shrek 2: 8.5 / 10
remember the titans: 10 / 10 stigmata: 7 / 10 it's a mad, mad, mad, mad world: 8 / 10 happy gilmore: 6.5 / 10 billy madison: 6 / 10 black sheep: 7.5 / 10 |
Just saw Bruce Almighty on HBO, overall a good fun movie, one of Carey's best. 9/10
|
Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban, which I've written a lenghty post on in another thread. 10/10
|
ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND: I can't say anything about this movie that would do it justice, it's brilliant and perfect a definate 5 out of 5... I haven't cried in a movie since ROTK so this was very much welcome.
THE PUNISHER: I've always been a big fan of the comic, loved Frank Castle to death, though the film took some liberties with his origin the film felt like a Punisher comic and was pulled off very well. Sure some of the shots were poor and the story is age-old but it's Frank Castle so I loved it. |
Kill Bill Vol1: 7.3432/ 9.343
Funny as all hell. Was it supposed to be a comedy? Gothika: 5/10 Average predicatable horror film. Seabiscuit: 8/10 Good sappy film. A bit predictable. |
I tend to rate hard, only because I have some personal favorites that are 5/5 which is hard to achieve ;)
Shrek 2: 7.8/10 Great movie, tons of laughs Harry Potter/Azkaban: 8/10 Good movie. I've never read these books and didn't see the second film. Went for my girlfriend. I liked it. Great art direction. Bubba Ho-Tep: 7.8/10 Had high expectations for this. Very funny odd humor though. Jumped around too much for me though. |
Troy 8/10
great story, sean bean is my favorite actor, brad pitt was sexy as fuck (in a strictly hetero way) |
Master and Commander. It was a predictable film but I'm a big history buff and I enjoy Russell Crowe's acting. A very good 2.5 hour film.
|
Happy Gilmore 9/10
|
Along Came Polly... 7/10
I thought it was funny but I don't do embarassing comedies very well. I just get too embarassed for the characters! |
Big Fish...
thought it was good but I think Burton delved a bit too much into drama and romance and lost the edgy mystical hook he always has hung his hat on. |
High Plains Drifter...
Holy crap! This movie is so fucking basass! Not for everyone, but I fucking love it! God I love Westerns... |
Monster
Not sure how much I liked it. All I could really concentrate on was how horrible Charlize Theron looked. I guess it really made me appreciate the life I have. It was a good movie, but I don't think I'll ever see it again. |
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
I had read the book and was kind of disappointed with the lack of details... but then decided the movie would be hours and hours if all was included. Great special effects. 4/5 |
2001 a space oddysey: still a good flick. I can't believe this movie is this old. The effects are pretty damn good. Plus, it's soundtrack is very good.
American Wedding: decent. Nowhere near American Pie. |
Cabin Fever: 6/10
There are a few memorable moments in the movie but they're too far inbetween. Would have no desire to watch this again. "Everyone knows not to sit next to Dennis." |
Van Helsing: 5/10
Not enough action and too many lies. (horses jump bridge) |
The Rundown - 4/5
Some funny parts. |
RAW DEAL: Stupid movie but Arnold saves it 3/5
RED HEAT: See above HARRY POTTER 3: Little disappointed (was my favourite novel in the series) but had some excellent camera-work 3.5/5 |
Zatôichi: Cool martial arts swordplay, wit, and elements of Japanese dance. Great movie - I especially loved the surprising ending.
