Movies You've Walked Out Of

(pardon the grammar in the thread title)

This is another thread I thought I'd already seen, but a SEARCH yielded nothing.

If you've walked out of more than one, what was the most recent?

Marci X.

That is the ONLY movie I've ever walked out of. My wife and I went on opening night, and we were the only two people in the theatre. Somehow everybody else knew it was a dud without even showing up.

I've sat through some real stinkers before, simply out of principle alone. But this one was just too much even for me.

HugAPug 10-20-2003 05:21 AM

I try not to walk out of too many movies because I'm too poor to throw money away like that but IIRC, I walked out of Independance Day. One of the very few movies I've walked out of. I guess I just wasn't in the mood for it. I saw it a few years later and it wasn't that bad.

spived2 10-20-2003 05:27 AM

I had to walk out of Dude, Where's My Car?. It wasn't very funny and it just kept getting stupider. I like stupid movies but that one was just too much.

foolio7714 10-20-2003 05:44 AM

I walked out of Crumb. Many people loved that movie but It bored me too tears. I also had a free pass for it so I didn't mind walking out.

I "walked out of it" on VHS. Well, I turned it off at least. My sister rented it once. It successfully holds the title of "worst movie" in my book.

happyraul 10-20-2003 06:03 AM

Lasereth, I hope you mean it holds the title of "worst movie" that you have seen in your book, because I'm fairly sure that Gigli, Crossroads, or From Justin to Kelly might be a tad worse.:p

bundy 10-20-2003 06:16 AM

i donīt mean to be offensive ... but i walked out at the end of Saving Private Ryan (well, it was almost the end ... but i wish to claim a walk out) ... at the point where the old guy is saluting the grave, and the fluttering American Flag was montaged in the background... that was just too much for me for two reasons.

firstly, it just got too sappy for my liking.
and secondly, that scene seemed to scream at me; this story is not for you, since you are not American...

i also remember walking out of the Ali G movie, Johnny Mneumonic and Chain Reaction... all because i thought they were a waste of my time.

XeroxPunk 10-20-2003 07:09 AM

I've never walked out of a movie for one reason: it could always turn out to be a zombie movie at the end. The end of Saving Private Ryan could have errupted in a Zombietastic orgy of mayhem and you'd never know.... its always worth sticking around just to find out.

rogue49 10-20-2003 09:09 AM

I walked out of Scary Movie right at the beginning.

haven't seen one yet.

Ganguro 10-20-2003 10:44 AM

So far all of the movies named saved for maybe "Saving Private Ryan" were movies.. you all should have known better to actually go to the theater to see it.
I wanted to walk out of AI, but i fell asleep and then woke up to see the last hour of it..
*shudders* soo bad..

onetime2 10-20-2003 10:59 AM

I walked out on Angel Heart.

never 10-20-2003 11:00 AM

the newest "Texas chainsaw massacre" HATED EVERY MOMENT OF IT

phukraut 10-20-2003 11:07 AM

never done it. almost did it with The Skulls. i also did a VHS shutoff with Cyborg2.

anleja 10-20-2003 01:23 PM

I walked out during the big battle scene at the end of LOTR:The Two Towers. I thought it was a good scene, but for some reason I started to get really claustrophobic (sp?) sitting there in the middle of the theatre filled to the max with opening weekend people. That was the only time in a theatre... I did take "It's Pat: The Movie" out of the VCR after 20 minutes because it was horrid, I tried to get my money back for the rental, but Blockbuster wouldn't do it.

I remember people walking out during the introduction of Fat Bastard in the Austin Powers movie.

lordjeebus 10-20-2003 04:49 PM

I would have walked out of "The Legend of Bagger Vance" but the audience was actively making fun of the movie and it was fun to listen to them.

None of those movies are as bad as the shit known as Dude Where's My Car. And yes, as far as I'm concerned, it is the worst movie of all time.

I almost walked out on Dungeons and Dragons but my friend kept bugging me to stay and see if it got better. That movie is shit.

mattevil 10-20-2003 05:37 PM

never walked out on a movie. turned a channels but i'm compulsivly do that anyways(more input! more info! BWHaHaHA! sorry..) ive seen some pure shit in my days. the cars that ate paris is bad as in not even funny bad. hell ive even watched some of the movies mstk3 spoofed before they were spoofed.probably the worst movie ive ever seen in theaters was either Dreamcatcher(it had potential dammit too!),Big Trouble, and street fighter. Good rule of thumb never watch a movie starring jason lee and tom sizemore together(by themselves is usally ok)

Jeff 10-20-2003 05:51 PM

I walked out of Hollow Man. It's was the most ridiculously predictable movie I've ever seen.

