Ganguro 11-25-2003 10:39 PM

Witch hunter Robin
KareKano
Naruto
GTO live action
Sailor Moon Live Action
E's Otherwise
Ikktousen
Sexy Commando
Read or Die T.v Series
Momoiro Sisters

on top of that i run #lasvegasanime on irvingnet.net and im trying to unify the two local anime clubs at our local community college, and organized the citywide anime meetup. That is why i feel pretty confident about my anime knoledge.. i have a wee bit of a problem :)

sub zero 11-27-2003 12:23 AM

Easily Maison Ikkoku one of the most romantic stories ever told. Lain and Boogie Pop Phantom, new series but really good and twisted stories. Samarui X perhaps one of hte best anime ever made period

World's King 11-27-2003 02:25 AM

Out of all these nerds I didn't expect anyone to be into anime...

Damn, I wish I had seen this thread earlier.

Anyway, I'm surprised no one has recommended my favourite anime series, Rurouni Kenshin! Some of you may have seen the OAV, Samurai X, based on this TV series (which is, in turn, based on the manga). The series is a perfect balance of drama, action, and comedy. It's always engaging and never ceases to surprise. The show is good til episode 28, then it becomes great! Don't bother watching past episode 62.

sartan 12-26-2003 06:45 AM

I like Spirited Away, NGE, Vampire Hunter D, just to name a few.

Mr.Deflok 12-26-2003 04:07 PM

Has anyone here seen VOICES OF A DISTANT STAR? Saw the poster and was wowed by it.

Recently bought Kai Doh Maru, sounds great!

Ganguro 12-27-2003 06:19 AM

we're renting voices over here this weekend, i'll let you know how it is after the holidays..
Though, if you happen to see millenium actress somewhere for under 25 bucks.. pick it up!
it's really good..
The maturity level of the peice reminded me of Jin Roh, but the approach and character design and pacing reminded me of a Miyazaki movie, but not as "cutesy". Very fucking well done.

Here is a link to more info

RemyLebeau97 12-27-2003 08:46 PM

Anime Question....

Does anyone know where I can find some good, clear full body pictures of Saya from the movie Blood: The Last Vampire???? My girl wants to get a tattoo of Saya on her side and she wants a full body pic of her, possibly with her sword. If anyone can post pics or sites with nice pictures of Saya it'd help me out a bunch, Im just havin trouble finding them, Thanks yall.

jhericurl21 12-27-2003 09:03 PM

Anyone notice that No Doubts video of "Ex-Boyfriend" copies scenes from the anime Kite

Ganguro 12-27-2003 09:15 PM

google image search is your friend

http://www.bloodthemovie.com/wallpaper3_640.jpg

Thats all i could find..
remember.. if you use fanart to base the tattoo from please contact the artist first to ask for their permission.

Mr.Deflok 12-27-2003 11:18 PM

Just rented and watched VOICES, wow, I was utterly speechless after seeing that, have to go buy it as soon as possible.

Ganguro 12-28-2003 07:01 AM

That reccomendation coupled with the fact that my movies are due today and a begging girlfriend will help me rent voices today.. I already know the ending though..
It's sad :(..
oh well.. let's discuss the OVA sometime!

Atomsk 12-29-2003 10:09 AM

i've watched a damn large amount of anime in my time and i would say a forum for it wouldn't be such a bad idea. i read plenty of manga as well. i don't spend any more time watching anime or reading manga than i do playing video games but i try and keep a good balance of doing both at the same time.
lately i've been reading up on the berserk manga which is WAY different from the TV series. i keep up on the latest releases from japan and when a new volume is translated i usually pick that up as well so i can see what they are saying in english. i watched the original TV berserk series fansubbed almost 5 years ago. so its pretty fair to say i saw that greatness comming out long before anyone even heard of it. i'm excited now that the box set is out to see lots of people getting whipped up about it. i love scryed and have both the manga and fansubs of the tv series. i want to get the dvd boxset asap. just waiting a bit for them to wrap it up.

raxephon was pretty much the same as evangellion almost down to the characters which was damn freaking and frankly, i thought, kinda a cheap ripoff. but don't let the keep you from watching it its actually not half bad.

ultimately i think making an anime forum wouldn't be such a bad idea and in the end if it turns out not to be used at all i suppose it could be removed. considering how varied the "entertainment" section is it might not be a bad idea to segment that out in several cases. such as tv/movies/anime. regardless it might be worth some thought.

