Hugh Jackman as next Bond?

Anyone hear this rumor?

I just heard it on MTV. I'm a little annoyed.

RemyLebeau97 12-02-2003 12:09 AM

I've never heard this rumor but all I can say is I hope he doesn't take the part of Bond, if he does we might see his career slowly twisting counter clockwise down the toilet.

Laladien 12-02-2003 12:18 AM

As much as I like him...

No

Just .... no

Distraction 12-02-2003 12:18 AM

I seriously hope he doesn't do a Bond movie.

He's a great actor, can't wait to see him in Van Helsing, but I just can't see him as Bond.

Moskie 12-02-2003 01:48 AM

Well... I want him to keep starring in shitty movies like Kate and Leopold. That way, he'll have incentive to stay playing Wolverine, instead of "moving on". ;)

And yea, I'd have trouble picturing him as Bond as well.

streak_56 12-02-2003 12:43 PM

i think Bond is doing fine with Brosnon. I think that Brosnon has a few more years left. Maybe One or two more movies then they will have to find a new person. look for some up newbie actors to fill in the role.

Lasereth 12-02-2003 01:24 PM

If Hugh Jackman shaved, I can see him as Bond pretty easily. He's a good enough actor to do it as well. Well, he fits the bill better than anyone else I can think of right now (besides Pierce Brosnan who was perfect).

Mr.Deflok 12-02-2003 01:24 PM

Just a rumour, won't happen, personally I think Christian Bale would be great, Clive Owen would rock too.

World's King 12-02-2003 01:37 PM

Clive Owen would be the best Bond ever. He has that evil look in his eye that's been missing. Christian Bale is the next Bruce Wayne/Batman in the next movie.

That's the way it should be, right there exactly.
Bale for Batman, Owen for Bond.

Kostya 12-02-2003 03:02 PM

Bond is British...

Jackman is Australian...

No Deal..

John Falcon 12-02-2003 03:35 PM

I heard the rumor of Ewan McGregor, too.

Not sure I like either choice.

thencrow 12-02-2003 04:00 PM

Ewan McGregor would plain suck as bond. He dosent have the attitude to act like bond.

Evil Milkman 12-02-2003 04:50 PM

Owen for Bond! He'd fit right in, in my opinion. Althought Brosnan is doing fine, Owen would surely kick ass.

MadShinji 12-02-2003 04:56 PM

I must say that i've really like the idea of Jeremy Northam as Bond, he has that same feel that i get from a mix of Connery and Moore.

Sparhawk 12-02-2003 06:19 PM

What's up with all the 007 threads lately...

I think Jackman cleaned up and a polished brit accent would work.

I still think Bale would be great but the producers wouldn't allow him to be attached to two immense franchises, either way Bale as Batman will rock and Owen as Bond would rock.

Jeff 12-02-2003 07:41 PM

Jackmans a little sissy, I don't like the guy. I've seen a few interviews with him (Daily Show, etc.) and he's just not the guy he portrays in movies. Not manly enough to be bond.

quest1mark 12-02-2003 08:56 PM

besides jackman...i dont know who any of you are talking about. post some pics.

guthmund 12-02-2003 09:43 PM

I thought they already decided that Brosnan would do one more movie and then Owen would be the next Bond?

I guess I'm just mis-remembering.....

If Clive hasn't sewn up the Bond part, he should. He would be fantastic.

How about Adrian Paul?

Maybe not the best choice acting wise but he has the look and more importantly, he can bring a much needed physical action presence to the series.

Guns and gadgets are great but I always have to shake my head when it comes to a physical fight with Brosnan.

I hate to say this, but i heard somewhere that Clive Owen refused to be considered for the next Bond, cos it's just playing a role, not real pure acting. I'll go see if i can find the article.

Bond is Scottish. Next time you wanna claim that he's british, watch the original movies before you say something that's just totally wrong. Bond's scottish because of the original actor's hertiage.

Jackman may be a good actor, but he's one of those hairy kinds that likes to do Die Hard kind of movies. Bond needs clean shaven actors to play him. Hugh ain clean dude...Yeah, every australian ain't right for Bond. George Lazenby is austrialian and he just fukin sucks at his role for Bond.