Food Eater Lad 10-20-2003 06:10 PM

I walked out of Spike Lee's School Daze. That movie stunk to high heaven.

Chingal0 10-20-2003 06:24 PM

Ive not walked out on any movies in the theater, I just choose to use my freetime in the worthless movie to make everyones lives miserable until I get kicked out.

Altho, I have turned many movies off when rented on DVD.

The Pledge
Empire
Fast n Furious
Dreamcatcher

blah blah

k1ng 10-20-2003 06:45 PM

Yeah, I agree with Chinagal. I dont walk out of movies. I do, however, turn rented movies off.

XXX - One of the worse movies that I've ever seen.

and I hear they are making a XXX 2? Vin Diesel said he wouldn't star in it, so it might be a little better. I still won't watch it.

JimmyTheHutt 10-20-2003 08:17 PM

Batman Forever.

I not only walked out, I did so cursing loudly the entire time, with most of the audience agreeing with me. That had to be one of the worst films ever made.

But it is topped by Manos: The Hands of Fate.

I think Ice Cube is doing XXX-2

only movie i walked out on was Nutty Pro 2

goddfather40 10-20-2003 09:56 PM

The only movie I recall walking out of was a movie called Strangeland which came out in like 1997 or 1998 or so.

CSflim 10-21-2003 04:00 AM

hhhm.....it occurs to me that I've never walked out of a movie in my life....as far as I can remember.
I'm too much of a stingy bastard.

Oddly enough, Batman Forever is considered the best of the series by most film critics. :) Batman and Robin is easily the worst of the series.

-Lasereth

clonmult 10-21-2003 07:40 AM

I would've walked out on the Big Lebowski (which is seriously lousy IMHO), if it wasn't for my G/f at the time giving me one seriously good hand job ....

Elegant Holmes 10-21-2003 07:45 AM

I bought a DVD called "Texas Rangers" at Ballbuster in the discount section. I saw the first 30 minutes, removed the crap from my DVD player, snapped the filth in half and stuck it in the rental return slot. If I could find their addresses I would send each of the producers of that garbage a nasty letter.

Whaaa??

The first two Batman movies (Batman, and Batman Returns) are easily the best. Every one after that = crap.

Snoogans 10-21-2003 10:49 AM

Never done it. I choose my movies wisely, if there's a remote chanse it will suck, I'll wait and rent it later.

World's King 10-21-2003 11:11 AM

Batman & Robin.

C'mon, that was the worst thing to happen to Bruce Wayne since his parents died.

Moobie 10-21-2003 11:12 AM

The only movie I've ever walked out on was Titanic, I work at the theater at the time and got into the movie for free. I'd also already seen it. It seemed like such a good idea to watch it again, but after the first hour of nothing happening and the thought of having to wait another hour and a half to see everyone die just didn't seem worth it.

The only video I remember turning off recently was Joe Dirt, I ended up watching again months later and it wasn't that bad, but I guess I just wasn't in the mood the first time.

i went to see andy warhol's "frankenstein" at a midnight movie in college. i was drunk and stoned for sure, possibly something else floating around in there, too...

i had to bail when one of the characters started trying to fuck another's incision..........:hmm:

bparker805 10-21-2003 01:05 PM

The first, last, and only movie I have ever walked out on was Devil's Advocate. As much as i tried, I could not get into this movie. But I didn't lose any sleep over it either.

Hrothgar 10-21-2003 01:43 PM

Netflix screwed up and sent me 2Fast2Furious. I watched it for about 30 min before the bullshit acting hurt my head and the 100th "Brah" was uttered. Packed it up and put in in the mail that instant.

healyk 10-21-2003 02:20 PM

I have only ever seriously considered walking out of one movie: Beloved. The story had something to do with a dead daughter coming back to life and being so mad at her mother (Oprah Winfrey) that she seduces Mom's boyfriend, gets pregnant, and stands in the doorway buck naked. Then she goes away. I also remember a close-up of Oprah squatting down on the ground and relieving herself. Well there was more than that, I suppose. THREE HOURS more, in fact.

