Did anybody notice the scene that they added in of Theodred's (sp?) burial seemed to just end right in the middle? Whats-her-face is just singing along and the bam the scene switches, there's some lame sound of the stone being set in the doorway and then it's the Theoden/Gandalf scene.

Maybe I'm just too picky but that seemed horribly rushed.

I didn't seem that bad to me... did you want to see a shot of everybody saying goodbye then walking away? I think they probably assumed we would figure out that the funeral was over.

I think it was intentional.

Personally, I think the added scenes improved the movie quite a bit.

No chance of seeing me buy it. I don't want to sound immature and impatient, but I don't think I could watch TTT for a fourth time on the cut version, let alone the extended version. I found that it just doesn't seem to go quickly enough after seeing it for the first couple of times. Don't get me wrong - it was amazing, but just doesn't seem like it's worth paying to see four? hours of TTT.... I'll try watching it at a friend's though. Who knows? I might love it...

Oops! I just changed my opinion in a single paragraph.

I watched the rest of TT the other night and I have to say that the extended scenes in the second half were much better. One thing I was curious about is whether or not there was a way to turn off the extended scenes? Because I'm sure there will be a point when I will want to see the film as I saw it in theatres and I dont want to have to buy the single disc version to do so.

No, you can't switch versions. There are lots of little things cut into scenes on top of the new stuff. You need the 2-disc set.

I just watched it last night. 6.1 DTS is the most amazing thing ever. I couldn't believe it. I really liked the extended scenes. I was happy they went more into Foromir and Boromir (yeah I don't know how they're spelled). Great movie, can't wait for ROFK.

It's Faramir and Boromir IIRC.

I watched it the other day.
I loved it but I ahem... never saw it in the cinema so I can't say how much better it is. (Shameful I know but I was kept winding up in countries where I missed it by about a week)

The film itself is fantastic , the interactive map is cool and I loved how they show the original location scout for Helm's Deep and Fangorn etc. Havent had much of a chance to see the rest of the documetnaries becasue frankly 4 hours is enough time to be sitting in front of the Idiot box.

More Generally how in the name of God did they find Faramir ? He looks so like Sean Bean that it is scary, especially when he is in his riders hood. I kept expecting Frodo and Sam to go "whooooa Dude , we thought you were dead "

And Orlando Bloom , my girl loves him to pieces and thinks he is the sexiest thing alive so this is the only place I'll get to say this , btu he's a disappointment. Lines that Viggo can make pathos filled or stirring or whatever just sound wooden coming from him. Real shame becasue Leogolas was one of my favourites from the books. (And that shield surfing scene ? Pur...leease...that was a bit naff).

So apart from Faramir finding Boromir what extra did I get ?

One other thing. There is more than enough room on a single DVD for the full movie. Why in the name of GOD did they span it accross two disks ? Getting out of the LazyBoy to walk all the way over to the player to switch disks is just too much of a spell breaker.

Oh Yeah and cant you just hear the Marketeer's rubbing their hands in glee planning the release of the
Lord Of The Rings 3 Movies , Extended Super Duper , 38 Disc , "Real Fan" , Extended Edition Box Set , complete with Wizard Staff and Lembas bread

I fully expect to pay $200 to $300 for it and for once I wont mind a bit.
