so... Quicksilver came out today...
My professor (who fricking rocks) in my Internet and Hollywood class (which rocks even harder) told me not only that Quicksilver came out today but that Neal Stephenson himself is coming to my campus on the second of October to autograph his books (swoon)
So I get to go back and get him to autograph: Quicksilver Snow Crash The Diamond Age and if I can find a copy "Cryptonomicon" that one Off to reading...

Hey, you are missing Big U. Of course, he might not want to sign that one...
... oh yeah, and "In the Beginning was the Command Line". Quicksilver is on order for me right now... I just need to find the time for another 900 pages.

I am about 100 pages into the book. Interesting but nothing exciting has happened yet. Hopefully he wont take 900 pages just to set the whole story up!

He also wrote a book called Zodiac - sort of an "enviro-thriller". Not as cool as the others, but a good read nonetheless. Snow Crash and Cryptonomicon are two of my favorite books though, and Quicksilver has been shaping up pretty well. I know what you guys are saying about nothing happening, but somehow his writing is so interesting to me. What a smart dude!

yeah... i've read all of his except in the beginning... - too deep into the geek life for me. i'm just starting quicksilver, and it has promise, i'm just trying to get over the continuous historical namedropping... give me another week or so and i should be into this book full swing. i'm excited for the next two already.
i'm also a lil pissed that he can't find it in his heart to come to arizona, especially with the stellar weather we've been having lately. o-well.

Hey - I just finished The Confusion (book 2 of the Baroque Cycle). It was damn good - even better than Quicksilver. I'm gonna be so sad when I finish The System of the World (book 3, which comes out in September I think). Waiting for the next release is like saying goodbye to your friends for a couple of months!

Ah, I wish he was coming to my campus. I just finished Cryptonomicon and man, it was a great book although it took me a while to get really into it. I'm going to have to pick up Quicksilver.

Zodiac wasn't bad at all...
I too am a big fan of Stephenson's work... like many, Snow Crash just blew my mind when I first read it. I just re-read it a month ago it really hold up well given all that has happened since he first wrote it.
