MPAA vs. House of the Dead
http://www.joblo.com/index.php?id=2351
The MPAA has recently shut down the website for the video game based movie The House of the Dead for gorey/offensive pictures. Do you folks think that they have gone to far by censoring this much. I think that they should leave the web alone. If something's offensive then an adult should have enough brains to keep kids/people not mature enough to handle stuff like this away from it. I'm aware that this isnt always possible, but to all-out take down the site is, in my opinion, an infringement on the first amendment. So what're your two cents?

That's fucking Puritan mentality run rampant. WTF could you see on The House of the Dead Website that could be more gory/offensive than a simple search on Google could come up with?

The hell? The MPAA has the right to distribute ratings to the movies they screen, but since when do they have the power to influence how the filmmakers choose to advertise? Anything they decide to put on that website should be considered completely independent of the MPAA.

Yeah, that is fucked up...
Why do they care? Because they are either going to let that shit fly in the theaters or smack it w/ a NC 17 rating until they tone it down.... Why do they need to bother w/ a website? The way corporations are treating the web is getting increasingly scary. |
