No deep, hidden meaning here. Very little grose-out humor. This was light and fun. I enjoyed it. It was much better than I expected.

Dead Man - 4.5/5
This movie did seem to move a little slow at times, but Johnny Depp was very good in it and it had me laugh out loud a few times. A little too many 'fade to blacks' but nicely done.

The Dark Knight 9/10. About the best treatment of Batman, and more notably Gotham, Two Face and the Joker I can think of. The nice thing about the movie is that if you take away the special effects, this movie would work just as well as a crime/thriller story using a Hannibal Lector-type foil for the hero. Basically, it's a superhero/comic book movie that doesn't really need the superhero/supervillain.
Only concern is it is a bit long - could've easily been 20 minutes shorter. But that's a minor issue.

It was a good little movie but, like the first one, I feel like I'll forget it by the time the next one comes out.

X-Files: I want to Believe - 3/10 - This would have done well as a made for TV miniseries episode, but not on the big screen. The plot did not involve enough of the supernatural that the X-Files show or first movie cashed in on.

The Dark Knight (2008)
Like everyone else in the world, I have seen this movie and it is definitely a great movie. I'm so happy they left the dark look of the 1st movie and went for a more realistic Gotham. More daylight scenes. The Joker was pretty awesome as well... Actually all the acting in the movie was incredible. and I'm glad Katyholmes is gone. I actually thought that when Spoiler: the joker gets caught, the movie would end, but then we see the two-face beginning and so much more!!! This one tops the 1st on on every level! I don't know how they will be able to follow up this one. As a comic book movie, I have to give it a 10 out of 10 as a normal movie for everyone who hasn't seen the comicbooks or cartoon series, it is still a 9.5 out of 10 highly rated.

The Dark Knight - 10/10
Holy crap was this a good movie! I turned to my friend after and said "That was like the greatest movie I have ever seen", he turns back and says "my thoughts exactly". The Joker just gave me the chills every time he was on set, what a truly amazing job Heath did with him. I think that The Joker, as portrayed in this movie, is one of the best characters I have ever seen in film, easily. |

Yes, again. I can't recall the last time I paid to see a movie more than once. I wanted to see it at IMAX this but we don't have one less than an hour away. Maybe next week.

Jewels, I wanted to see it in IMAX, showed up 8 hours earlier and they were all sold out for the day! If you want to catch the IMAX you might have to prebuy tickets a few days early.
I am going to try and catch this movie again, but this time on IMAX. |

Hellboy 2 followed by The Dark Knight $15 for 3 people to see 4.5 hours of movies...what a deal. anyway, Hellboy 2 was pretty decent, but not as good as the first. (7/10) The Dark Knight was amazing (well, it was very good and Heath Ledger was amazing). (9/10)

X-Files: I want to believe-2/10
I want to believe is a terrible film. The actors did not have the connection they once did with their characters. The story was below average as everything related to this film. I was a fan of the TV series until Mulder was "abducted" by aliens and they tried replacing him with sub part actors who couldn't take over his part. They should have stopped after the first X-Files movie because it concluded rather well. This film is a mess. |

Knocked Up - 7.5/10
Nice little movie with some good humor... though I am sorta tired of seeing the same guys playing the same type of roles in like 5 different movies a year. Trainspotting - 10/10 632876th viewing. This movie was too good not to watch when I was just flipping through the channels. I'll always love it.

Wanted 6.5/10
Cool action, that is if you ignore the law of physics and lower your IQ down to room temperature. Some of the lines Morgan Freeman delivered was really awkward and his death is lame as well. I expect him to be more clever than that. Jolie was eh, I'm tired of her playing roles like this. Apparently, this is an adaptation of a comic book. I looked it up on wiki after watching the movie and found that the plot in the comic book is much more interesting.

This was round two. Saw it in the IMAX with an absolutely gorgeous woman. Only complaint I have is that some crazy lady sitting 2 over from me kept going "hmmmmm" really loudly all the fucking time! Amazing movie. I highly suggest seeing this in the IMAX if you can, its so much better. -----Added 1/8/2008 at 01 : 40 : 04----- Batman Begins - 10/10 Holy crap Batman!! I can't get enough. 11 years later and the bugs actually look WORSE than they did in the original film! It's only slightly better than the 2nd one. A few of the federation "commercials" were worth a slight grin but the rest of the movie was flat. Unlikable characters, stupid and predictable plot.. Meh..

