Desperado
 

I have seen the movie two times now and the second time was just the other day. I noticed something the other day at the end that I guess I just missed the first time around. What exactly happened at the end? He went to his brother and he starts shooting at him and then it fades to white and he is in the hospital talking to the kid. What happened there? Did he die and the last bit was one of those death dream sequences? Of course then Once upon in Mexico wouldn't make much sense, but they are written by different people so it could have just been a mix up. Someone please let me know in the nicest, and fastest, way possible.

Have you seen El Mariatchi?
It was rodriguez's (sp?) first film, and a prequel to Desperado.
I can't remember Desperado exactly, but I think the answer to your question may be that the scene in question is a flash back to El Mariatchi.

They were written by the same guy... Robert Rodriguez.

And "Mexico" is not a sequal... it's a sequal/remake... just like "Desperado" was a sequal/remake of "El Mariachi".

I thought El Mariachi was a sequel to Desperado, but I didnt really look into it. Now I have to see El Mariachi and it better make the end to Desperado make sense or I am going to come back here and bitch like a little school girl...To be continued...

Once Upon a Time in Mexico is a sequel, not a remake of anything. It is a horrible film that doesn't hold a candle to the other two.

No, desperado is definately a sequel....just a very similar sequel! Kinda link Escape From New Yourk/Escape from L.A.

The lead character has the busted up hand which he recieved at the end of El Mariatchi.

Desperado is one of my favourite movies. i watch it like all the time. El Mariachi kills his brother and finallises his quest for vengence which is why he can throw his guns away at the end. He goes back to pick them up because he kills the bad guy at the end of El Mariachi but he isnt the major bad guy. Which means more people can come after him. Remember His brother was freaking out because his boss might kill him. While he had enough of vengence because he had to look into the mirror of his anger (his brother) he did know that others might still hunt him.

Desperado is the sequal to El Mariachi. El Mariachi is about the main character getting mistaken for a murderer. He is on the run. he doesnt want to hurt anyone. This Bar wench hides him and they fall in love. At the end the bad dudes shoot her and his hand (a scene at the beginning of desperado to make the plot make sense), he goes mental and kills them. In desperado he becomes the hunter and is desperate for vengence. The crime organisation killed his love and destroyed his life (Couldnt be a mariachi anymore). In El Mariachi he says at the beginning that his father and his fathers father were all mariachi's. All he wanted to be was a mariachi but it was hard because of modern technology taking the art and the respect out of the profession. He just wants to be a mariachi and cant because his hand gets shot up. This comes out more in Desperado when he is teaching the kid to play the guitar and has heaps of trouble using his left hand. I have no idea why people have thought it is a remake. It has the same main character and similar bad dudes but that comes with all sequals. I havent seen Once Upon a Time in Mexico but Im looking forward to it

Once Upon a Time in Mexico was okay. A little over the top on the gore department. Too much Johnny Depp and not enough of Salma.

El Mariachi is a good movie.

I love trying to pick out the actors that are in ALL of his movies (from Desparado to Dusk till Dawn to Spy Kids)
Seems as if he has a little family that he makes movies with.
