Favorite Monty Python Member

So I saw Eric Idle do a show tonite. He did a lot of old Python material mixed with a bit of new material, as well as some standup. Well, on the way home after we got the opportunity to talk to him for a little while, one of my friends says "I always though Eric Idle was the best Monty Python guy anyway." Now, If we had just seen Micheal Palin do a show I'm sure he would have said the same thing about him, but it got me thinking. Which is everyone else's favorite "Pythoner", or "Pythonite" or whatever.

I have my favorite, but I'll keep that to myself for now.

John Cleese is my favorite. I love the comical feel of his presence.

And his silly walk.

John Cleese all the way. I enjoy a lot of the stuff he did after Monty Python as well, even if it is a quick guest roll.

I really love the antics of John Cleese. He makes me laugh no matter what show he is on.

I voted for John Cleese, although I really couldn't decide between Cleese and Palin.

It was just too difficult. So, I gave Cleese the nod because of his wonderful voice over work in the skits.

I voted Eric Idle because he pulls off a really good innocent guy act.
I love his singing, as well.

Here's a mini-biography of him:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A701434

A quote from the "Nudge, Nudge" sketch:
Quote:
It's a curious fact that Idle's most famous contribution to the Monty Python's Flying Circus TV series was a sketch he tried to give away. The Nudge, Nudge sketch was offered to The Two Ronnies, but Corbett and Barker rejected it as they regarded it as being in poor taste.

Fortunately, the Pythons never allowed such considerations to inhibit their creativity. And so, instead of Corbett and Barker, it was Jones and Idle who acted out the roles of the stuffy-looking gent and the sleazy character who gleefully pesters him with highly personal questions and endless innuendo:

Idle: Your, uh, your wife, does she go, eh, does she go, eh?

Jones: (flustered) Well, she sometimes 'goes', yes.

Idle: Aaaaaaaah bet she does, I bet she does, say no more, say no more, know what I mean, nudge nudge?

Jones: (confused) I'm afraid I don't quite follow you.

Idle: Follow me! Follow me! That's good, that's good! A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat!

Unusually for Python, the sketch had a punch line:

Idle: You've been around a bit, you know, like, you've, uh.... You've 'done it'....

Jones: What do you mean?

Idle: Well, I mean, like...you've slept with a lady...

Jones: Yes...

Idle: What's it like?

Nudge, Nudge was, of course, just one of many major contributions Eric made to the Python TV series.

Terry Jones is my favorite. He can play so many parts and is always good for a laugh. Of course, all the other members are great, but Terry Jones stands above the rest.

In terms of making me laugh, Cleese is my definite favorite.
But I also have a special admiration for Terry Gilliam's talent, esp. as a director. (Plus, I got to meet him at the premiere of the director's cut of Brazil)

Sadly, I don't know any of them well enough. My Monty Python knowledge is limited. I'm familiar with a few of the skits, but don't know the actors very well.

I do, however, enjoy Terry Gilliam's other work, so I guess he would have to be my answer.

Very cool... but I have mixed feelings about Brazil. I saw it in the theaters with my girlfriend. I loved it. She broke up with me on the way home.

If your girlfriend doesn't like Brazil, it was never meant to be. Actually, I don't think any of my friends like it... just me.

John. I have vowed to marry him. I find him funny and attractive, in an older sort of way. I applied to the college he taught English at in New York to get a chance to meet him. I have sent him fan mail proposing to him (this was a couple of years ago, I have matured since then). I have posters of him. He is my favorite actor of all time. I am currently working on my collection of everything he has been in, physically or vocally.

Sorry, you struck a chord with me. Favorite person of all time.

John Cleese. the others were brilliant, but Johnエs own particular brand of humour just does it for me.
i also absolutely love Faulty Towers.

a friend of my family was in England a few years back, and while they were waiting for their train to leave a station, they noticed that every single person on the platform was watching this guy walking up the platform.
it turned out to be John Cleese, and to top it off, when he noticed that everyone was silently watching him, he suddenly broke into a silly walk... completely straight faced... the entire station+train+everyone just fell about laughing.... wish iエd seen that. sounds absolutely hilarious.

Oh sure. I suppose you'll next ask me which major internal organ is my favorite. This time, Eric Idle, but in a week or an hour I could give a different answer. There should be anther choice: "I'll take the Lot! "

Not only is he great in all the python stuff "My hovercraft is full of eels"....but he is also hysterical in Fawlty Towers. What great stuff.

Well, it seems that John Cleese appears to be the overwhelming favorite so far. I expected as much. But I do agree, I think they are all great, and it's kinda like picking your favorite kind of pizza. Even the worst pizza is pretty good.

My fav is also John Cleese, but the reason that Monty Python is so hilarious is because they were all funny.

Hmmm... That's a tough call for me.

In the series, probably Terry Jones. Loved some of his characters.

In the movies, definitely Graham Chapman. Life of Brian is my favorite movie ever!

After Python, John Cleese without a doubt. Fawlty Towers and Clockwise were brilliant.

Overall, I had to vote for Graham Chapman. But damn you for making me choose!

I love all of them so much that it makes my heart hurt to choose just one.

As my heart is hurting, I hear the screeching voice that Graham Chapman used every time he was in a dress, and my vote goes to him.