In Bruges - two hitmen (Colin Farrell and Brendon Gleeson) are sent to Bruges (a historic town in Belgium) after a botched hit where one is tasked with killing the other. A few laughs, a bit of morality, a couple of twists. Not a bad little film.

Dark Knight - 9/10.
Absoloutly amazing, very dark and disturbing at times, Heath Ledger definatly deserves an oscar. Wall.E - 9.5/10 Even better, only reason it doesn't get a 10 is because i saw through the eco-mentalist stuff (which was slightly obvious at times), but otherwise visually stunning. You'll love the characters, and it really warms the heart. Its also quite a long animated film, at 103 minutes, so you get your tickets worth.

The Incredibles is very good, but doesn't hold a candle to Monsters, Inc. now THAT is a 10/10 flick.

Hancock - 7/10 It was great until about half way through where the story took a left turn out of no where and you go WTF? If they just kept going straight and used the rest of the story for a sequel, it would have been an awesome summer movie.

While this is no award winner by any means, I don't quite get the hate for it. The acting is pretty solid with only a few low points, the FX are decent, and the story is okay. Sure, it's all been done before and it doesn't resemble the original much at all, but it all ends up a mildly entertaining little horror movie. Oh, and it features Kelly Carlson's boobs.

This might be the best comedy I've seen in at least the past decade. It is absolutely hilarious. It's definitely a stoner kind of movie and is along the same line as Knocked Up. James Franco does an excellent stoner, and everyone else does a great job in this movie. The plot is fantastically funny. There aren't really any major plot twists or anything of that nature, so you probably know how the movie is going to end. But still, everything is very well done and is definitely worth a watch in theaters.

Just got home from seeing The Dark Knight, this has to be at least a 9/10 for me.
I really like the direction that the last two movies have taken the series. The first films were good movies, but you knew that it was a movie made about a comic book. These last two have made me feel like I am watching a movie that was written just to be this movie. I don't know if that makes any sense to anyone, maybe it is just hard for me to put how it felt. I'll get flamed for this one, but I don't know about the whole Ledger for "whatever" award, but he did play the role very well, a large change from the way Jack played it in the first movie.

If you can get past the camera work, the suspense alone caries this movie. I also had a fun time tracing the route they took through Manhattan by paying attention to milestones.

Dark Knight - 9.5 X-Files - 6.5 I think people were expecting way too much from the X-Files movie. They were pretty up-front when they publicized it that it was a "Monster of the Week" movie, and there would be no "mythology" revealed in it. Anyone expecting anything else clearly didn't read any of the pre-release press. I actually thought the choice of no fresh mythology was kind of a good idea: you'd have to be a pretty damn hard-core X-Phile to remember all that stuff now. I thought of it basically like a "Monster of the Week" episode of the show, but long, with a largish budget, and on a very big screen. As such, I thought it was very enjoyable. I thought the character work was just fine. The story was about on a par with any of the "Monster of the Week" episodes they did during the run of the show. Basically, I asked myself: "Would you go pay $12 to see a brand-new episode of X-Files on a very big screen?" I said yes. I wasn't disappointed.

Starship Troopers 3: Marauder - 6/10
Very entertaining film with a cruelly small budget. Considering what they were given to work with, I think that they did an admirable job. However, the FX were still awful in comparison with the 1997 original and many of the action scenes bore little to no charm. Pineapple Express - 7/10 I might have been expecting too much out of this. It just didn't reach the height of Knocked Up or Superbad. However, it was still hilarious and fun, so I give it my standard highly entertaining but relatively forgettable rating. You Kill Me - 7/10 See above rating. This was a very good movie that was both touching and funny. I highly recommend it.

Great movie, funniest action movie of the summer! This movie made me a fan of James Franco (never watched Freaks and Geeks but will now). Good pacing, lots more action than I expected, and that same Rogen/Apatow buddy relationship thing that always seems to work. |