Mr.Deflok 12-29-2003 12:50 PM

Just got my hands on a copy of Voice of a Distant Star, so happy! I'm contemplating getting into Gasaraki but don't want to shell out the cash for the boxset and can't find Volume 1, woe is me.

gwr_gwir 12-29-2003 05:16 PM

mm. have heard good things about kai doh maru. will have to check that out. picked up 2 of the 3 volumes of Now and Then, Here and There (for $3 each, used). any ops on the latest eps of InuYasha, or the series overall?

Ganguro 12-30-2003 03:05 AM

InuYasha is like shonen anime.. but girls dig it because of the love story and the main character is cute..
The guy who does the voice of Inuyasha is pretty cool, and the production team tries REALLY HARD to get things out in the states and translated well and as quickly as possible. Personally i didnt like it at first, but after meeting the voice actors and producers at a con..i gave it a second chance, and it's not too bad.

I dont have any detailed opinions on the series though..

Mr.Deflok 12-30-2003 12:42 PM

Just started watching RahXephon and though I've only seen the first 5 or so episodes of Neon Genesis Evangelion the similarities are striking. However RahXephon is still great anime, I just wish they kept it deadly serious throughout, character design is top-notch in this one.

Spinach_Indeed 01-02-2004 10:58 PM

I just finished watching the Serial Experiment Lain box set that I got for Christmas. I had seen a few episodes before, but they were scattered. It's a completely different effect, watching all of them, one right after another.

Wow. The first few episodes, I thought I could see where it was going, but as more and more things were introduced it grew denser and denser, to the point where I had no idea where it would end. The final episode made me smile and want to cry at the same time.

Good stuff.

Vizzini 01-03-2004 10:31 PM

Just finished downloading all the current episodes of Naruto myself. Wow, pretty much my first real anime that I have seen since Akira oh so long ago.
Really looking forward to the weekly episodes to start up again.

Someone mentioned Rurouni Kenshin. Does anyone know if this is unlicensed? If it is are there any bit torrent links for it? I cant find it all.

Ganguro 01-04-2004 07:45 AM

Kenshin is liscensed, has been for years.
sorry.
You can go out and buy it though..

I just picked up Abenobashi Shopping Arcade eps 1-4 on DVD and it's really funny and weird. Kind of like FLCL in terms of comedic value, but a little more lighthearted in content.
It was produced by Gainax and madhouse and is about a year and a half old, but is just comming to the states on dvd.
Here is a review is anyone is interested. http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,8...ashi_maho.html

Deflok, you didnt tell me voices of a distant star was only 30 minutes long.. is it?
the dvd i picked up was 30 minutes with 70 minutes of supplimental features.. is that correct?

Sadly this is the case, however it is still excellent anime and works a whole lot better as a shortfilm with the story it is trying to tell. After all the entire film was made by one man (with help here and there).

Just watched the END OF EVANGELION... ****ed me up.

Starfish 01-04-2004 11:13 PM

I have only watched 2 of them

Ghost in the shell - loved it :)
Akira - it was pretty good

nukeu666 01-05-2004 04:03 PM

i just watched hellsing
damnn cool
its like a mix of trigun and bebop(animation/music wise)

currently downloading hack sign anime and naruto manga

Ganguro 01-05-2004 09:57 PM

you know, you may be breaking the law downloading that hack sign anime. and the naruto maga..
just in case you were wondering.