9/10 |
Monster 8/10
A really good movie, but disturbing as hell. Extra points for doing something I'd never thought possible. They managed to have a scene with Christina Ricci and Charlize Theron buck naked making out and it was disgusting. I feel so cheated. |
"Barely 18"
Very nice film, cinematography is wondeful. Acting is sufficient. Warning though... it gets a bit messy at the end. |
Salvadore,
Reminded me of why I want to dance on Rappin Ronnie Reagan's accursed grave. Brutal, violent, depressing, but that's what happens when people sponsor right wing death squads... |
Geurreros
It was nominated for an academy award for best foriegn film but I can't really tell why. Great cinematography and good performances, but the 'war is hell' message of the film was pretty cliché. Though, it was interesting to see a war movie on the Balkans War. 4/5 |
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
**** out of 5 Harry is growing up fast and with him, the movies are too. Just as this book intoduces darker themes, the movie and it's new director bring in darker and more adult themes. The story from the book is very intricate and book readers will no doubt be pissed that certain things are left out. Aside from that and a couple of long winded scenes, the movie is really great. Now bring on Goblet of Fire. |
Paycheck- 6.75/10
This movie really wasn't as good as I expected. I first figured it would suck when I heard it was a Ben Aflek/Uma Thurman film. Then I heard the story was done by Phillip K. Dick (Blade Runner...) and got excited. Then after seeing it, I realized it was simply a good story but a shitty movie still. Go figure... I hope this gets remade one day, it's got tons of potential. I just felt like it was holding my hand the entire time. Using no-name, unfamiliar actors alone would have increased the suspense that the it tried to achieve. Who cares if they'd have to cut the budget, the story would still carry itself if done correctly. |
Thirteen
8 out of 10. This was a damn good movie. The only reason it got an eight was I didn't like the way the camera moved around so much in some scenes. It worked in some instances, but the best thing about the movie was the acting. It was very emotional, and I really got into the movie. I'm sure not all 13 year olds act like this, but don't watch it thinking that it represents all of them. Evan Rachel Wood gives a HELL of a performance. |
Elephant
SPOILER sort of - unless you know what the movie is about, then it's not, not that it would spoil the movie I couldn't feel for the characters, there wasn't enough to them, I guess it was supposed to be a realistic as possible, but I cannot sympathize with characters that I have watched go through 20 minutes of their normal lives, and feeling for people is part of being involved in a a situation like the one portrayed, it didn't really put me there, like i think it was supposed to, i could come up with more indepth recreations in my own head, there just wasn't enough there for me to get into it watch bowling for columbine for the seconds of security cam footage from the actual columbine shooting, that is what this movie tries to be |
Saved
6 out of 7. Really funny, after having a lot of friends that all of a sudden became uber-conservative, it's scary how much this movie reminded me of them. It's not especially offensive, and really quite funny. A kind of different spin on the Teen Movie. Macaulay Culkin was actually pretty cool, Mandy Moore was cast perfectly, and Jena Malone just does it for me. |
Dodgeball: A Underdog Story
4.5 / 5 That movie had me laughing so many times I lost track, WELL worth the 6.50$ opening price! |
Torque
Rented it and watched it earlier today. Very bad movie and just glad that I wasn't the one who paid to rent it. |
I watched 28 Days Later tonight and found it a little urrgghh for my liking. Call me a wimp if you will.
4/10 |
Elle, you're a wimp!!
just kidding i saw Touching the Void this morning... ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. doco style, mind blowing cinematography... and what a story!! i've read two of Joe Simpsons books (including touching the void) and i have to say i really didn't like him (him, not his writing) very much... but this doco changes things significantly. as a guy who has climbed mountains (not quite in their league though mind you) this both terrified me... and inspired me... what an amazing story. 11/10. GO SEE IT!!! |
I just watched "The Killer" by John Woo. It was probably one his best films and I give it 8/10.
It was also good to see a young Chow Yun Fa- he rocks! |
last movie i watched was in the army now
8/10 what the fuck happened to pauly shores career though.. :O |
Yeah, Bundy....picture me flippin' the bird, baby. I cannot dig zombies, I don't care what you call them!
I took the kidlets to see Shrek 2 today. Laughed a lot. Thought Puss In Boots would be a bit nastier than he was, but it was still a riot. 8/10. |
A Few Good Men
Just saw it for the first time in it's entirety, a good movie, not a great one, but good. It was nice seeing the defense prepare their entire defense, and while there were a few minor technical errors the movie had everything you could possibly want in a movie. The best thing being, no huge over-the-top hollywood love story thrown in where it didn't belong. 8/10 Predator One of the greatest action/thriller movies of all-time in my opinion. Besides having one the greatest movie characters of all-time, the movie also maintains suspense by not even showing the Predator until almost halfway through the movie. 7/10 High Fidelity Not quite a top 5 movie, but Jack Black steals the show in his breakout movie. 7/10 |
Bad Santa -the R-rated version
I have no idea what could be in the un-rated version of this movie, cause they sure didn't pull any punches. Billy Bob is one messed up Santa, but damn was this movie funny. 9/10 -for volume and quality of laughs |
Quote:
The non unrated version is much better, funnier |
Saw Scarface on the weekend for the first time (not sure how this one slipped through the gaps for this long) top movie.
