School of Rock (possible spoilers)
 

Anyone else seen this? I thought it was pretty funny, although cheesy at a few parts (the ending) it was enjoyable, the characters were fun, and it may open some people's eyes to the world of rock and roll. :cool:

I just came from the theater. I was talking about how many kids would like this movie vs how many adults. I dont even think that kids would know any of these songs or bands mentioned in the movie.

Yeah, I haven't seen it, but Ebert said that the adults would probably like it better than the kids.

I watched it and I agree that adults might like it better because of the music. Personally I thought it was okay. I wouldn't go see it twice in theaters but I might rent it when it comes out.

Very good movie. Laugh many times.

it was a good movie with a few laughs. but throughout the movie i kept thinking, "this would never happen in real life".

i gotta stop over analyzing these movies.

I loved that movie, saw it at a screening before it came out and then saw it again opening night. Jack Black is the man.

Jack Black is funny, but can get annoying, however, I think is was a stroke of genius to pair him with the kids. It's their interaction that makes the movie.

Great light comedy, by the way. And that ending concert scene rocks. Kind of reminds me of the concert scene in Revenge of the Nerds.

After thinking about it I realised why I liked it better than I thought was that he was a lousy teacher. I was ready to be insulted that some guy could come off the street and be a great teacher with no previous desire, or training. But when I saw that he continually flubbed his teaching duties, except when it came to rock, i started to enjoy the movie.
Now I know that sounds weird, but I am a teacher. I would have been a bit insulted to see this movie turn into "loser becomes the greatest teacher" type of film.


And by the way, I have worked with teachers like Mr BLack, but before he became interested in teaching Rock.

holy hell that movie was funny. i liked how they worked in a sort of brief history of rock throughout it ... and it was actually accurate! :) and i love jack black, in my stereo or on my tv :P

Enjoyable buy not great. Both my kids liked it. The basic premise has been done MANY times before. If you like Jack Black, you'll like the movie!

I hate to say it because I love Jack Black's music (Tenacious D) But except for the music I thought this movie was dull. Sorry for any so offended.

Okay, so that scene made the movie. It was really good and I liked it... I didn't like the movie -nonetheless- but THAT scene was good.

Fairly amusing, but I probably won't by the DVD.
