Weekend Box Office:My faith in humanity has been restored
I really had a bad feeling going into this weekend's movie openings. Even though it was readily apparent to me that Marci X was going to be an awful, awful movie, I still didn't hold out much hope that it wouldn't bomb at the box office. But thankfully, common sense has prevailed and Marci X grossed only $872K total, with a per screen average of $727.
Perhaps after this and Gigli the movie studios will stop trying to shove such crap down our throats.

here's hoping, but I doubt much will change.
The moneymen of hollywood don't have much concept of how they could create failure. It's always something else. the execs of the new Tomb Raider movie blamed the failure of the film on video game fans being upset w/ the new version of the game. I woudn't be surprised if some exec said it Marci X's failure was due to the blackout. |

Many people in Hollywood stop the creative process after the initial concept. Wacky character meets up with a conservative character and then they have to get close.....
WACKINESS ENSUES!!! ...and that's good enough for them, then they move on to the next project.

Yeah I saw it. I knew it was going to suck and wanted to be in on the joke. That movie has 45 minutes of fucking dramatic pauses and no character motivations whatsoever. Never once was I convinced J-Lo was useful for any crime person or that B-Fleck was tough. And that is the tip of the iceberg. This movie sucked in every direction (with the slight exception of a good J-lo cameltoe shot). And I like Showgirls. |
