Star Wars vs. Star Trek

Ok fellow dorks here's a good question. Which of these two Sci-fi monsters knocks the other out cold? Will it be Han Solo pimp slapping Kirk out of the torpedo bay or spock dropping Darth Vader with a well placed neck pinch?

Star Wars is a much better Fantasy than Star Trek but Star Trek is a much better Sci-Fi. Personally I'd choose Star Wars over Trek any day of thr week. Wizard magazine ran an article a few years back having a Star Wars vs. Trek battle complete with litle drawings, was great! I'll try and find it and scan it in.

I'll tell ya right now. I'm a Treekie from waaayyyyy back, but over the past few years, Rick Berman and Brannon Braga have destroyed what Gene Roddenberry took so long to create.

The quality of what they have put out over the past few years sucks. That's why I vote for Star Wars.

I couldn't agree more! The stories seem hollow and the characters are two demensional. Gene was the foundation that star trek was built on and without him its falling apart.

Star Trek is more realistic. And for that fact Star Wars is better.

boys boys, they do two different things! Star Wars is a fantasy based on hero myths and eastern philosophy. Star trek _does_ philosophy. It takes questions about our world and answers them within the context of a much more evolved version of our world. Where star Wars tells a story, good Star Trek involves us in a story. I will say that theres much more for a girlie girl like me in Star trek for these reasons. If the standard hero myth could touch my uber femanine heart teh way it can the hearts of you nasty boys I might feel differently.

Star Wars is essentially a fun romp around the galaxy, whereas Star Trek are always on some kind of super important mission to do whatever.

I personally prefer the more laid back one of the two

Star Trek deals with more facets of human nature and has longevity on its side. Also, I was utterly disappointed by the last 2 Star Wars movies. Sure SW can be entertaining, but it's all flash.

Therefore, my vote goes to Star Trek.

I used to be a huge star wars fan. The fantasy element is better for escapism. But the new movies have been crap. Ah well, maybe I'd enjoy it more if I was like 10 years old...

star wars is by far the better story, there are more stories within stories than trek. trek is more of a mission based theme, where as star wars is more of an epic story that includes the most important part of the galaxy's history

Star Trek and Star Wars were both great in their prime (hard to pick between the two). I based my vote on terms of prequel or 'spin off' quality. Star Trek's recent stuff has been more depressing to watch than Episode I and II, so I voted Star Wars.

This was very difficult! My decision had to be based on market share from Jim...I buy more ST releated merchandise than SW. Mostly in terms of games for the PC, but still, I must enjoy one universe more than the other when I choose to escape. I think the ordung in the ST universe is more my speed.

Star Wars, it's to epic not to get attached to the story line... I think the problem with both of them is that the modern day versions suck ass... I liked old school trek and loved the first three SW movies... but nothing has matched those old shows/movies.

As far as the movies, I dunno. I do know, however, that Star Wars fans could definately fuck up Star Trek fans.