Nikilidstrom 10-21-2003 02:53 PM

While I didnt walk out of it, but actually watched the entire film on video at home, The Pledge is one of the few movies I've seen that made me feel like someone had robbed me of 2 hours of my life, and I had nothing to show for it.

The other movies that have been mentioned in this thread I would have walked out of had I actually been crazy enough to pay money to see them in the theatre.

Mr.Deflok 10-21-2003 02:56 PM

I walked out of Titanic the second time I went to see it, loved it the first time but the second seemed so contrived, just waited to see Kates tits and left.

I should've walked out of Brotherhood of the Wolf too but I was just waiting for a moment that would redeem the film from being absolute bullshit.

thumper69 10-21-2003 03:03 PM

Walked out of 2 Fast 2 Furious mainly for 2 reasons
1) Sex, had the urge to just get it on
2) i heard the word "bra" to much (if you don't get it, see it again) damn that guy... LOL it's all good

Nimbletoe 10-21-2003 03:17 PM

Down with love, during that stupid 10 minute monolouge near the end. I can't believe I got dragged to see it.

txlovely 10-21-2003 05:54 PM

Kiss of the Spider Woman and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days - both incredibly painful.

wrongfullyaccuzd 10-21-2003 07:23 PM

i've never walked out of a movie on principal but iirc i turned off me myself and irene when i rented it...that was just bad.

ARTelevision 10-22-2003 12:53 AM

The second Matrix film.
The 3 of us decided after 45 minutes. it was unremittingly dreadful.

Spartak 10-22-2003 02:37 AM

I was under the influence of a lot of things and I fell asleep while watching The Fast and the Furious.. does that count as "walking out" :p ?

jvwgtr 10-23-2003 06:18 AM

I think the only one was Teenage Mutant Ninga Turles II.
I have a really hard time walking out, it just feels funny.

When I worked at a cinema, the movie that had the most walk-outs was Mixed Nuts. People demanded a refund. It got so bad, that we warned people before they bought tickets.
I had to see the whole thing.

God of Thunder 10-23-2003 09:22 AM

Never walked out, but I turned off "Airforce One" during the middle.

Just too unrealistic to me.

BeatBox 10-23-2003 10:19 AM

Bruce Allmighty

That movie should have been 15 minutes shorter. What a stupid film, it's Morgan Freeman's fault I stayed till 20 minutes before the end of the movie...

petergriffin24 10-23-2003 11:08 AM

I thought that movie was hilarious. Dreamcatcher was indeed a large dose of "GOD WHY?" but I could watch Big Trouble over & over again. I don't recall ever walking out of a movie no matter how stupid it was but a couple a times we've completely been watchin movies at home and just turned em off....example....Kids...but I was really young and my mom was like "Wtf is this? I'm not watching this" and she turned it off right at the begining. I still wanna check it out. The Killing Club with Tracy Lords is just a fuckin piece a shit I don't give a shit how hot people think Tracy Lords is ya couldn't pay me to watch the whole thing...it goes against my morals. I also have never finished Kung Pow either. Thats one a those movies where ya start watching them and ya get a hint in the beginning and then somewhere towards halfway ya just think "UNFUCKINBELIEVABLE!!" and shut it off and look for something good on Cable...I mean it had a few little moments in there that take you by surprize and are very funny but they are scattered hours from each other so for the life of me I can't understand why someone finds this shit funny. Must be easily amused mindless morons.

Asta!!

stinkynutz 10-27-2003 08:41 AM

Hmmm.....no one mentioned "Gods and Generals."
I've managed to sit through 1 hour of it. After that i've reached my threshold of pain and had to leave because I was about to claw my eyes out. It was soooooo boring. the guy kept babbling and babbling every 5 minutes about god and his family. i coudn't take it anymore.

I do like history, but the movie was way too detailed for me. Maybe i just don't get it since i'm not American.

AlCap0wn 10-27-2003 10:28 AM

I've stayed in every movie I entered.