Mr.Deflok 01-05-2004 10:41 PM

Which Anime is legally downloadable? I'm not really down with the Anime scene thought I've seen/own/know a lot more than most people and a whole lot less than the fans.

nukeu666 01-05-2004 11:42 PM

naruto isnt licenced yet
as for the laws...i doubt ne1 is concerned about them here

Ganguro 01-09-2004 02:49 PM

Been trying to catch up on a few new series (werll not too new, but only a few months old)
Airmaster - From what i can tell it's a somewhay typical shoujo anime with shounen beat-em-up elements.. still pretty promising
,
Peace Maker Kurogane - Like Naruto only with samurai. The main character wants to be acknowledged for being strong and avenge his father's death by being a samurai

Narutaru - Really odd..

Kero Kero Chime- Havent really watched too much of this.. all i can pick out is it involved frogs.. lots of em.

Full metal Alchemist- The coloest out of this bunch 2 brothers in an attempt to ressurect their dead mother destroy their house and lives through the practice of alchemy. the elder brother kills the youngest by accident and his spirit is contained in a suit of armor as they roam the contryside trying to find the right spells to bring their mother back and give the younger brother a new body.

I know these arent the best descriptions.. but look them up on http://www.animenfo.com and see reviews, and download what you like from http://www.animesuki.com

What are you guys/gals watching?

Ganguro 01-20-2004 05:19 AM

Need to add to the new series list
I started buying Abenobashi Magical Shopping Arcade on DVD, I'm also watching fansubs of:

Mezzo DSA - Based loosely off an Ecchit Title Mezzoforte (which is based off another tite Kite whic is much more hardcore) This it turning out to be a great action series. With 3 episodes under it's a great time to start watching without being too far behind. The story thus far is a group of ex cops and assasins called the DSA (Danger service Agency) work for a mysterious benefactor who wishes to retrieve an item from a group that are called "the machos". Along the way they save a newscaster and a young girl who decides she wants to be prat of the DSA as well. Lots of fanservice and action sequences.

Ocha Ken - Despite the fact that this is a series about dogs made out of differnt types of tea, it's very cute! It's produced similar to the U.S's Blue's Clues. Short episodes, about 5 minutes a piece.

So.. anyone else see anything good lately?

Maraken 01-22-2004 05:51 PM

A manga I'd recommend is Midori No Hibi, being translated by SnoopyCool. The main character wakes up one day with a girl on his arm instead of a right hand. Has to be one of the funniest things I've read so far.

Ganguro 01-25-2004 07:54 PM

New series update!:
(overviews will be added as soon as possible, for not.. look the series up at http://www.animenfo.com or google them)

Green Green

Saiyuki Reload

Gunslinger Girl

Also im really looking forward to the new season of Naruto starting on the 28th. It's gonna kick soo much ass. I have the manga that is waay past the anime, but i'm resisting reading it because i like the series so much.

Rawrr 01-25-2004 08:41 PM

Recently started watching Anime after seeing Akira a couple years ago (or so it seems) on the Sci Fi Channel..

I watched

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust first..what a cool movie I must say.. I really loved the vampire theme and it has pretty good action ;)

Ghost in The Shell was the second movie I watched and I wasn't really to impressed with it..The drawings were spectacular but I didn't really enjoy the anime itself..was rather boring in my opinion

Ninja Scroll was the last movie I saw and boy oh boy was it good.. the first 15 - 20 minutes of the anime were just plain nuts!! The gore almost got to me but I kept watching and the movie just kept getting better..really liked that one.

Ganguro 01-25-2004 09:36 PM

Ninja Scroll is awesome, and to think it's like a decade old!
The new tv series bnased off the movie is very well done as well. It's being sold here in the states for 18 bucks a DVD.. U.S Manga Corps is putting it out i think// though i could be mistaken.

Also.. Genon (formerly Pioneer) is re releasing DVD's at a value price of 20 bucks a peice..
Now i can finally buy all of Gatekeepers!
yay!

Slayer 04-19-2004 09:05 AM

I love Initial D. Anyone seen the 4th Stage yet? I think it came out last week. I heard they using cel shaded instead of CG for the racing part.

