Series 7: The Contenders
Are you a sick morbid fuck like me? GO OUT AND RENT THIS MOVIE!
I have been looking for this movie online for a couple years, to no avail, when this Saturday I was hanging out with my best friend in Blockbuster. He was looking in the Sundance section while I was looking the other way at new releases, and be brought up the movie SLC Punk... I said, "When I think of that movie, I'm also reminded of Series 7, because they are two movies recommended by Geekling. I've never been able to find it, but I HAVE to see it." The next moment he goes, "Woah.. here it is!" Yeah, it was right behind me. Anyways, onto the movie. It's a reality show. 6 random contenders are given weapons. The rules are simple. Be the last one alive. I think that's really all I need to say. Go out and rent this brilliant film! My friend and I were dying of laughter, cheering on the contenders and really fucking enjoying this work of art. Seeeeee iiiiit!

That sounds great, when was it released?
Have you ever seen the Japanese movie Battle Royale? Its the same concept but with high schoolers.

BR2 is finished and has been released in JP. But every report I have read (there are a couple on Aint it cool news) says it sucks I loved the first one. Series 7 is a bit different in that it's more of a dark comedy than BR, but it's a great movie. I saw it in the theater. Laughed my ass off. |

A very well-made film about the idiocy of reality television. I think the director is a genius. However, a Stanley Kubrick film about Jerry Springer is still a movie about Jerry Springer.

WHAT!?! This movie wasn't a documentary? I've been lied to. I thought it really happened. I was all ready to go sign up and get my gun.
Seriously, I thought it was a well-done, tongue-in-cheek movie about reality tv, that seems to actually pre-date most of the seemingly endless parade of reality crap that the networks throw at us.
