20 AM

hard boiled.... john woo and chow yuen fat

best ever

MexicanOnABike 12-16-2003 04:01 PM

thanks... i'll look into those dvds... i own a tape of the boondock saints... very freaking good movie... "so the're all gone? then i'll have a coke.. " AHAHAH!@

PeaceFrog 12-16-2003 05:17 PM

Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas - The Criteron Collection
Amazing dvd, and such a damn good movie. And if you're into Pulp Fiction, i'd recommend The Resevoir Dogs, also a good dvd.

Chingal0 12-17-2003 12:29 AM

Orgazmo

MexicanOnABike 12-17-2003 05:44 PM

"Orgazmo" ahaha! i wonder if they made a sequel? it ended with the possibility.

Ryan 12-17-2003 06:26 PM

I would check out the Big Lewbowski, Usual Suspects, Rounders, Training Day, and Boondock Saints.

Thread hijack below....

Sion, a quick way to check to see if you have the censored or uncensored version is to seek forward to the scene where they drop through the air ducts into the russian mobster guys hotel room. When they start firing if they is a LOT and I mean a lot of blood then you have the uncensored, if they mobsters just fall to the ground then you have teh censored. Another way to check is to go to th escene in which Roco goes into the diner and shoots the two guys in the booth. If they show a blood splatter on the wall after he shoots the guy through his coat, you have the uncensored and if there is not a gigantic blood splatter you have teh censored.

I am sure there are many other ways to tell, these are just two of the easiest ways. Hope i could help.

MexicanOnABike 12-17-2003 06:53 PM

damn,,, i have the censored... this sucks... why would they do that? why ruin a movie like that? i mean its still good but now that i know about the full movie, i wont go buy the crappy censored version.

Ryan 12-18-2003 06:07 PM

The only difference is the "gore" content aside form that they movies are identical in length and plot, only difference is ammount of blood and the depiction of violence.

31Friction 12-18-2003 10:12 PM

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Pi, Pitch Black, Snatch, Oceans 11 (the new one or the old one both are good), Very Bad Things, Omega Code (ya cheesy but still good), The General, Requiem For A Dream, and last but not least Citzine Kane, which is posible the greatest movie ever made.

That plus the others listed should be a good start.

brandon11983 12-21-2003 05:37 PM

I'd recommend Memento, Dark City, A Clockwork Orange, The Santa Clause, Home Alone, Home Alone 2, Ice Age, T3, and Star Trek: First Contact.

Just watched K-Pax. Great movie with Kevin Spacey! I would definently recommend it, and since it wasn't a big blockbuster, I'm sure you can get it fairly cheap.

ironchefkorea 01-11-2004 04:31 PM

the Requiem for a Dream and Pi DVDs are being packaged together for 17 bucks at Best Buy, director's cut/non-edited versions. One of the better DVD deals I've seen in a while. If you're into film, you need to get these two.

MexicanOnABike 02-08-2004 07:35 PM

All the episodes of Freaks and Geeks are being released in a boxed set April 6. There's a special edition, too, for hardcore fans.

MexicanOnABike 02-08-2004 08:11 PM