-=shikamaru=- 04-19-2004 11:35 AM

Ugh too many posts in here, we really need our own forum so we can split up the topics into seperate series and stuff.

Anyways, I have been hooked on Naruto until I ran out of episodes to watch (guess who my favorite character is), but the fight animations in it are probably one of the best I have seen in a TV series.

So here are my recommendations (some of these are not as well known as the ones Ive seen so far):

Rorouni Kenshin (Only good during the Kyoto arc really, about ep 29 to 67)
Naruto (once you get over the first few episodes)
INUYASHA!!!
The Rurouni Kenshin OVAs
Haibane Renmei (Same guys who did Lain, but not as weird)
FLCL
BoogiePop Phantom
Escaflowne
Junni Kokki (hard to find though)
Wolf's Rain
Anything by Hayao Miyazake
Beserk
Maohoramatic (did I spell that right?)

And of course, Slayers, just because of the bouncing breasts

Soda_BoB 04-20-2004 06:07 AM

I used to watch anime back in the day.... stopped for a while and recently pick up NARUTO.. it's a great show.. I've seen like the first 50 eps or so..

Slayer 04-20-2004 02:50 PM

Any Slam Dunk fan here?

Golgothas 04-20-2004 03:51 PM

GANTZ!

Vizzini 04-20-2004 09:29 PM

Just watched FLCL. Amazingly bizarre anime with the best voice acting I have heard to late. (japanese that is, never watch the dub).

Also recently finished Azumanga Daioh. This one is definately in my top 5. A simple show about 6 high school girls. Funniest thing I have ever seen. Loved it.

Saw Cowboy Bebop for the first time ever. Can see why its considered one of the best. It is.

Fruits Basket was also another good series. Some of the episodes kinda dragged but all in all was very good.

Currently watching, as they are released:
Naruto (pretty much started it all for me)
One Piece (am liking this better than Naruto now, woo Chopper!)
Full Metal Alchemist (Loving this one as well)

Infernal 04-21-2004 07:39 PM

These 3 anime movie every anime fan must see!!

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
Ninja Scroll
Kenshin OVA : Trust & Betrayal

Seer666 08-14-2004 06:31 PM

I've become a REALLY big fan of Noir. I like the darker animes. I've been trying to find more good ones along this line of anmie, and was hopeing someone here could recomend more. Perfect Blue is another one that just blew my mind.

Excel Saga, is great for a laugh.

I would highly recomend Gunslinger Girl if you liked Noir. Not as much action but IMO a much better show.

Maybe Madlax as well, though I don't know too much about that one.

Ganguro 12-06-2004 04:50 AM

Thread resurrected.

So i guess the Anime forum idea is out the window (for now), but we can still discuss it here.

Anything new out there catching your eye? Any great domestic releases you want to beam about?

I've been watching Naruto and live action movies of Casshern and Cutie Honey.. but that's about it. This year was kinda "bleh" as far as new anime series goes.. at least for me. Though some good things like Gokusen and the ROD TV series came out..
I also got to meet some really cool artists and directors at cons and lecture circuits this year. Next con im gearing up for is AniZona in 2005.

alarment13 12-06-2004 09:08 AM

an anime forum would be great! i love anime, but have not watched any in a while. some of my favs are akira, perfect blue, ninja scroll, ghost in the shell, and robot carnival. has anyone ever seen this last one? ive been looking for it for sale, but i have only found used vhs or bootleg dvds on ebay

I just never knew the characters names till now.

tropple 12-06-2004 10:12 AM

hehe.. i posted an anime thread a week or so ago and no one responded.

I guess anime ain't happening here.

pinkie 12-06-2004 10:17 AM

Masamune Shirow is my favorite amime artist, and Ghost in the Shell is the coolest movie.

Appleseed is cool too.

Has anyone see Ghost in the Shell2?

