I hope she's not the only high point. I would prefer they didn't remake this for today's short attention span generation but who am I to deny someone from making a buck. As long as they don't make a TCM a la Scream or I Know What You Did Last Summer it shouldn't be too hard to watch.

I do not know why they would want to remake a movie that was perfect before . I guess Hollywood is running out of ideas. /dreads the day I see when they start remaking movies like E.T. Goonies, etc...

Booo!

The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!"

If it made a decent amount of money before, Hollywood will remake it in a heart beat because they know it is guaranteed to make money again off of all the people who loved the first one. There are know risk takers in mainstream Hollywood anymore.

P.S. If any of you have seen the previous TCM sequel with Zellwegger and McConahey, you would know that they cant help but fuck up a remake.

Yeah, this is another thing like Gus Van Sant's Psycho. It's totally unnecessary and pointless. The first was flawless, theres no need for a remake.

The remake looks terrible. Michael Bay is behind it, how can it be anything BUT crap?

But, if any good can come out of it (Jessica Biel aside), because of the remake Pioneer is releasing a new digitally remastered DVD of the original 1974 classic on October 14! The audio and video remastering was supervised by Tobe Hooper, and it's loaded with great special features.

one question....

WHY?

I don't really undertand remakes. I mean fair enough, if a movie was made when perhaps the technology of the time didn't do justice to the story, and you want to take advantage of new special effects.
Or if you feel you want to take the same story from a different angle (Lolita).
But these "new" remakes are just plain old cash-ins.
I guess I just answered my own question.

American Teenagers 14 to 24 years old = Never seen the original one = Money, money, money.

The heck, if they can do a Jason VS Freddy and make money out of it, why not!

I'm not gonna pay a dime to see that. I'm not gonna pay a dime for any "American Horror Movie" for years to come cause they are simply not in the same league of others anymore. (U.K. 28 days lather for exemple)

I'm still waiting for the Hollywood remake of Citizen Kane. I bet that will kick ass.

I demand all of my movies in glorious technicolour!
Ooooh! And Rosebud, shouldn't be the name of his sleigh...I mean come on, what kind of a sucky ending was that!? "Rosebud" should be the secret password to open his top secret underground lair, where he has stored his most precious treasure of all...one catch! The lair is boobytrapped with all kinds of devious and infernal devices, and it is up to one man to....

I think I'm gonna get sick!

Regardless of everyone's feelings about remakes, you must admit that the trailer seems to exude the same feeling as the original and not some teen movie.

The Michael Bay Thing is a surprise, but, hey, you never know. I think it's worth a look. Plus I already own the original; nothing can ruin that.

If the wacked out mind of Rob Zombie can't even produce a desent horror flic without the stereotypical lost teenagers get killed by crazy thing/family, then there is no hope for the genre. Jessica Biel's last movie was with Freddie Prinze Jr., and she was a star on 7th Heaven. No chance that this isnt going to be a Jeepers Creepers Screamathon piece of shit.

I loved House of 1000 corpses. I thought Rob Zombie showed lots of skill as a director, especially for his first movie.

1000 Corpses was an excellent movie and a great throwback to the kinds of horror flicks that I had seen years ago.

And I saw the Texas Chainsaw Massacre trailer when I went to see Freddy Vs. Jason. It looks pretty good. I will probably go see it in the theatre.