Despite nearly 90% of the theatre walking out of Kill Bill (Pansies) I stayed the whole length.

rockzilla 10-27-2003 11:05 AM

I've seen about 10 movies in theatres in the past 5-6 years, and at least half of those were free passes. I won't spend money on a movie if I have any doubts about whether I'll enjoy it or not.
The closest I've come to walking out was when my gf got sick while we were attending a free preview of Zoolander. She went to the bathroom about 20-25 minutes in, and about 20 minutes later I went out to check on her and ended up taking her home. We ended up going back to see it a few weeks later, so maybe it doesn't really count.

sailor 10-27-2003 12:37 PM

Ive never walked out, but I turned off "Windtalkers" after about 20 minutes. Horrible movie.

fhqwhgads 10-27-2003 06:41 PM

I went to a free screening of "Very Bad Things" quite awhile ago. Never got past the part where they cut up the security guard. Not only did I walk out, but I threw away the free tshirt they gave me...

Melllvar 10-27-2003 06:51 PM

Star Wars: Episode 1. I was looking for the ejection seat button on my chair. That movie was so boring. Trainspotting was a movie that I stayed for, but strangly enough a group of slack jawed kids walked out of it. ha!

mew 10-27-2003 07:07 PM

I never walked out of a movie. Im not that picky. I usually like movies people find crappy, or Im just too cheap to waste a movie ticket. But this one movie Ghost Dog:Way of the Samurai, was the crappiest movie I had ever seen. My bf's wanted to go see it so I went, and we didnt even pay attention, we just goofed off since we were the only ones there. It was the single most boring movie I had ever witnessed. I was very disappointed. It was worse than all those movies listed above that I have seen (and agreed they werent the best), but man, no wonder it hadnt been properly advertised. Cause I never heard of it until those guys told me they wanted to see it. YUCK!

rs8001 10-27-2003 07:30 PM

Almost walked out on Star Wars Episode I. I probably should have as I had to bitch about it for a good week afterwards.

I did walk out on Ocean's Eleven. Admittedly, it was very close to the end anyway. I should have left earlier.

Haha I forgot about this piece of shit. Nicholas Cage was horrible in this movie, IMO. I cried myself to sleep the night that I watched this. Horrible.

Also, as K-Wise said, Kung Pow. Fuck me. Honestly, I think MAYBE 45 seconds after I turned to the PPV that had this movie on, I turned it off because I knew that my IQ would be lowered.

And I will re-inforce to the end of my days, NOONE, I mean NOONE rent THE PLEDGE. It is the biggest bag of shit movie ever. WORSE then that lawyer movie with John Trivolta. Worse. And that JT movie, I fell asleep in the theater to. A Civil Action I think was the name. Dont see either of those, especially The Pledge. I thought it would be decent cause of Jack Nicholson being in it. Fucking A was I wrong. I want my 2hours back.

sTghezzo 10-28-2003 01:32 AM

ive never walked out of a movie, partially because i try not to go see something in theater without it knowingly being good, and because if it does turn out to be bad, im gonna get my moneys worth, ill stick through it just sittin there with a hope that it will turn around and get good.

Hmm....I actually liked Ghost Dog a whole lot. Of course I am a HUGE Wu-Tang fan so that mighta had something to do with it. Another movie I forgot about was Mission Impossible 1 with Tom Cruise.....First time I watched it I fell asleep at the beginning and woke up somewhere towards the middle or end....I thought hmm maybe I was just tired but I think I watched it at least 2 more times again and still fell asleep. To this day I haven't been able to get through the first parts of that movie without it putting me to sleep. Being somewhat of an insomniac I should probably look into purchasing the movie now that I think about it. Much quicker than sleeping pills.

Asta!!

supafly 10-28-2003 02:39 AM

Ghost Dog, what a lame movie.

Ripsaw 10-28-2003 11:20 AM

When my buddy nudged me awake, it was time to walk out.

burntmonkey 10-28-2003 04:07 PM

I wanted to walk out of "To Die For". I thought, "Surely this movie will get better." No such luck.

I did walk out of Me, Myself, and Irene. Much too crude humor for me.

riptide4070 10-28-2003 04:30 PM

My ex-girlfriend (gf at the time) and best friend went to see "Unfaithful."

The last thing we all wanted to think about was cheating because it disgusts us and we don't find it provocative in the least.

"Murder in Sanfrancisco" A chinese-made kung fu movie that was re-credited to give the 2-bit thug role the top billing so people would want to see the movie. The actor? Chuck Norris, who was big at that time. Only thing is the movie was from his early days as a nobody playing 2-bit parts. A description of the crimes this movie committed would be too long I think.

Also walked out of "Blow" with Johnny Depp. How you're supposed to sympathise or in any way get behind the his character in the movie is beyond me.

