Why would a family go see Anything Else?

Actually, there were two things strange about the theatre audience of Something Else.
First, the audience were a bunch of teens, as if they were going to see American Pie. What appeal does a Woody Allen film have for a bunch of teen kids?
Secondly, there was a family behind me with three of their kids, not one of which was over 8. What were they thinking? They might have thought the same thing 'cause a third way through the movie, they left.

As an aside, a bunch of teen kids went to go see 13 Days, just to heckle it.

What were these people thinking when they went to see this film?

Actually its called Anything Else....

I don't know why anyone would want to see it. At all.

They thought they were going to see a romantic comedy staring Chirstina Ricci and the Guy from American Pie. The advertisers made next to no comments about it being a Woody Allen film. The ad campaign was different from any Woody Allen film I have seen in the theater.
The theater was full of teenagers when I saw it too, and as soon as Woody's face popped up on the screen the girl behind me moaned "oh man HE'S in this movie?"

I giggled.

When it ended about half the audience sighed "thank god"

I liked it, but I am a Woody Allen freak. It was better than his last few offerings, Sweet ANd Lowdown, Curse of the Jade Scorpian, Small TIme Crooks, and the piece of trash, Hollywood Ending.
So it was his best since Celebrity, which I loved.

Ah, yes. You are right and I feel dumb. The post has since been corrected.

Why do you make such a harsh comment? I mean, the Texas Chain Saw Massacre has absolutely no appeal to me but it's not inconceivable that it has appeal to someone?

Anything Else is a Woody Allen film that is a romantic comedy about the dysfunctional love of a young couple. What's there not to like?

I haven't seen the last few Woody Allen films but Sweet and Lowdown is one of Woody's best. Anything Else was alright but not great. Some of my favourite films of his are:

Manhattan
Annie Hall
Hannah and Her Sisters
Mighty Aphrodite
Deconstructing Harry
Sweet and Lowdown

I forgot Deconstructing Harry. I think you and I are the only ones that like that one.

Ok, it wasn't his best, but it had it moments. I loved the part at the end where he finds out his film is a big hit in France and he's all "Thank God for the French!".

But to be on topic... I'll have to check out this 'Anything Else'...

In Hollywood Ending I really liked the Asian character. He stole the movie.