Ganguro 12-06-2004 06:24 PM

pinkie, i saw Innosense a month ago, and it was BEAUTIFUL.
Havent seen stand alone complex yet, because I didnt really like the original that much.
I may get stoned for this, but all of the "classics" i never really liked.. Robotec, Gundam, Akira, Ghost in the shell, etc... I guess I find cyberpunk and mecha anime too predictable and not enjoyable at all to atch.
Though.. to directly contradict myself.. Gundam Seed was excellent, and medeval series like Record of Lodoss war, and Beserk were well done too.

bltzkriegmcanon 12-06-2004 06:26 PM

Man, I really, really want an anime forum. I guess using this thread as our overall will have to do for the time being.

FngKestrel 12-06-2004 08:57 PM

Rurouni Kenshin is definitely one of my favorites. Got them all on DVD. Redeemed assassins are always a great melodramatic hook.

Anything by Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service, Laputa, Totoro, Nausicaa) is usually worth watching at least once.

Grave of the Fireflies makes you forget that you're watching anime with how painful and depressing it is to watch.

One "near-anime" film that I didn't see mentioned on here is Casshern. Based on a 70's anime, this movie is live action, but screams out anime styling and intensity. I highly recommend going to their website and checking out the trailer.

Akira confused the hell out of me, and it still does. And this is from someone who actually has all the manga issues.

The first Lodoss War is great, has anyone watched the second series?

MiSo 12-07-2004 01:22 AM

I beg to disagree. What is needed is enough threads to warrant a group, not one huge-assed thread where we all tell each other now much we like aniime.

I posted this last week:

http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=77170

It's got 9-10 views. No one said a thing. Even to say that they didn't really like Armitage, or had never heard of it, Nothing. Nada. Zip.

There is no interest and no response to anime posts. That's why there is no Anime forum.

Ganguro 12-07-2004 05:52 AM

someone's upset that we didnt read his post :)
Actually.. there might be casual or diehard fans of anime, but this site doesnt need MORE forums.. it has too many already ( when i first joined TFP had like.. 10 forums tops) The chance of an anime Forum is nill, but we can discuss it. MAybe if more threads started about anime and the ilk, it would show interest.. but if someone hasnt seen appleseed the thread would go like this:

"Have you seen X anime"
"No"

And that would be it. Not very interactive huh?

I just dug this thread up for shits and giggles.. when interest dies down, it'll dissapear.. but for now.. enjoy it.. This isnt a competiton. When something out there grabs your eye let us know about it, new thread or not.. If the interest is there to discuss it.. then it'll happen on it's own.

I saw the Casshern movie, it's pretty darn good, the original i didnt like that much, but the movie was actually decent.

There are a few live action movies comming out soon. DevilMan is the one i can think of right now, butthere is another one..i forget the name of it. The NGE movie, is that still being worked on?

If you think grave of fireflies is depressing.. Watch Sashuu Heiki Kanojo (SaiKano), or Voices of a Distant Star. There are a lot of dramas out there that just happen to be animated. A lot of people think anime=cartoons; but it's really just a medium to tell a story. (As one parent from my local group recently found out after buying her kid Perfect Blue)

I bought some time ago the Studio Ghibli Boxset with all of Miyazaki's movies in it (except Spirited Away) and havent watched through all of them yet. I keep getting stuck on Totoro, Kiki's and Porco Rosso (which Disney is dragging it's feet to do a theatrical release in the states for some reason). I'll have to actually sit down and watch Laputa one day, because i've heard great things about it for years.

Just bumpin this one in case someone can tell me...

In Serial Experiments Lain, how is she able to affect the real world from the net? I still don't QUITE have my head around that one detail.

I've just had myself a mini Lain marathon... *feels spaced out*

MichaelFarker 03-18-2005 04:42 PM

I love anime because it makes great artwork accessible and enjoyable to me. Monet and Rodin on my tv.

Another great part of it is the interesting characters. Some anime does a fantastic job of developing characters and drawing you into their world. In the process the best anime teaches you a little bit about what people are like.

