My personal favorite has got to be G. Harvey, it's simple meaningfull and looks like it could have been a picture taken at any time a century ago.

This painting has recently been cleaned and is brilliant and vivid in colors you wouldn't have guessed were available when it was painted. (It's at the Prado in Madrid.)

I just saw it and was blown away. It's part of a triptych, that makes up garden of delights. Absolutely amazing. If you are in Madrid, see this.

I found this artist on the web and was fascinated by her work. Her name is Jean Chin. These little paintings sell for only $80 a pop:

I've really started to get into Philip Guston. Can't explain why without standing in front of one of his paintings. Great one at the Met, another couple great ones at MoMA. What I really love is his later figurative stuff.
