About Contact (the movie)
Okay I tried a search for this and I didn't see anything right away, so I hope this isn't a repeat. I was just watching the movie Contact again on TV, and I was reminded how good of a flick it is until the end... when it just falls apart in lameness. I remember somebody once telling me that the ending in the book was way different. I was just wondering if anyone knows about the concluding differences and if you could let me know! Thanks.

I enjoyed the ending, unlike the people on South Park. However, in the novel it's not just one American that goes out into Space it's a bunch of representatives from around the world which makes a LOT more sense, but hey, it's a movie, and they wanted it to be more personal for Jodie Fosters character.
Brilliant movie, brilliant novel. |

I own the book but haven't read it yet. I read Demon Haunted World instead....
I've seen the movie countless times. I liked the ending which seemed to imply the disparity between the subjective personal experience and the objectively viewed reality. Whatever. I am completely annoyed by the religious-freak, mullet-boy character as portrayed by Matthew McConnaughey in the movie. What made it a hundred times grosser is that he made out with a cool nontheist chick (Jodie Foster). Ew, Gross: |