Some anime makes me laugh out loud or feel like I am on top of the world. Few mainstream tv shows and movies have had the same impact on me, however entertaining they may be.

I've had trouble finding most of what I wanted to see for many years now, not wanting to buy dvds. I'm giving Netflix a try and it seems to make it a lot easier.

*edit* My favorite so far has been Cowboy Beebop for the intermingling of music and story, the cheerful approach to personal loss and the unusual characters. Please feel free to turn me on to something better.

OK I didn't see that this was answered about the NGE movies* coming out but remember the Evangelion series, the 20 odd episodes, that ended in an insanity about some super consciousness and other nonsense about alternate lives... well the movies that came out and will come out are to correct that folly since the creator received death threats and even bricks thrown at his house.

Also, has anyone heard of a new LIVE ACTION EVANGELION MOVIE!! I read it somewhere, then heard it by someone else, and I freaked. I am a huge fan of the giant battling robots, started off with Robot Jox (it's not an anime).

And the Bubblegum Crisis: Story of the Knight Sabers and Tokyo 2040 were great. I own them both. However was Total Crash really that good? The guy at Suncoast said that he refused to sell it to me because, in his expert opinion, it was crap. Let my buy BGC: Story... but not Crash.

Also, :waits for samurai to come in and slash me up: I'd love a Tilted Anime in interests. Then we could find discussions pertaining to exactly what we are looking for.

If anyone has any remote interest in anime, you got a check out Scrapped Princess and Last Exile.

Definately two of the best out there.

MiSo 03-20-2005 11:42 PM

scrapped princess was interesting for the first couple episodes, but then it kinda faded.

Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, Gantz, Bleach are a few great ones that come to mind.

I've sure enjoyed GITS: Stand Alone Complex on Saturday evening lately. Well written, well illustrated, well directed, and fantastic music make it one of the better anime series out there. It was great watching it before I want out to see GITS: Innocence, too.

If anyone's interested in an anime with great character development and a deep plot I highly recommend Twin Spica. It might be a bit slow developming for some, and is not action-packed, but the story line is excellent. I'm not very good at writing reviews, so feel free to check out the link so that you can get a better idea as to what the anime is about.

Twin Spica reviews

Twin Spica is only 20 episodes, and they are available at animesuki.com. I've watched the series three times, and each time is just as good as the last.

Most of the way through Full Metal Alchemist right now, and I love it. Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex is on its way, then I'll check out Evangelion.

tspikes51 05-05-2005 08:10 PM

Favorite animes:

Ninja Scroll
Vampire Hunter D
Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040
Tekken

I also liked the Evangelion mangas.

Siege 05-11-2005 08:41 PM

my favourite is probably the Rurouni Kenshin OVA series... (the first 4... not the ones about his dumbass kid....)

i just finished:
My HiME: pretty solid story and character development, but the ending was lame...
Air: Again, solid character development (of the few main characters anyway....) and the ending isn't terrible... it's a drama though.. so not for those "naruto and DBZ pwns joo people"

in progress:
Bleach: so far it's good, but unless the story picks up, i'm just going to keep downloading it for collection's sake...
Naruto: Lost interest in this a long time ago.... downloaded simply for collection purposes and to lend to my lazy friends....
Monster: Only on ep 15, but so far it's an excellent anime about a serial killer and the doctor who saved his life (who, ironically, is also trying to kill him)

I love anime.. it's a hobby and a minor addiction, if you will. :) From Evangelion to Excel Saga, Irresponsible Captain Tylor to Lain, I love just about all anime I've watched (and I've watched a good deal of it)

I would love to see an anime forum!

Quote:

What do you like anime or manga?
Both, though I find anime more easily accesible. Having said that, Manga does have it's place and is a fine addition to the fine art of the graphic novel.

Quote:

What are some of your favorite anime OVA's or series?
Hellsing
Steel Angel Kurumi
Rune Soldier
Record of the Loddoss War
Excel Saga
Witch Hunter Robin
Blue Seed

Though pretty much anything that has magic and humor will work for me.

