WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE... the movie?!!?!!
When I was a little kid no matter what would happen during the day I would somehow manage to find time to read or look at WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE by Maurice Sendak.
To me this children's book was what let me develop my imagination into what it is today, Max was able to conjure up a world of his own from his thoughts, like Max I too have done so through my personal novels and drawings and sculptures. Sendak's book to me is the key to my imagination and to this day no other book can ever better in my personal opinion. http://www.harpercollins.com/coverim...0064431789.jpg So it gives me great grief to hear this news: http://www.comingsoon.net/news.php?id=2069 Quote:
Fuck you Hollywood, stop cashing in and start trying to make good films for the sake of making good films. |

well said. next i imagine they´ll be doing cashing in on Possum Magic or some other classic from our youths. as for Where the Wild Things Are ... great book and well, that has got to be the most memorable book cover ever. |
It can't be worse than what Mike Myers is about to do to The Cat in the Hat...
|
When will Hollywood start making up some original ideas for movies instead of turning every book on the planet into a movie? I almost hope they do a horrible job and the film makes no money so they won't have the desire to do this kind of thing again...

You dont have to see the movie.
I love what William Burroughs said when asked if he liked what they did to his book Naked Lunch. He said, they did nothing to my book, its right there on my shelf. |
this cant be good. after what they did to dr. seuss' grinch, im pretty scared about this...
|
I'm really not happy about Hollywood raping my childhood like this. That was the first book I learned to read.
|
sh-it. this sucks, massively. what's next, a live action "Horton Hears a Who" - only changed, to reflect society today - "Horton hires a ho"?
|
I've seen this thread sitting here the past few days, but I was too afraid of what might be lurking inside. Sadly my fears were acknowledged when I finally mustered up the courage to read it.
Arrrggghhh! |
I've never read this book.
Would I like it as a grown-up? |

I remember my brother telling me the wild things lived under my bed and they were gonna eat me if i fell asleep.....I hate big brothers.....

Original ideas? Hollywood? Nah. It just isn't possible anymore. They don't want to go through the work of writing up something new and different, so they simply decide to ANALY RAPE EVERYTHING. I want to go over to the guy who thought up this brilliant (sarcasm) idea, and blow his head open with a large shotgun (not sarcasm).
|
hmmm.... i dont really think it will be that good... hollywoods creativity is definently lacking of late... and live action... i dont know about that... i dont see it...
but at least Sendak (the author) is being involved... |
I can't wait to see it. Will make a great movie, especially with those who are involved.

This will need to go on my nephews' Santa wishlist. (don't tell him I pre-read it.) ;) Oh yeah, it is appropriate for 4yr. olds, right? |
I was one of the monsters in a production of it in German in grade school. It was great a got a little stuffed animal, I still have it.
OH the memories |
Besides, the movie can't compare to Wild Things, well, three minutes of it anyway.
|
I'm just wondering how they're going to turn a 20 page kids book with all of 5 sentences of actual dialogue into an hour long (or more) movie.
