Once Upon a Time in the West
I got the dvd yesterday(best buy put it out a day late) and watched it for the first time. I really loved it. I was wondering what anybody else's opinion on this movie is?
|
Well, I haven't seen it in a long long time, but as I recall it's awesome...
Bronson AND Leone? Can it be any cooler? |
This is my favorite western of all time. It has so much style. It trancends the genre like no other western ever has.
|
I've got the movie on VHS.
Whenever I do watch it, afterwards for days, Bronsons' harmonica tune is playing around in my skull. This movie surprised the hell out of me with how evil Henry was. I hadn't seen him as a bad guy before. He was very believable, to me. I haven't watched it in a year or so. I need to get it out, dust it off and see if it's still as good as I remember it being. Oh yeah, I'm a Jack Elam fan and he was his usual great self in this. |
I'm glad they released this on a great DVD set, but I sure hope it wasn't meant to cash in on our hero Bronson's death earlier this year.
|
I've never seen it, but I think its one of those movies I'm going to just buy first. It sounds great.

This is probably my favorite Sergio Leone film. I mean c'mon... Directed by Sergio Leone, and written by Dario Argento and Bernardo Bertolucci?!? How could you go wrong! :D I'm very, very happy that they gave this great title the special edition treatment. Let's hope more cult "secondary" titles get that treatment! :) |
This is a great movie. will buy this sometime still have my old vhs version. Everything about it is class even the music score is moving.

Eastwood does credit Sergio Leone as his mentor, so.... |
I agree, best western movie of all time with "The good, the bad and the ugly" not far behind.
|
Sergio Leone's westerns are without question (IMO) the best films of the genre.
I never tire of watching A Fistful of Dollars; For a Few Dollars More; The Good, The Bad and the Ugly; and Once Upon a Time in the West. I was glad to OUTITW is out on DVD, I read a review that said the transfer is awesome. Fans should also check out Once Upon a Time in America... BTW...has anyone ever seen A Fistful of Dynamite? I've never been able to find a copy (not that I've look that hard). |
If anyone is a fan of spaghetti Westerns, Sergio Corbucci is another great director. His claim to fame was Django, but also did some of the Trinity movies, and my personal favorite - The Great Silence.