Quote:

What are you reading or watching now?
Nothing, just got done watching Twelve Kingdoms with my wife. It's a bit dry, but it's really pretty, and I'm an artist any way.

Quote:

Are you into fansubbing at all, and what are your hopes for anime in the mainstream culture?
I, personally, would rather have dubbed than subbed anime. Odd, since I prefer all foreign live action films subbed. Anyway, anime is continuing to make a faily big splash in the US, most likely pushed by the continued love in this country of anything Japanese and also the clamouring for video games. My only hope is it continues and that people who watch anime gain an apreciation ofthe culture from which anime and manga comes. I know I still am.

Quote:

Know any good "unknown" series to get into?
Not really. Then again, a better question might be "what do you consider unknown?"

Quote:

What is your favorite character and why?
Don't really have one. Mine is the interest in the art and the story. Characters help the story move.

Quote:

How long have you been into anime?
Longer in years than I can count on both hands.

Quote:

Notice any differenced between japanese and korean manga series?
Korean manga art commonly has bigger breasts on the women. I kid you not, that is the first thing I noticed. :D

Quote:

Is Hentai anime?
Yes. Mainly pornographic anime, but anime none the less.

And now a question for the enthused fans of anime: What is better, subbed or dubbed, and why?

Nikilidstrom 03-09-2006 02:27 PM

For me, it depends on how I first saw that particular anime. For example, I first watched Cowboy Bebop dubbed, and got used to the voices and the personality that came through those voices. So when I watched it again subbed, I found I wasn't able to connect to the characters as well as before.

On the other hand, the first time I saw Record of the Lodoss War, it was subbed, and I finished the series that way. I later saw a few episodes dubbed, and found the voices to be extremely annoying.

I have many other examples of this in my own experience, so I'd have to say it holds true across the genre for me.

The unfortunate reality is that anime simply isn't popular enough on TFP to warrant its own forum. As big as TFP is, it really isn't that big and very few people on here enjoy it, not to mention how broad a subject it is.

Hell, even Tilted Programming doesn't even deserve its own forum. It only got one because of long time requests from the very few but enthusiastic programmers on TFP.

Having said that, it's unfortunate that there's no anime forum, too, because a single thread about something as broad as anime simply doesn't cut it. It's not useful to see a post about one series only to see a response be another post about some other series. If you have something to say about anime, unless a moderator has said otherwise (and I don't see why they would have), please start a new thread...

You won't get any arguement from me on this.

I'm a huge Naruto, Bleach, and Hellsing fan. :)

I like, both, Naruto and Bleach but I prefer One Piece over either of them. It really does have a better story...

ariekitten 03-18-2006 03:37 AM

ah.....anime! i think it would be a great idea to start up an anime forum. there are so many things i'd love to discuss with others regarding the meanings and plot twists, etc. also, i'm sorta outta the loop when it comes to what newer anime is good to watch, so people could recommend stuff.

i've seen alot of animes, but a few of my favorites are:
Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Berserk, Lain, Fruitsbasket, Excel Saga, Evangelion, Full Metal Alchemist (just too many to list!)

I had been reading the manga of Battle Royale and man it's pretty intense and gory. Regarding what I thought about the ending of Evangelion....i think that it came down to shinji having the choice of whether or not to save his race and condemn the angels. god was upset with the humans and meant to destroy them, but somehow through the eva project and other events, shinji was the one who was left up to deciding, and i guess he saw that humans were ultimately not worth saving....so sad. he let the as he once knew it fade away and embraced the new one.

ok, so any other opinions regarding the ending of evangelion? or other animes?

anyone know if they're going to make more fruitsbasket? i'm addicted, heh.

cdwonderful 03-25-2006 05:37 PM

I started out on Bebop, wormed over to Trigun, hit GITS (SAC & 2nd gig), which led to Appleseed and of course Full metal alchemist, Hellsing, and vamp hunter d.
Turned my brain off to enjoy Oh my Goddess, and am trying to appreciate Bleach
