Scary Movie 3 - I highly recommend it!!
I saw Scary Movie 3 last week in a preview showing at one of the local theaters. All I can say is that this movie is a pisser! I laughed out loud many times during this movie. I usually don't laugh out loud in many movies but this one is different. Its just plain hilarious!! Judging by the audiences reactions, they also really liked it. The cast is incredible (read below). Its written by Kevin Smith, directed by David Zucker (he directed Airplane and the Naked Gun movies). And the Wayan Brothers are not involved! Yay!!
They take shots at the latest block-busters, "The Ring", "Signs", "Matrix Reloaded", "The Hulk", "Eight Mile", "The Others” and more, as well as pop culture trends such as "American Idol". I'm not going to give anything specific away but I have to say that there is a Michael Jackson spoof that will have you rolling in the aisles!! The first Scary Movie was OK. The second Scary Movie sucked but this one is the best by far!! This movie is a must see!! No, I'm not being paid by the studio!! Glad From ComingSoon.net: Release Date: October 24, 2003 Studio: Dimension Films Director: David Zucker Screenwriter: Kevin Smith, Pat Proft, Brian Lynch, Craig Mazin Starring: Anna Faris, Charlie Sheen, Anthony Anderson, Pamela Anderson, Peter Boyle, George Carlin, Fat Joe, William Forsythe, Macy Gray, Eddie Griffin, Regina Hall, Darrell Hammond, Ja Rule, Jenny McCarthy, Camryn Manheim, Leslie Nielsen, Jeremy Piven, Denise Richards, Simon Rex, Timothy Stack, Method Man, Redman, Macy Gray, Master P., Ja Rule, D.L. Hughley, Wu Tang Clan and The Coors Twins Plot Summary: Be warned. From the director of the 'Airplane!' comes the hilarious third instalment of the Scary Movie franchise. Now out of College, the hapless Cindy Campbell is a TV News Anchorwoman. Within a matter of days, Cindy is summoned to investigate the mysterious crop circles on Tom Logan's farm, and uncover the eerie secret behind the death of a close friend. Whilst on her journey, Cindy meets Orpheus, who explains to her that she is "The One" and prophecizes that she must help the President of the United States in preventing a full scale alien invasion. From EmpireMovies.com: The cast of Scary Movie 3 includes Charlie Sheen as the aliens-attracting farmer Tom and Denise Richards as his hapless wife Annie; Eddie Griffin as the prophetic Orpheus and Queen Latifah as his very un-Matrixy wife Laquisha; Pamela Anderson and Jenny McCarthy as Catholic School Girls; Leslie Nielsen as the President of The United States; Simon Rex as rap-star wannabe George; Jeremy Piven as reporter Ross Giggins; Camryn Manheim as the formidable Trooper Champlin; Anna Faris as eager anchorwoman Cindy Campbell; Regina Hall as eerie school teacher Brenda Meeks; William Forsythe as The Glench; Anthony Anderson as rap promoter Mahalik; as well as George Carlin. Fat Joe, Simon Cowell, Method Man, Redman, Macy Gray, Master P., Ja Rule, D.L. Hughley, Wu Tang Clan and The Coors Twins.

Wayans brothers not involved, Kevin Smith as writer, Pam and Jenny as schoolgirls...
i don't see how this movie could do anything but kick ass.

Just as much as I loved the first Scary Movie, I hated the second one. And after watching the trailers for this one, I'm not expecting much out of it - which may actually be a good thing!

I couldn't believe it when i heard they were making scary movie 3, but i have to admit, it sounds like it has a lot going for it.
Was the script written just by KS, or did he write it with someone else?

Actually i haven't seen any of the scary movie movies. But if Kevin Smith is involved in Scary Movie 3, it should kick ass.

It's also rated PG-13. The fact that there will be stupid teens in the back going "hehe, they said tit" is enough to keep me away.

The first and second Scary Movie(s) were amusing...I wouldn't say "good" or even "funny" but certainly...diverting. It's something to do. So I'll probably see the third at some point, although I won't be breaking down the doors to the box office.

I hated the second one. If I hadn't been there with friends who were loving all the "oh my god dude I can't believe they said/showed that!" stuff I'd have left in the middle of it.
But the previews for this one look hilarious "You'll never get me alive!"

I absolutely hate the first two, and when I saw the ad for the third, I was a little shocked that some of the material actually seemed... funny. I'm glad the series is in different hands, that won't stoop to penis and weed jokes every 30 seconds like the Wayans-eses did. Going to see it...

Here is a review by The New York Times:
2003 - USA - Comedy, SciFi Reviewed by Stephen Holden The New York Times Release Date: October 24, 2003 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Starring Charlie Sheen, Anna Faris. Directed by David Zucker. (PG13 ). The third installment of the comedy franchise whose jokes derive largely from references to recent hit films has been given a shot of adrenaline by David Zucker, who pioneered the genre with "Airplane," and who has taken over the creative reins from the Wayans brothers. Most of the spoofing is at the expense of movies like "Signs," "The Ring" and the first two "Matrix" movies. The funniest sequence in a comedy that revels in knockabout farce and has the attention span of a hyperactive child is a strenuous group effort to revive a corpse, first through some alarmingly aggressive artificial respiration, then through slapping and slamming the body until it breaks apart. Think of "Scary Movie 3" as an accelerated junk culture vaudeville with a Mad Magazine sensibility. — Stephen Holden

*WARNING: DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS "FILM"
I cannot believe some of you found it even remotely funny. Makes me highly question other reviews on this board after seeing the reaction here to this god aweful movie. I forced any sort of smile that was on my face during this 90 minute waste of my life. Better then the first 2? They are all crap! I want my money back and somebody needs to shoot whoever is involved with this movie so that there will never be a part 4. Last edited by Plan9Senior; 10-27-2003 at 10:54 AM.. |

That's your opinion but the movie grossed 48 million this weekend. I guess more than a few people wanted to see it. E online gave it a B- rating and the audience rated it as a B. So I wasn't completely wrong. I really enjoyed this movie. Maybe its not your cup of tea but thats OK by me. Actually Scary Movie 4 has already been filmed!! It spoofs Spiderman, The Hulk and a few others. http://eonline.com/Facts/Movies/0,60,88267,00.html Glad

All the people that i saw who were waiting in line to watch it were 13 year old kids and stupid people. It seriously looked like crap from the begining, 6 friends of mine who each saw it seperately with a group of people said everybody in their group hated it and several walked out of the movie. According to them, lots of people walked out before them which gave them the idea. I plan on not watching this horrid piece of shit.
The people a little bit in front of us in line asked the person selling tickets if it was any good, and the guy said dont waste your money, but took their money anyways. I thought the ticket sellers were required to say a movie was good even if it blew chunks but i guess Scary Movie 3 was so bad that the kid couldnt hold it back.

Yeah... I laughed a LOT... got the first 2 on DVD and this one is probably the best (although the first one had some moments...).

I found this one a lot better than the second one which was just awful. And just a little better than 1 because there was no dicks randomly appearing. I found it really funny, comparable to the classics like Naked Gun, Robin Hood:Men in Tights, Jim Carrey Movies, Super Troopers, Mel Brooks Movies, and the Family Guy Humor.

The only funny content in that movie was in the trailer and previews. If you saw them, that's basically all the humor you'll see. Don't waste your money on the rest because it's just awkward crap that will have you giving facial expressions to friends of "Sorry, it looked funny in the previews."
And yes you probably found the Michael Jackson thing funny but that's about as funny as it gets. The rest is just discomforting like the second movie.
