I only watched the 2nd season, after my sweet Elizibeth left there just wasn't much point anymore.

I hate that there always seems to be a great team, and a stupid team. The stupid team makes me so mad. In this case, they don't act as a team, they whine too much, and they vote off the wrong people! I can't believe they voted off Ryan, who wanted to stay and play and be a team, and they kept the whiny crybaby who was the biggest, strongest person in the game! Oh well, they'll probably have to split the teams again, like they did in Africa.

Sometimes I wish they wouldn't split the teams. I'd love to see what would happen if one team completely dominated and never went to Tribal Council till every member of the other tribe was gone.

After being together for so long, working together as a team, how would they act when they had to take out one of their own?

I'm sure the producers weren't happy about the either. Not good when one of the better looking cast members gets voted off. Especially after the whole 'no bra' thing.

(side note) personally, I wonder what would happen if, say, the next "Survivor" was held in New York City - the contestants are each given a nine millimeter with a single full clip, a switchblade knife, $5 Canadian cash, and have to fend for themselves in the ghetto. (/side note)

I believe that the first two seasons (and possibly number 3) are already out on DVD and video. But don't hold me to it. I've only really watched season #2, when I had a personal stake in how things went.....knowing one of the contestants made the show interesting to me, and I just haven't found that same level of involvement in any subsequent episodes.

As for the "All-Star" season, I'm not too sure how things are going to turn out for that one. I'm betting that they get the most high-profile past contestants (who didn't win - with maybe an exception for Richard Hatch) and let them duke it out for another shot at the million. If they do it right, then it'll be worth watching; but I'm not going to predict anything at this point in time.

....and as for filming, they would probably be leaving at the end of October or early November for the location and filming, to be completed by the beginning part of December.

Oh, and one last thing: if you think there's drama on the t.v. screen, you really ought to hear what goes on among the contestants while the episodes are airing! Some of those conversations are a riot!!!

Does anybody remeber ROB from the tropical one?? He was awesome. He was so stupid and funny and quick to anger. Shiann was such a bitch in that series. I actually did a jig when she got booted.

Okay, just kidding on the begging and evil laughter thing. You want to know? I'll tell....

My brother-in-law was a contestant (Mike - fell in a fire on Season #2) and I just happened to be a guest at his house for a few months when I moved back to Michigan; this coincided with the airing of Season #2, so I got to hear quite a bit from the other contestants - and meet a few of them in the process.

No, I did not know who the final 2 contestants were. As a whole, the contestants did not discuss things like that at all. What they did discuss were the little behind-the-scenes things that didn't make it into each episode. But perhaps my all-time favorite would be the reaction to Jerri's Today Show interview the day after the episode aired where she was voted off.....

Mike and I were out running around town, so his parents agreed to tape the early-morning interviews for him. Having finished our little missions for the day, we stopped by their place and popped the videotape into the VCR. Soon enough, the interview comes on and there's Jerri trying her best to look sweet and non-bitchy for the cameras, smiling widely and telling the interviewer how she really wasn't as vicious and heartless as she appeared on the show - that there's 72 hours of taping from several cameras that has to be edited down for each 1-hour episode.....

She went on to mention that there were many "tender moments" among the contestants which never were aired. Now in a supreme twist of cosmic irony (okay, coincidence), it was just at that moment that one of Mike's 2 cell phones rings. It's Tina (the eventual winner) calling to ask Mike if he watched the Today Show interview; when he told her that we were watching it right then and there, she asked if we'd seen the "tender moments" part. He answered that it had just happened and Tina came back with a comment that she would have loved to have seen some of those from her! That all she ever saw was attitude and bitchiness.

As this is happening, Mikes other cell phone rings. Now you have to know this about Mike - being on one phone will never stop him from answering and talking on the other one....even if he's driving his car! So he answers the other phone and guess who it is???? Colby! Colby goes through the same list of questions that Tina just posed, and comes back with the same response Tina did - that he too would have loved to have seen something other than Jerri's attitude. It was just too priceless!

And then there's the one about Colby never getting recognized. I heard this one from Mike, so I can only tell it as a third-hand recollection.... According to Mike, Colby and Nick (also from Survivor 2) went to a nightclub for a night on the town. At one point, several girls came over to Colby and one of them cleared her throat to ask him a question.... Colby, thinking that his notoriety would finally work for him, was all ears - but the girl wanted to ask him if the guy with him was Nick from Survivor.

Colby was devastated. I would be too. Imagine: you make it to the very end, and nobody knows who you are!

Mike was the best guy on Survivor 2, I was really dismayed when he got hurt. Glad he was fine afterwards though - looked freaking painful! You should get him on here to act as our Survivor insider and commentator :)

I onyl really watched Survivor 2, havent gotten into the rest before or after, although I have been watching this one.

hmmm like temptation island and some other reality shows i used to watch, i think i might write this one off. The barter stuff was ok at the start but then it just seemed like the same shit different day. Jeff Probst is a pretty good host though.

Man, I LOVE Survivor. Of the seven seasons, I've only missed one episode-- when my TV recorded the wrong channel :( . Morgan needs to stop getting owned. And while we're at it, let's hope Michelle + Darrah make it to the Boobie board someday!!

Am I the only person who thinks that Morgan should have voted off Osten at the last Tribal Council? He has a piss-poor attitude and the only contribution he has for the tribe is his strength. We all saw how well that worked out for him last week. I sincerely doubt that there will be another challenge that will be based so exclusively on physical strength, so Osten has very little value in my eyes.
Also, I think that Drake should sit down and agree that if the show mixes up the tribes, that whichever new tribe has a majority of Drake members should throw the immunity challenges and vote off Morgan members. This seems like the best idea to me, since they will almost certainly mix up the tribes since Morgan has to sweep the remaining immunity challenges before the merge in order to have equal numbers after the merge. I think it is crap that they mix up the tribes, but it is probably the only way to keep it interesting after the merge.
Didn't Richard Hatch's tribe have a large majority after the merge and just picked off the other tribe one by one?

why the hell is this still on the air? never have watched more than 10 seconds of the first season/run, and that was not by choice. What are they up to now, take 5 or 6 of the idea?

