Tombstone

Just got finished watching this movie this again. At the moment I can't think of a better movie. Val Kilmer gives the performance of a lifetime. If you haven't seen this movie stop whatever you are doing even if you are giving birth, performing openheart surgery, etc and see this movie.

docbungle 09-05-2003 08:23 PM

Not in my top ten but definitely a great "modern" western, meaning it is more action than plot driven. But, yes, I like Kilmer a lot in this movie, also.

cowlick 09-05-2003 09:22 PM

I'll be your huckleberry...

Splice 09-05-2003 11:36 PM

Yup, I wanted to be a cowboy after watching this movie. Great story, fantastic cast of actors. Val Kilmer was great as Doc Holliday. :)

"Wyatt Earp is my friend."
Brings a tear to the eye.

Mitzkrieg 09-06-2003 01:09 AM

"well, you gonna do something or just stand there and bleed?"

woot!

Asshole Lover 09-06-2003 06:55 AM

clint eastwood's unforgiven was much better

Kyp 09-06-2003 11:10 AM

Definently one of the best Westerns I've ever seen. Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday just flat out rocks.

"Nobody move!"
"Nonsense, by all means, move."

"If I see a red sash, I'm gonna shoot the man wearing it."

punkgrl1984 09-08-2003 08:40 AM

Love love love love love tis movie!!!!!!!!

eris 09-08-2003 02:42 PM

This effectively captures the speghetti feel that I look for in this genre. Though I have to agree with Asshole Lover above that Unforgiven is a much better film.

Nikilidstrom 09-08-2003 04:00 PM

If there is any doubt about the superiority of this film, just watch the movie Wyatt Earp, and see how piss poor the same subject matter can be presented. Val Kilmers performance rivals that of Daniel Day Lewis in Gangs of New York, and Kurt Russell tops Kevin Costner in every way in the same role of Wyatt. Hell, if you through in Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef, there wouldn't be a better western ever made. No offense to anyone, but Unforgiven was a snooze-fest saved only by a powerful performance by Eastwood.

Locke 09-08-2003 05:12 PM

A most excellent movie. Probably my favorite western.

tj2001cobra 09-09-2003 01:26 PM

I love Tombstone. I will watch it everytime I see that it is on TV. One of my favorite westerns of all time.

spectre 09-09-2003 02:34 PM

I hate all westerns except for this one. This movie was awesome.

Kyp's Girl 11-22-2003 12:52 PM

"Say When"

Baldrick 11-22-2003 04:29 PM

Definitely not one of my favorite movies, but still alot of fun to watch! It's been a long time since I've seen it, I may have to pop it in the DVD player tonight. :)

phukraut 11-22-2003 05:03 PM

good movie, but not better than The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

Plan9Senior 11-22-2003 05:25 PM

"You know Ed, if I thought you weren't my friend, I just don't think I could bear it. "

Bomb ass movie :)

Esen 11-22-2003 06:15 PM

Incredible movie,

but i must disagree that Val's performance rivals Daniel day Lewis in Gangs of New York,
That is inho the best performance of any lifetime.

But yea tombstome was a great movie and Val Kilmer's 2nd greatest role.
He was amazing as Jim Morrison in the Doors.

GakFace 11-23-2003 12:37 AM

Doc Holliday: Oh. Johnny, I apologize; I forgot you were there. You may go now.

Doc Holliday: Why Ike, whatever do you mean? Maybe poker's just not your game. I know! Let's have a spelling contest!

Heh, this movie is simply awesome.

Heck I think I'll pop the DVD in right now! :)

brandon11983 11-24-2003 10:19 AM

Billy (to Doc): You're so drunk, you can't hit nothin'. In fact, I bet you're probably seein' double...

Doc: I got 2 guns, one for each of 'ya.

Batman976 11-24-2003 12:18 PM

Hahaha... now that's a good one. I think I might have to join you guys in popping in the DVD tonight.

Sion 11-24-2003 02:20 PM

Tombstone is a great flick, definitely the best treatment of the Wyatt Earp story, utterly blowing away Costner's.

I wouldnt call it the best western or anything, but it was VERY entertaining.

Kilmer as Doc Holliday was fucking outstanding.

Esoteric 11-24-2003 05:54 PM

Great movie, Val Kilmer did a great performance as Doc Holliday.

JoenOcoee 11-24-2003 09:15 PM

"You're a daisy if you do."

Is Tombstone Billy Bob Thorton's first major movie?

Doc Holliday makes me proud to be a Georgian.:D

Batman976 11-24-2003 11:53 PM

I stayed true to my word and watched it tonight. It's still freaking awesome. It's been so long since I've seen it. It was good to finally watch it again.

Sion 11-27-2003 01:49 AM

ironchefkorea 11-28-2003 10:55 AM

I loved Kilmer as Doc Holiday...when I saw Depp's performance in Pirates of the Caribbean I was kind of reminded of it.

Chilly McFreeze 12-01-2003 12:24 PM

Very underated movie, I myself had forgotton about it, but reading this thread has brought back some good memories of it.

He's the guy in the upscale saloon that the customers were afraid to go into. Wyatt slaps him and tells him to leave. He comes back after Wyatt with the shotgun not long after.

Laladien 12-02-2003 12:28 AM

Funny enough, I decided to get my wife to watch Tombstone, which is easily one of my favorite films. She isn't a huge fan of westerns and westerns-influenced films, but she really enjoyed Tombstone. How can you not? Val Kilmer's performance was nothing short of brilliant and the film never loses its pace!
