The Matrix Marathon - All 3 Matrix Movies IN 1 SITTING
Hi there
anybody going after the matrix marathon? over heres there one where you sit through the wrong 3 movies in the same cinema, from 11.30pm right to the next morning. thinking of going after it, but its price ($35here, thats 10 movies) is abit steep. Also, im kinda afraid my butt arent able to withstand that sorta..erm...pressure. so, anybody? |
Im just gonna do it in my dorm. Ill watch the first two on DVD and then head to the theater. Not quite the same thing, but close enough, and about $25 cheaper.

I still think the theater experience is worth the price.
|
I was considering if for the LoTR trilogy, so yea, I might do it...
|
If you have a home theatre, a pause button, a toilet you can go to and some good greasy chicken, why go to the theatres?

My ass falls asleep when i go see one movie for 2+ hours in a theatre. I think that if i were to sit thru 6-8+ hours my ass would be comatose and that would make me cry. It would really be awesome to watch em back to back, especially matrix, to see where they improved technology etc, but i just dont think that id make it haha.

Buy a projector. Connect to computer or TV with DVD. Find big white wall. Enjoy! :)
Seriously though, where do you live? I wish theatres around here had marathons like that! Also $35 for 10 movies? Think, that's $3.50 a movie. Around here, initial release movies are $6.50-$9!!! Personally, I'd go for it dude. Just make sure you bring your own food, and you know when to go to the bathroom during the dull parts... |
My local theatre did this with Star Wars in '95, it really takes a special kind of endurance to sit in a theatre for that long. I remember feeling stretched to the limit during the parts with the Ewoks.
|
With a good home theater, I would rather watch a movie at home. It IS as loud and earth shaking as the movie theater, and with a large enough TV, size isnt an issue either. If you have the money to drop on a nice home theater sound setup, you likely have the money to drop on the TV to go with it.

However the atmosphere in a theatre full of people who love the films is unbeatable, there's nothing like cheering along with the audience when the hero does something heroic. |
Hell, sitting through ONE LOTR movie is bad enough. They're good movies, but long as Hell. I couldn't/wouldn't do it. It's already sold out here! That's gonna be a bunch of sore asses.

i dont know if i could hack it. i have a big ol' tv and speakers here, so my friends and i are gonna do the same thing as sailor and unliked. im afraid i wouldnt be into revolutions as much after sitting through the first two back to back to back. doing it at home guarantees that your intrest will be kept and you can talk and screw around unlike in theatres hehe. plus taking like 10 food breaks aint bad either :).

well, onodrim and I were going to do it with the LotR movies....until we saw how much monie we could make off the tickets. I mean, let's be honest, it's an awesome experience, but not worth passing up the kind of profits we could make from selling them.
I'd definitely look into doing it for the Matrix too, but I have a class that I can't miss that morning at 9:40, and the 3rd movie releases at 8 AM that day, so it's a no go :( This will be the first movie that I REALLY wanted to see in a long time that I'll miss the first showing for. |
never have watched the second and in rush to see the third film. Will probably wait until both of them are out on DVD (and questionable even then); will probably do the same for the second and third Lord of the Ring film.

we may do it also for lord of the rings |
likely im not able to watch it. for one its gonna burn a big hole, 2, it runs from 11.30pm to 5.30 am the next day, and 3rd, ive some MAJOR exams. nadda :(
Gotta wait for the DVD trilogy pack then. then proceed to find rich friend with big-ass projector, uber bosc speakers, bring chips and voila! |

A 46" TV is one thing but a 50 some foot screen is quite another. And a sub powered by the very demons of hell is a clock radio compared to a THX certified theater. I give the greasy chicken 2 clogged arteries out of 2!! |
Going to the theater anymore is just. not. worth. the. hassle. I'll gladly wait till Revolutions comes out on video and watch all three of them in the comfort of my own theater, with my 56" big screen and massive surround sound.
|
I'm considering it.. but mostly likely not, i'll just see the one coming out.

*shrug* maybe we just have nicer theatres around here, but so long as you go to the good theatres they're great, aside for the price. For 7.50-8.50 a ticket I can find a theatre with comfortable stadium seating with padded arm rests that is clean and has awesome sound. Just gotta go to the right places. |
Im going to the LOTR all three movie sittings, which is way better
and its only 20 bucks. Woohooo. |