Unlike "The Real World", "Survivor" reinvents itself each season. It's always got new twists and turns, which is perfect because it doesn't allow new contestants to plan their long term strategies based on past seasons. The challenges are always great too.

Overall, I just think it's a great social experiment. The show really brings out people's true personalites. When you are tired and hungry, it's tough to put on a happy face for people.

The idiots are at it again! I just watched my taped copy of Thursday's episode, and the crappy tribe lost again, and voted out the wrong person AGAIN!! Mark Burnett must hate this stuff.

Well well well. The Drake tribe finally lost a member. I'm glad it wasnt the girl (I forget her name), she is kinda nice to look at!

Rupert going to Morgan for 24 hours? It will be very interesting to see how he reacts, he seems to be a hyper-loyal type guy, and having to betray his own tribe for 24 hours will surely be hard on him - i'm sure he'll take it very seriously.

I only saw the last 30 minutes of the show so missed the rewards challenge and treasure chest - would anyone mind recapping what happened? what was the reward and what was in the chest?

And do you think that Drake threw that competition as they were hinting at before the immunity challenge?

Drake won the reward challenge, thanks to Morgan's Osten being a complete crybaby. They had to dig puzzle pieces out of the beach and get them from the water, too. When Osten went into the water to get one, he dove down once, came back up, and shouted that he was about to drown. Whatever - he's the muscle-i-est guy ever to be on Survivor and he's also the whiniest. Anyway, Drake won and got the last part of the treasure map. They also won an old-fashioned sewing machine and a lot of fabric. Cool.

When they opened the treasure, they found lots of food items, but some of them had leaked or spoiled, so it was a bittersweet find. They also found silverware, some wine, and other stuff.

Drake definitely threw the immunity challenge. You could tell that some members didn't even put up a fight before going in the drink. Personally, I think that the producers threw in the member-switch deal just to mess with Drake. Oh well. That goober John is going to have a rude awakening when he realizes that his position of power will be GONE with Rupert's return. The only reason he was a swing vote is because Rupert wasn't there. He better lose that cocky attitude before the next 3 days.

I have a feeling Jon's cocky attitude isn't going anywhere. Could Probst have been more pissed at him at T.C.?

Can't see Rupert giving up any info to Morgan. Actually, he's in a great position right now. People in Drake see how much they need him. Morgan realizes what an asset he is. Any guy who can fish like he can and doesn't get on your nerves probably won't be a target for awhile.

Glad that idiot Burt got the boot. Love it when someone thinks they have power and it blows up in their face.

Wow, Burton's idea to throw the challenge really worked out well for him.
Did anyone else notice that Osten cost his tribe 3 straight challenges? He sank his own boat in the reward challenge last week, lost the tug-of-war, and cost them way too much time with his drowning theatrics in 6 feet of water. I know that he put up a good show in the tug-of-war, but it came down to him and he lost, period. Andrew insisted that they kept Osten for his strength and physicality in the cahllenges, but he hasn't helped yet. He cost them more time in the reward challenge this week than Tijuana, although I don't know why he went into the water knowing that he can't swim. At least Lil and skinny Ryan tried to contribute at camp.

Damn it all, I'm hooked... After mocking all of the Survivor fans for the past few years, I admit it, I'm enjoying this.

And I blame it all on Rupert...

yeah, i loved burton's decision to throw the competition coming back to bite him in the ass. the thing is, his tribe is smart enough not to do just what the leader says, unlike morgan who just keep voting out whoever andrew says. follow that strategy, and sooner or later your name will come up next, unless you're andrew himself. morgan should get some balls and turf andrew, like drake did to burton.

What's really interesting is now both tribes have 6 members, at least for the next challenge. The question is, will Rupert give his best effort to help the Morgan team win? I wonder if they'll throw in another twist by letting Rupert decide which team to stay on?

Last season was great, lots of twists, fun to see how the female tribe reacted and then defeated the guys at some physical challenges. This season's pirate theme is a little much. The original concept was focused on what type of person or background would allow a person to survive. A Navy Seal versus a doctor for example. They have moved away from that a little bit this season, but it is still entertaining. The show allows you to get to know the people - if only on a superficial level.

It was my understanding that Rupert would only spend about 24 hours with the other tribe. Then again, I was too busy yelling at Drake for their stupid throwing of the competition to clearly hear what was going on. :)

He might participate with Morgan on a luxury challenge. That could prove interesting.

Why the hell did they throw the challenge?? It makes absolutely no sense. As long as they maintained their advantage through the merge then they could pick off the other tribe one by one until they are forced to knock off their own. It seems like only stupid people make it on this show.

I'd also like to know what huge mistake this guy makes when he "falls on his face" and what his huge surprise was.

The Drake tribe are idiots for losing on purpose. They had a chance to put a final nail in Morgan's coffin at that challenge.

I agree. If nothing else it's giving Morgan a little momentum going into the reward challenge, in which - I predict - Rupert will play an instumental role because the reward will be simply too good to pass up for the benefit of appearing loyal to Drake.

I usually root for the underdog, but in this case I was all Drake because Morgan was simply pathetic. However, Morgan is looking better. Esp. with Rupert.

Man, I can't believe Rupert came that close to getting voted out last night. I can't imagine they're giving this much screen time to someone who doesn't, at least, make the final three.
