Eddie Izzard

came to Denver tonight. Had never seen him before but I laughed my ass off. This guy rules.

LaZy 09-22-2003 11:20 PM

Get a copy of his HBO comedy special "Dressed to Kill". I've seen it at least 10 times and I laugh my ass off every time. Hilarious guy.

Fremen 09-22-2003 11:41 PM

You are correct, LaZy and docbungle. Eddie is hilarious. :D

The dvd is entitled "Eddie Izzard: Dress to Kill", btw. :)

I love Dress to Kill, actually I just love any sort of comedy from Eddie Izzard. Two of my friends went to see him. I can't wait until they get back so they can tell me all about it.

grayman 09-23-2003 05:52 AM

I just stumbled across "Dress to Kill" one night on HBO and laughed til I cried. He is an extremely funny man. Anyone who can segue from the Holy Trinity to Scooby-doo flawlessly like he does deserves much more credit than he gets.

Derwood 09-23-2003 06:00 AM

He is the first comedian I have seen in years that has that "Monty Python" type sense of humor. Hard to explain, but you could definitely see him on that show had he been born 20 years earlier.

He was actually on a reunion that MP had. It was hysterical watching him trying to pretend he was a part of the cast, then watching the rest of the guys run him off stage. And "Dressed to Kill" was extremely funny.

Daval 09-23-2003 07:17 AM

When I was living in Europe I used to watch Eddie Izzard for years. He is a great comedian with an amazingly quick wit.

Any brits remember seeing him on 'Have I got News for You'?

He was brilliant :)

archer2371 09-23-2003 12:33 PM

You there! Cake or death?
Ummm, I'll have the cake please.
Allright then, we shall give him cake.
You there! Cake or death?
Cake please.
Well, we're out of cake.
So my choice is or death??
Yes.
Well, then I'll have the cake then.

Mr. Mojo 09-23-2003 01:03 PM

"Do you have a flag?!"

World's King 09-23-2003 02:01 PM

He was in Denver and I missed it... fuck

Why didn't you tell me?

Le chat est sous la branche

LaZy 09-23-2003 10:35 PM

does he have anymore comedy specials out other than dressed to kill?

"I have to go now because my grandmother is on fire"

arcane 09-23-2003 11:56 PM

"Ich bin ein Berliner"
"whassat did he just call himself a donut?"
"of course...he's an american....he's a donut"

Jdoe 09-24-2003 12:48 PM

Absolutely love him! I've been trying to find Glorius for a while, with no luck. I'm hoping they re-release it soon. Doesn't he have a new DVD coming out this month?

Jdoe

HeAtHeN 09-24-2003 12:49 PM

Eddie is great... glad he's getting some run over this side of the pond now.

holtmate 09-24-2003 09:32 PM

Eddie just released Circle on DVD and CD Tuesday...they're definitely on my list!

trench 09-25-2003 10:41 PM

You can't just walk out on to the moon and say "It's all sticky".

rogue49 09-26-2003 04:12 AM

We say "Herb"
because there's a FUCKIN' "h" in it.

Hilarious, just fuckin' hilarious.

crow_daw 09-27-2003 06:49 PM

I got the Dressed to Kill audio file on my computer and theres no telling how many times I've listened to it in its entirety, and it never gets old.

"And Hitler was a vegetarian painter. Yeah its true, he must've just been like,"Ugh, I can't get the fuckin trees........OH I WILL KILL EVERYONE IN THE WORLD!"

little limey 09-28-2003 08:56 AM

He's so great because he's just like a kid playing with words and ideas. You can always tell when he's trying to think of his next bit because he says "so, yea...." and in his France act he says "sooo.... wi." (or however you spell the french version of yes)

Miserlou 09-28-2003 06:09 PM

"The Death Star is full of British actors opening doors and going

'Oh Im goin.....oh....eh...............oh.'

'What is it lieutenant Sabastion?'

'Its the rebels, sir.........................their here.'

'MY GOD MAN! Do they want tea?'