I walked out of A Knight's Tale. I guess I was in a bad mood or something that night. The most embarrasing thing was that after I walked out of that movie, I snuck into Mummy 2. Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Cycler 10-29-2003 08:33 PM

Bringin' Down the House... no I did not pay to see it, it was playing at our campus theatre and I walked out about 30 minutes into it

InTeGrA77 12-17-2003 08:26 AM

I remember when I was younger...a lot younger, I was with a bunch of friends and we went to go and see Never Been Kissed, and during the banana scene when the condom snaps into the guys face, we all started laughing really really hard! I mean...we couldn't stop, and everyone was looking at us because we were so loud. My friends mom that we went with us had to drag us all out of there because we were "causing a scene." I also went to see The Southpark movie, and alls that I remember is the screen be overwhelmed with something huge and pink. My friend drove out of the drive-in lot almost instantly. Later we cracked up about it, and I saw the whole movie later, it was hilarious!

Jam 12-17-2003 11:13 AM

well theres this one scene on my van wilder dvd i skip... but i havent walked out of anymovie... and i want whoever made kung pow shot

InTeGrA77 12-17-2003 02:01 PM

I bet that the scene you skip is the part with the dog and the....donut like things that are filled with yummy goodness. I know, I can hardly stand it whenever I see it!

tooth 12-17-2003 02:32 PM

'Dick Tracy'
- twice.

Neither were technically walk-outs though. First time was at the drive-in, so it was more of a drive-off. Second time, it was on TV. I thought I would give it another shot, couldn't stand it. I might have made it through all of 15-30 minutes both times.

Most people were simply disappointed that there weren't more Matrix scenes (I.E. the first one) and most of the movie took place in the real world inside of Zion. I loved the movie.

NbCal 12-26-2003 12:55 AM

I have never walked out of a movie before, but I should have with Cold Creek Manor. I was really expecting a good movie with the cast (Sharon Stone, Dennis Quaid etc.), and the previews, but it has to be the single worst movie ever created.

I've never walked out of a movie.. unless you count when I worked at a movie theatre, and would constantly walk in and out of the theatres heh...
I almost walked out of Terminator 3 though.. that movie was just horrible.. the only reason I stayed was to see how much money they could save on set design, script, acting, etc and blow on destroying shit.... *rolling eyes

The first Harry Potter movie- the sound was so unbalanced and unneedlessly LOUD, especially when they were playing Quiddich that I was getting a migraine, and walked out.

I once walked out of Uptown Girl simply because I brought a ticket to watch that movie WITH captioning. The fuckin theater didn't even bother turning it on, so I simply got my money back and yelled at them.

Kung Pow enter the fist or something crazy like that. I am not sure but it was the stupidest movie ive ever seen or seen part of.

Because tom thought he could make 2 better then 1, and John Woo does good action :)

I choose the movies I see in the theater very carefully. I have left the second film at drive in theaters a few times but I don't think those should count :)

I wouldn't rate any of the movies that everyone here listed in my top ten but I did like most of them. Kung pow and ghost dog were decent on DVD, but I wouldn't see them in the theater, even for free.

I just watched The Order on dvd last night, I wanted to see it in the theater and if I had, I probably would have walked out. I tried to watch it and made it 15 minutes and turned it off, tried again and didn't make it as far, turned it on again and forced myself to watch it. I'll save the review for another day but it was pretty bad, and I like some pretty bad movies :)

Didn't walk out of the theater because I watched it at home on VHS, but I could not watch the Scooby Doo movie to the end and I loved the cartoon as a kid.

dreamcatcher...god awful

Oh man, I can't believe I forgot Cabin Fever. What a stupid, stupid movie.

I also wanted to walk out of 28 days later, after an hour the only scary part was when he set off the damn car alarm. People were like, what about the church!!? Come ON, if you didn't think zombies were gonna pop out and attack him, you shouldn't be watching horror flicks.

Agreed.

Batman 1 = excellent
Batman 2 = Ok
Batman 3 = suckage
Batman 4 = raw, pure, uncut suckage

And, oh yeah, I walked out on AI.

Got "Dude, where's my brain?" for christmas, gave it away without opening it if that counts.

Ashton Kutcher sucks.

Only two ever:

Howard the Duck
Little Shop of Horrors

I know many people love LSoH, but I was going to a movie to make out with my girlfriend, and singing plants do not help with the mood.