There's so many rumours running around about the next Bond actor including IGN reporting that Geard Bulter is the next Bond. Clive Owen was mentioned, so was Jude Law, Hugh Grant (God no, I'd kill myself if I ever saw that man again...) Russell Crowe, etc etc...

sailor 12-03-2003 08:17 AM

I just dont think Jackman has the refinement that Brosnan does. Brosnan just oozes cool, suave, and witty refinement, and I just dont think Jackman has that.

agentsmith 12-03-2003 08:28 AM

Hugh Jackman's one of my favorite actors. Although I think Brosnan's a better Bond, I would say Hugh's the best choice out of the other candidates.

Very True I have every Bond movie. George lazenby really sucked as bond thats why he only did one. thats not the real reason but it makes good sense.
Clive Owen for Bond

superwanis 12-03-2003 11:45 AM

Whos the New Bond

Who do you think will make the better bond. All the guys listed are rumored to be bond.

HeAtHeN 12-03-2003 12:15 PM

ANYONE but Russell Crowe... he's a fooking crap actor.

teflonian 12-03-2003 12:44 PM

I put in a vote for Ewan McGregor. I think he would make quite an interesting choice and would bring charm (along with the accent) similar to Sean Connery's.

supersix2 12-03-2003 12:55 PM

Ewan McGreggor would rule as James Bond. His style reminds me of Connery.

Conclamo Ludus 12-03-2003 01:00 PM

I think a lot of these choices are good. I picked Clive Owen. He's not as big name as the rest of these guys and his work on the BMW film series showed his skills pretty well. His schedule would more likely be open for a few years to churn out some 007 goodness. Macgregor is a close second for me. He's got the class to do it.

I like Hugh Grant, but he's way too goofy to pull it off. Viggo, Jackman, and Crowe seem a little too rugged looking to do it. Jude Law seems too softspoken, and I thought Christian Bale was American, if not he could be a good choice too.

archer2371 12-03-2003 01:03 PM

Yeah, McGregor just seems to have the more debonair attitude that a Bond actor requires.

gnort 12-03-2003 01:37 PM

Another vote for Clive Owen. The whole series of BMW films were really good. I think he fits the part

streak_56 12-03-2003 01:38 PM

New Bond Girl

I've heard a few rumors about whos going to be the new Bond girl. If anyone has heard of anything post it here.

I've heard names from Cathrine Zeta-Jones to another Madonna cameo. I liked Hally Berry but there are some rumors going around that she'll be in the next Bond again. Personally I like her but once is enough. I've aslo heard that Michelle Pfifer might play but who knows. I'd just like to know if anyone has heard anything.

Stare At The Sun 12-03-2003 02:09 PM

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Evil Milkman 12-03-2003 03:18 PM

Cathrine Zeta-Jones or Pfifer would work, but please oh please no Madonna.

Evil Milkman 12-03-2003 03:23 PM

I'm shocked and awed at all the Bond threads! :)

The last movie with Brosnan and Barry wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but I don't think that it's either of their faults. Maybe it's that the Bond franchise is fizzling out, or that they simply need better writers. But, I got off the subject. I think that Brosnan should do fine for the next one or two 007 films, but if he needs a replacement, I would choose Clive Owen.

Distraction 12-03-2003 03:51 PM

Yeah, that crappy song Madonna did for the last one was bad enough.

mattevil 12-03-2003 04:15 PM

whatever happned to getting beautiful unknowns? That used to be the bond draw for me.that and a stunt filled opening.

feelgood 12-03-2003 05:06 PM

I'd go with Ewan McGregor, he's got the looks (I do realize the irony that I'm a guy) and the attitude that a Bond actor needs. I like Brosnon but after reading some articles about him it seems that he's butting out of the role for Bond

hahaha 12-03-2003 05:44 PM

I would love to see Cathrine Zeta-Jones as a Bond girl.

If Brosnan can do it at 50, then Paul ought to be able to handle it at 44.

Easytiger 12-03-2003 06:21 PM

It's rumoured that Halle Berry will get her own Bond spinoff movie as Jinx, her character from Die Another Day. Personally, I'd rather see Michelle Yeoh reprise her role from Tomorrow Never Dies, but I guess you can't have it all.