'No, i think Its something more than that, I don't know what it is but they brought a flag' "

rogue49 09-28-2003 06:13 PM

I thought it was brillant that he did an encore
with a whole routine again in French.

And even if you didn't know French, you knew what he was saying,
just by him going through the same motions and inflections.

Exodus 09-29-2003 12:28 PM

JimmyTheHutt actually turned me on to Eddie Izzard about a year ago. He is hilarious. Ive probably seen Dressed To Kill 10 times or so and I still laugh like it was my first. The putting babies on spikes bit was the best.

frankx 09-29-2003 04:16 PM

I was listening to his Death Star Canteen bit and almost wrecked my damn truck from laughing!!!

Spinach_Indeed 09-29-2003 04:22 PM

I love his facial expressions while he talks. Seeing him rather than just hearing him brings up the comedy at least 20%

"Did I leave this gas on.....No, wait! I'm a fucking squirrel!"

Lord Humungus 10-01-2003 11:06 AM

I just saw Eddie Izzard's show Sexie! It was hilarious! He was at the Wiltern in Hollywood. It was mine and my wifes anniversary gifts to eachother. He or..should I say...She.....nah...He....is a comedic genius. Dressed to Kill is amazing. I totally recommend anyone to get it. Can't wait for Sexie to come out on DVD so I can get it and see it again!

ps..... he has tits now! WooHoo!

wry1 10-01-2003 10:28 PM

Gotta' love that Eddie!

He's in the top 3 of my favorite comedians to watch (#1: George Carlin - sorry, but there's a reason why he's had more HBO comedy specials - not to mention hosted the first episode of Saturday Night Live and the first HBO Special Presentation - than anyone else ever....#2: Robin Williams. His Live on Broadway is one of the funniest things I've watched in years!....and then #3: Eddie Izzard. Can't say enough great things about that one, so I won't. Wouldn't do the bloke justice, if you ask me).

I'll have to keep an eye open for him to play within 500 miles of me (that's 800km for you metrically-inclined TFP'ers) and I'll be there. Yep, Eddie anywhere near me, and Carlin in Vegas....those two are what's left on my current Comedy To-Do List.

K-Wise 10-01-2003 11:11 PM

My favorite parts were probably when he was telling everyone about their history and he was like "You have no idea what I'm talking about do you?" then the other part about Englebert Humperdink or however you spell it where he kept saying he wasn't dead but then saying he was.

No...Mature ejaculation...Veteran ejaculation....Wise olded man ejaculation!

Too many funny parts to list em all. The thing was hilarious from begining to end.

You need to hook it up then haha. Too bad I probably can't listen to it cause I got a fuckin Mac but try anyway. All the info's in the profile.

Asta!!

ShaniFaye 10-02-2003 03:35 AM

I am so jealous of anyone that gets to go see the new show, he's not coming anywhere near Atlanta (I think the closest is D.C.)

if you havent seen it this is a really great site FULL of soundbites from all his stand up

http://www.quoi.freeservers.com

one of my faves....Two hundred miles in this day and age? I don’t even know where I live now!

or

I grew up in Europe, where the history comes from.

Daval 10-02-2003 09:49 AM

Eddie is coming to Toronto on October 31st and November 1st.

I checked Ticketmaster and it couldn't find tickets :( :( :(

Macheath 10-02-2003 12:17 PM

I was watching him on TV the other night. He's got great material and performs it really well - makes it look so easy.

Fremen 11-16-2003 11:31 PM

Eddie Izzard: Dress to Kill is on HBO right now!
It started at 1:25 a.m. CST.

Get it while he's hot!

portwineboy 11-18-2003 10:05 PM

Eddie Izzard is up for being the next Dr. Who. I think he would do a fine job. He is brilliant.

wrongfullyaccuzd 11-18-2003 11:50 PM

dressed to kill, dressed to circle...this guy's hilarious

JoenOcoee 11-19-2003 04:43 AM

There's just something beautiful about a guy in a dress talking about putting babies on spikes.
