Another anime question
Do you think it's possible to learn the language from watching enough non-dubbed anime? reading the subtitle while you hear the other language seems like a good way, and fun (unlike taking a class:o )

Most of the narration won't apply to you. You'll end up talking like a schoolgirl.
Japanese has a LOT of forms. You might gather some vocabulary but the nuts and bolts of the language are best learned in a class. |
Anything is possible. I would think it would be very difficult as the phrases would not be repeated which is a very common way to learn a language.

I'm pretty sure most of the translations are rather loose so it can sound more coherent to us westerners

You can learn a little bit, like stock phrases and such. I learned this much, myself.
However, if you take even an introductory class or book (I did the latter), you can learn a lot from watching anime. Of course, you can learn even more by actually talking to someone fluent in Japanese but this isn't as easy as finding anime... |

indeed. I will say, though, that classes can be fun. also, even if you somehow succeed (hypothetically) in learning a good bit of Japanese from watching subbed anime, you'd still be boned - you wouldn't know what any of the kanji meant, or how to write them, or any of the grammar/rules that apply to them.
