goonies stinks: yes or no?
can someone help me out with this? years and years ago when the movie "the goonies" came out, i saw it and thought it sucked. i see that on the internet it has a lot of ardent fans. i don't know anyone personally who remembers anything special about the movie. do people just remember this film fondly from their childhood or...? i apologize to anyone who is offended, but is there, or is there not something special about "the goonies"?

*cough cough* Anyway, the movie, "The Goonies" taught me that people with sever physical disabilities/defects, and terrible speach problems are actually super-strong and like to eat candy.

That was one of my favorites when I was a kid. I even saw it again not too long ago and it still entertained me. Back when it came out, we didn't have all of these console game systems to keep us sedated on the TV nor did we have the internet. This was a classic adventure movie that made us kids (who most likely already loved the idea of adventure and pirate treasure) have something new to imagine and daydream about. I think we had it a lot better then, although I am sure some will dissagree Oops, sorry I sorta digressed away from the topic.

The first time I saw the Goonies I was a little kid growing up in Soviet Russia. I was scared and confused by it. And not by Sloth either. Mama Fratelli gave me nightmares for a week afterwards!
When I was older, I saw it again, and I loved it. It had everything a kid wants in a movie! Its like Indiana Jones with alot more humor and alot less Nazis. It has become one of those movies that I need to have in my collection, no matter what. If something happens to one copy, I must replace it, and it is high time to replace my VHS copy with a DVD. How can you NOT love the Goonies?

i loved the movie as a kid
last year i bought the movie and i still love it. can't judge objectively about the movie, there's a lot of nostalgia involved for me. the exposition of the characters is great. in one sequence, (a chase, each of the characters is introduced in a highly original manner) goonies rock !!! the audiocommentary on the dvd is a little chaotic. it gives an idea of how stressfull it must have been for richard donner while shooting the actual movie :-)

the idea of a sequel was floating around on the net some time ago. with the 'children' of the original cast getting into trouble and the parents on a rescue mission.
let's hope that'll never happen.

OK so the movie does have a lot of nostalgia attached to it. But I still believe it will be one of my all time favorite movies! I mean it had so many great jokes in it. Ok so the fratelli family did scare me a bit when I was a kid but what didn't?
Do any of you guys remeber the part when the older brother is speaking spanish to the maid and is scaring the crap out of her? THat was hilarious! and for that matter how can you not like a movie that has Sam Wise as a child in it? I mean c'mon! hehe GOONIES ROCKS!
