I like both movies, but I prefer A Clockwork Orange.

PeaceFrog 12-15-2003 05:31 PM

I love both films, but A Clockwork Orange definitely gets my vote. It's my favorite of all time.

Kostya 12-15-2003 06:12 PM

I hate to have to use somebody else's opinion, but it's pretty much mine too. This is what Roger Ebert had to say about Fight Club:

Fincher is a good director (his work includes "Alien 3," one of the best-looking bad movies I have ever seen, and "Seven," the grisly and intelligent thriller). With "Fight Club" he seems to be setting himself some kind of a test--how far over the top can he go? The movie is visceral and hard-edged, with levels of irony and commentary above and below the action. If it had all continued in the vein explored in the first act, it might have become a great film. But the second act is pandering and the third is trickery, and whatever Fincher thinks the message is, that's not what most audience members will get. "Fight Club" is a thrill ride masquerading as philosophy--the kind of ride where some people puke and others can't wait to get on again.

A Clockwork Orange is a masterpiece, Fight Club is entertaining and mildly provoking fluff.

I may be alone on this, but i hate Clcokwork Orange with a passion. The whole movie just "erks" me.

Fight CLub however is one of my all time favorite movies.

Yea I know im odd.

Cycler 12-15-2003 06:56 PM

Both are good films I liked them both but for different reason and neither could be rated above the other at least in my book err um viewing, shrugs<p>I got mothing...

more fire 12-16-2003 07:25 AM

fight club, definately.
a clockwork orange is over-rated

sailor 12-16-2003 07:30 AM

I dont think you can really compare them. They are two totally different animals.

orphen 12-16-2003 07:36 AM

it's a hard choice but i really like fight club

31Friction 12-16-2003 12:41 PM

a clockwork orange gets my vote...

sadatx 12-17-2003 01:47 AM

A Clockwork Orange

I don't think it's the masterpiece some critics make it out to be, but it's a better movie than Fight Club (which I liked). There's no contest.

I baffled as to why fight club is winning. I think it just proves that this board skews young.

eotlemac 12-17-2003 04:13 AM

they both pwned it their own respects......

"singing in the rain"

"is that blood on your shirt?"

hotzot 12-17-2003 07:48 AM

Anybody who picks Fight club over a Clockwork Orange should be tolchocked and knived on their plot.

Evil Milkman 12-17-2003 10:02 AM

Fight Club, but I've yet to see "A Clockwork Orange". It's on my 'Movies To See' list, though. I can't wait.

Astrocloud 02-06-2004 06:49 PM

I got the idea for this thread because there was a period of time that I didn't have TV. My roommate went through this phase where he would watch Fight Club over and over again. It didn't really bother me because I used to do the same thing with Clockwork Orange about 12 years ago.

I am completely undecided as to which one is better but judging from your poll results... I should play Fight Club before Clockwork. At least I should play it like this for random people whom I want to entertain.

I wish I could cross check and see if more women than men liked one movie or the other...

I don't know how this factors into the poll, but...

The idea of somebody watching A Clockwork Orange over and over again disturbs me much more than the idea of somebody watching Fight Club over and over agagin.

ToolBag 02-06-2004 08:34 PM

I think fight club was more of a mindfuk than CWOrange, but the truth of CWO really got to me. I think a lot of people become so immuned to stuff that its 2nd nature to them.

Dilbert1234567 02-07-2004 12:39 PM

I loved fight club, I watched it twice in a row to make sure i got it all, clock work orange is still to be watched, its on my list (very long list)

I will comment further one I watch it, hell ill watch it now.

lucidity 02-07-2004 05:20 PM

I'm a fight club girl all the way. I love man boobs. ;)

heccubusiv 02-07-2004 08:01 PM

i like them both equally... but since fight club has all of this hidden parts in the film it got the vote

djflish 02-08-2004 08:09 AM

I'd have to vote Fight Club cos i've never seen A Clockwork Orange.
I have seen A Clockwork Orgy though....

Dilbert1234567 02-08-2004 12:28 PM

they are both great, i like fight club better but clockwork orange is very good.

kurtisj 02-09-2004 08:37 PM

Even though i have only seen fight club, i love that movie so i think it would be hard for clockwork orange to beat that.

My exact thought when i read the question.

Classic.....can't touch it.

Fight Club no doubt. Clockwork Orange just didn't do it for me.
Had the question been fight club vs Clockwork Orgy the answer may have been different.

nanofever 02-10-2004 08:16 PM

I had to vote for a little bit of the old ultra violence.

powerclown 02-10-2004 08:35 PM

Wittle Allwex all the way. FC doesnt even come close imo.

A Clockwork Orange is by far better than Fight Club in my opinion. I didn't even like Fight Club.

Vales419 02-11-2004 03:45 PM

Clockwork Orange by far. Yes, Fight club is a good movie, but as stated by one of the above posters, this is like comparing Apples and Oranges or golf and Football, there not even in same fucking league.

For those of you that has not seen Dr. Strangelove, it is one of his best. CHECK IT OUT!!

V.

xim 02-12-2004 11:07 PM

Well fightclub is the best movie ever and clockwork orange sucks.

Anthony burgasses book clockwork orange is amazing, but I think the movie just drug on forever.

kinsaj 02-12-2004 11:15 PM

love them both!

Colonel Quack 02-14-2004 07:08 PM

I've seen Clockwork Orange. I think it's a horrible movie. I simply don't see what's so great about it. Utterly mindless.

Amusingly, I've watched Fight Club repetitively, and I notice new things each time. So.. *shrugs* I'm a little bias, aren't I now?

I don't think I've ever read a comment on TFP I disagree with more. I've seen Fight Club lots of times, and it grabs me every time. There are so many levels to it. And, although you can make excuses for it, a lot of A Clockwork Orange is very corny.

I really like A Clockwork Orange, but I feel its message is less contemporary than Fight Club. Plus Fight Club addresses questions which are extremely close to my heart. And, to reiterate something stated above, it's easy to lose the thread of A Clockwork Orange beneath the patina of pretentious language.

Harshaw 02-16-2004 04:23 PM

I'm going with Fight Club. The main reason I liked Fight club better was the "Single Serving Coffee, Single Serving Cream" part. I just love the timing and the beat of the part.

Well said, I totally agree. Fight Club changed my life. Clockwork Orange was a good movie.

bacon_masta 02-19-2004 10:38 PM

i can't believe there even has to be a poll! both are amazing films, and cult classics, but i have to go with a clockwork orange every time. i mean, talk about groundbreaking ideas!