KWSN 12-03-2003 10:24 PM

McGregor...... eh...... i wouldn't be able to see around his Mark Renton character.

The Geek 12-03-2003 11:55 PM

LeVar Burton.

Hrothgar 12-04-2003 01:00 AM

Clive Owen. I think Pierce is too feminine a Bond.

Mr.Deflok 12-04-2003 04:20 AM

The Indian Actress/Supermodel Aishwarya Rai (sp) was mentioned as was Sophie Ellis Bextor. I'd love for Sophie to be a Bond girl, I so would love to see a fuck scene with her in it.

Chingal0 12-04-2003 11:46 AM

If Halle Berry gets her own 'Bond spinoff' I hope she gets in a hit-in-run accident.. I mean, who wouldnt love the hattrick!?

a_divine_martyr 12-04-2003 12:28 PM

I'm hoping for a beautiful unknown.

But I wouldn't object to Catherine, no sir!

BigBlueWrecking 12-04-2003 12:58 PM

anyone but Denise Richards. I mean, she is hot and all...but she will never be confused with a nuclear scientist.

Is Hugh Jackman the new bond? I thought I saw that somewhere.

Halx 12-04-2003 01:46 PM

hey hey hey.. Die Another Day's theme song was a great dance song. Don't knock it.

I think the next Bond Girl needs to be young. Pfeifer and Zeta-Jones are too old.

Wouldn't it be ironic though, Catherine would get to screw two 007's

Kyp 12-04-2003 02:03 PM

Halle Berry's spin-off movie was canceled (THANK GOD! I hated the character as much as I hate Halle Berry).

I was about ready to walk out of the theatre and come back when Madonna's theme song was finally over. I didn't like Die Another Day much, anyways, though.

Nope, he is definitely British, and a good actor. I just don't think he has the look. Owen or McGregor all the way. Brosnan has been the dryest of all the Bonds, and has removed all the charm from the character. The series has kinda degenerated into your standard blockbuster action flicks, instead of the adventurous spy films of old.

sailor 12-04-2003 02:37 PM

Hopefully not Jackman. He doesnt have the wit, charm, or sophistication that Bond needs.

Exactly. It's just wrong for a Bond girl to be an A-list actress. I don't know why, but it just is.

And, like Halx said, that Madonna song wasn't a bad SONG. It was just a bad theme song for a Bond movie - for the same reason that Die Another Day wasn't a great Bond movie overall. It was simply too "techno." Special Effects are fine in Bond movies and all, but I'd be more than happy if they just stuck to well-executed stunts. It's simply more elegant.

They're thinking Halle Berry(again), Britney Spears, Elisha Cuthbert, Jessica Simpson, or Jennifer Lopez for the new Bond girl.

I have to have sex with all of them to see who's the best fit for the part.

I know. I know. It's hard work. But I keep plugging away in the name of all the bond fans out there.

i think Bale would be great. Clive Owen would be another great choice...
but, although Brosnans disgracefully over-inflated ego gets up my goat, i think he should stick around for at least one more film.
now, i dig Crowe, Mortenson and Jackman, but i donīt think they could pull off Bond.
Jude Law and Ewen Macgregor would positively suck in the role.
and Grant, well, i love you Hugh, but James Bond, you are not.
so, imo, from the given list... i think Brosnan should stay, to be replaced eventually by Christian Bale.

as for Bond girls, well, i guess we just have to sit and pray they donīt commit another Denise Richards style sin.

bundy 02-13-2004 04:44 AM

well, as much as i despise Pierce Brosnan, i have to admit i did like him as Bond. he has/had a perfect mix of suave and action.

if i remember correctly, there was a thread about this not so long ago...
i think that it listed a few possibles...

Christian Bale
Clive Owen
Jude Law
Russell Crowe
Hugh Jackman

to my mind, Bale and Owen are the only plausible options of that list.
Law comes off as a pansy, while Crowe and Jackman are too rough and meaty.

but, since Bale has become the new Batman, perhaps studios will see him as already too 'superhero-ish'... maybe...

i think Owen would be a good replacement. BUT (and this is really nit-picking here), he was killed by Matt Damon in The Bourne Identity. and we can't have the next super-suave, super-Brit having been killed by an American super-spy now can we??

i'd love to hear of any other rumoured replacements.
